How to Remove Dome Globe Glass Light Cover Shield Replacement on Hampton Bay Ceiling Fan Windward II
Yes, some of you have already seen this on our previous channel - one of the more ridiculous designs of a ceiling fan (still the same in 2020!) Be very careful when doing this method. It might help if you have another set of hands to hold the main body of the fan while you remove the dome. BE CAREFUL! this silly design include models: Hampton Bay Windward and Windward II, 523 342 or 523 127 part numbers.

Just curious: Do you have issues using the dimmer feature of the light with this bulb? I'm trying to figure out how to replace the ballast which the manufacturer doesn't make anymore, and I didn't realize until now that fluorescent bulbs generally aren't dimming bulbs. I had replaced the original bulb with the GE 9 in version of this circline bulb, which is not indicated to be a dimming bulb. My family never used to use the dimming feature (just turned the fan on/off @ 100%), but I realized our tenants do. Not sure if that's the reason the ballast failed in 5 years or if that was just coincidental though.

Thank you, I had attempted many times to remove the dome globe light but it was too tight. Tried to look at a few videos for instructions on an easier way to loosen the dome globe but with no success. Your video with simple instructions was what helped me find the trick to loosen the globe. Thank you much, for sharing this video.

Great help for me, thanks so much for your time making this video. I've actually got a Winward III, but the principle of the lower globe removal is the same. It took a few tries using your "slapping" method on the cleaned glass, but it worked. I noticed that as I was slapping it, the light started to flicker. I assume it was a loose heater filament inside the bulb. I think the fan is close to 20 years old. After I first assembled it, I realized that bulb was going to be hard to find a replacement for, so I bought one when they went on clearance a few years later. I actually bought 4 of these expensive fans, which I think cost in the area of $200 each. Since then I have had to replace both the upper and lower bulbs on several of them, the lower ballast on one of them, a fan dual capacitor, plus the transmitter on one of them. Very expensive and hard-to-find parts, but the fans are beautiful (when they work), and are very quiet. The low profile design is very nice, and I like the thermostatic control.
