"No single word in English renders all the shades of toska. At its deepest and most painful, it is a sensation of great spiritual anguish, often without any specific cause. At less morbid levels it is a dull ache of the soul, a longing with nothing to long for, a sick pining, a vague restlessness, mental throes, yearning. In particular cases it may be the desire for somebody of something specific, nostalgia, love-sickness. At the lowest level it grades into ennui, boredom.”
― Vladimir Nabokov
Thank you this is why this song means so much to me
I hate to feel тоска
@@Detroittruckdoctor55 oh man it hurts, i hope she get back to you
@Joseph Knecht boa pergunta.
That's just a quote from him, or that comes from a Nabokov's book?
You realise a good song when you don't understand a single word but can feel it.
relatable...
and it's even better when you understand the words and resonate with them completely.
Something about not knowing the lyrics but still liking the song just really ties it all together, makes it feel more personal if that makes sense.
Well music is an international language
Same 😂but I’m trying to learn some Russian
This song makes my heart ache in ways I can’t even describe. This is the only band I’ve found since joy division that can perfectly conjure that feeling of emptiness, and hopelessness. In a way that inspires me, instead of making me want to go to bed
have you had a listen to Rope Sect? Most of their songs are a little more action-oriented but i personally really love this song by them ruclips.net/video/-ERb2Nidcpc/видео.html
Thank you so much!
Jozeff I had never heard of that band before! I really enjoyed the song, and I actually just added it to my playlist. It’s very similar stylistically which is right up my alley, and I love the singer’s voice. Thank you for the awesome music suggestion :) it made my day!
Molchat Doma 💓thank you for reaching out, and bringing beauty to my world with your music
@@jozeff3329 thanks for recommending Rope Sect, been listening to them a bit.
I'm finnish, and here word "tuska" means pain or really melancholic feelings. The only word that i understand from this song
Also Finn and never realized Tuska comes from Toska, even though I study Russian. Many words in Finnish comes from Russian.
= BRUTO, GROSSEIRO, RUDE
2. Que não é lapidado nem polido. = RUDE
3. Que mostra simplicidade ou pouca arte. = GROSSEIRO, RUDE, RÚSTICO
4. Malfeito.
5. Inculto.
6. Rude.
substantivo masculino
7.Parte mais grosseira de uma construção

I have been passing through difficult times and it isn't my first time here, thank you so much for making this song, it's such a comfort for me and overall just helped me so much in times of anxiety, frustration, anger, or even to get inspiration and pass time. Really, it's very difficult to describe but toska genuinely makes me want to learn Russian just to sing along with it. Thank you a lot fr ♡ I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who has it as a comfort song.
My favorite Molchat Doma song
I cant stop listening to the ending of the song, I feel like my life belongs to that bass line
I'm Polish so this text is a bit understandable to me. I think that Molchat Doma's songs take me to another dimension of reality especially Toska
All Slavs understand with all their souls "toska"
For me, as ukro-russian, these songs keep scratching almost bleeding wound, but i cant just stop listening. Its not cuz of war at all, id better said that itscuz of my usual form of existence, I have Toska, i want to listen something as Molchat Doma, SadSvit, Fever Ray, Lorn and etc, and it makes me feel more of Toska, u know

Greetings from Chile.
My latvian friend introduced me to your "Etazhi" album recently, and I AM REALLY GLAD HE DID, I haven't heard such songs like yours in the past years and it truly shows that great music can still be made. Greetings from Turkey!
Best song from Molchat doma
I've experienced this when my relationship with my ex-wife ended. I didn't realize how miserable I was in the relationship until I left the situation, and then you pass through stages of not caring anymore. Sometimes people in your life show you how to not care about them.
[ENGLISH TRANSLATION WITH RHYTM AND RHYMES]
So, im (russian) tried to make my own english translation, not fully consistent in timing and number of syllables, but definitely falls into rhythm and rhymes. By "heartsore" i mean something like sadness, not someone with heart problems (sry, just idk how it understandable for english speaker), and sorry for possible mistakes
Verse 1
(I know, that you really needful for my love)
(Go away, don't try come back around)
(I will find, how to make me busy more)
(Run away, fly away from me, heartsore)
Chorus
(I will be glad to loose you at all)
(There is no problems, besides a sole)
(When you gone evermore)
(Why I'm feeling very good, heartsore?)
Verse 2
(Don't wait me, looking through windowpane)
(Give up the keys, I'm away)
(You should just kill yourself your own)
(Don't force me, please, heartsore)
Chorus
(I will be glad to loose you at all)
(There is no problems, besides a sole)
(When you gone evermore)
(Why I'm feeling very good..?)
(I will be glad to loose you at all)
(There is no problems, besides a sole)
(When you gone evermore)
(Why I'm feeling very good, heartsore?)
Best version, really expresses in text how Egor does through singing. Great job!

The singer sounds just like Ian Curtis.
I've been calling them a Russian Joy Division
@Tsotne Kavelashvili true, Belarusian, but they sing in Russian no?
This is why I like them. If more people liked Russian stuff they'd be so big.

This is definitely a really good one
despair, misery, empty, hopelessness, melancholy...can't translate this word but you can feel it deep
I dont ever comment on RUclips videos, but it's been exactly one year since I discovered this song, it introduced me to the band and the genre and I still litsen to it to this day. I won't do a full length essay about how it makes me feel, or write a whole sob story, but it reminds me of November 20th 2021 and how down I felt all the time and what was happening in my life overall, things are better now in ways, worse in some, I'm just glad I found this song and I hope more people cherish and remember the first time they discover it, and what it makes/made them feel. I may not speak the language, but that's part of what makes the song even more special
Edit: 1 year later it's 20th November 2023, 2 years since i found this song and I still litsen almost every day. Thing have, like last year, been better in some ways and worse in others but looking up,
the worst experience тоска infinite pain and regret that wont end until you find what you need its a miracle how sane an human being can be to handle all of this shit
I found this band awhile back and I’ve always enjoyed there music but after my dad died the lyrics in the songs began to speak to me in new ways and it makes everything that is being said that much more beautiful and that much more tragic
