    1.Draw a quality force diagram.
    2.Use newton's second law for one direction at a time,in order to single out the direction you need to solve for.
    3.Remember the formula for centripetal acceleration,and plug it into the second law equation.

      @@sbsanni Consider the man who IS standing on what is the Earth/ground. Touch AND feeling BLEND, AS ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy is gravity. The Earth is blue, AND the sky is blue. SO, overlay THE EYE in BALANCED RELATION to/WITH what is the Earth ! (The BLUE SKY is ALSO translucent !) GREAT. Objects fall at the SAME RATE (neglecting air resistance, of course), AS E=MC2 IS F=ma; AS ELECTROMAGNETISM/ENERGY IS GRAVITY. NOW, we proceed to the next step. The stars AND PLANETS are POINTS in the night sky. Invisible AND VISIBLE SPACE in fundamental equilibrium and BALANCE IS the MIDDLE DISTANCE in/of SPACE in fundamental RELATION to the universal fact that E=mc2 is F=ma. The Earth (A PLANET) involves BALANCED electromagnetic/gravitational force/ENERGY, AS E=MC2 IS F=MA. The Earth AND the Sun are CLEARLY E=mc2 AND F=ma IN BALANCE pursuant to what is the BALANCED MIDDLE DISTANCE in/of SPACE !!! Consider what is the speed of light (c), AND consider WHAT IS THE SUN. NOW, think about what is the Earth. Importantly, outer "space" involves full inertia; AND it is fully invisible AND black ! Great. Accordingly, the Earth is in BALANCE with what is the Sun, AS the orange Sun represents what is LAVA ON BALANCE !!! Great. (Notice the role and relation of what is the EYElid.) The MIDDLE DISTANCE in/of SPACE is universally balanced to/with what is THE SUN AND the speed of light (c), AS E=MC2 IS F=MA !!! Gravity IS ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy. LOOK at the progression AND THE BALANCE regarding FULL DISTANCE in/of SPACE, MIDDLE DISTANCE in/of SPACE !!!, AND A POINT (ALSO c) !!! E=mc2 IS F=ma !!!, AS ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy is gravity ON BALANCE !!! GREAT !!! It ALL CLEARLY makes perfect sense. BALANCE AND completeness go hand in hand. E=mc2 is F=ma. TIME is NECESSARILY possible/potential AND actual IN BALANCE, AS E=mc2 is F=ma; AS ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy is gravity. INDEED, TIME DILATION ultimately proves ON BALANCE that ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy is gravity; AS E=MC2 IS F=ma !!!!
      INSTANTANEITY is thus FUNDAMENTAL to what is the FULL and proper UNDERSTANDING of physics/physical experience, AS E=MC2 IS F=MA ON BALANCE !!!; AS ELECTROMAGNETISM/ENERGY IS GRAVITY !!!
      GRAVITATIONAL force/ENERGY IS proportional to (or BALANCED with/as) inertia/INERTIAL RESISTANCE, AS E=MC2 IS F=ma; AS ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy is gravity. Gravity/acceleration involves BALANCED inertia/INERTIAL RESISTANCE, AS E=mc2 IS F=MA; AS ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy is gravity. Accordingly, the rotation of WHAT IS THE MOON matches it's revolution !!! Notice what is the fully illuminated (AND setting) Moon in DIRECT comparison with what is the orange Sun !!!
      Again, the stars AND PLANETS are POINTS in the night sky. A given PLANET (including WHAT IS THE EARTH) sweeps out EQUAL AREAS in equal times consistent WITH/AS F=ma, E=mc2, AND what is perpetual motion, AS ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy is gravity; AS E=MC2 IS F=MA ON BALANCE !!!!!! Why can't Fn=mg+mw^2r
      Coz gravity and centripetal force balance normal force?

    • @kristiyansyarov3076
      @kristiyansyarov3076 Год назад

      @@shivtejpatil5348 If you want your equation to be true you need to then use it in a situation in which youre going downwards a curved path and going back up (looking at it from a 2D perspective). Then, the normal force will be pointed inward the imaginary circle, which you can draw by drawing an arch from the two highest points in your journey, and the force of gravity will be pointed towards the ground, meaning outside of the circle. So Fn-mg=mv^2/r. Move mg to the other sign with a positive sign we get Fn=mg+mv^2/r, because if the normal force is bigger than the gravitational force/pull, you would still travel in a circle. If it wasnt, you would basically ,,stick'' to the ground and instead of going up the path you would just crash forward.

    Tension in the string, radially inward friction force or gravitational force are there to counter the tangential velocity?
    Tangential velocity is the tendency of the car to go out along the tangent.
    The force of friction act in a radially inward direction to carry the centripetal acceleration occurring from the continual resultant change in velocity?

    Hi Khan Academy! Your courses are exceedingly valuable for the research project that I'm doing! I had a question:
    If you're given the radius of a circular path that a car is traveling around, at a given velocity, but you don't know the mass of the car, how would you solve such a problem? (If being asked to find the centripetal force) Basically, what I'm asking is that how do you solve a centripetal force problem without knowing the mass?
    Thanks in advance,
    Anika

    • @Isis1018
      @Isis1018 11 месяцев назад

      Would you have to know the mass? Centripetal force is given by v^2/r (velocity of object squared divided by radius of circle). So if you know the velocity and radius I’m pretty sure that’s it. As the mass of the car would only need to be known if you want to find the ‘pull back force’ going against the car, which doesn’t change the magnitude of the centripetal force, just how much affect it has on the car. For example, the sun will always exert a centripetal force on the Earth regardless of how big the Earth is (of course if the Earth was bigger than the sun this force would be outweighed by the Earth’s centripetal force). I’m VERY new to centripetal force though so this is just based on my intuition.

    Buen video. Pero ..........En un experimento de una masa girando, sujeta por una cuerda.
    ¿Quien mantiene la cuerda en tensión???.
    Por un lado la fuerza centripeta, como reacción a la inercia de la masa que gira. (MCU).
    Por el otro extremo ( centro de giro), la reacción a la inercia de la masa donde esta fijo el eje ( MRUV).acelerado.(hace vibrar el eje)
    Si se elimina la fuerza centripeta ( se corta la cuerda), se elimina la fuerza que mueve la masa donde esta fijo el eje ( deja de vibrar),y la masa que gira ,
    por su inercia sale por la tangente al círculo del radio de giro , entanto que la masa que sujeta el eje, sigue con su movimiento rectilíneo uniforme ( por inercia)
    La FÍSICA es EXPERIMENTAL,,,,!!!!!!!!!!. Gracias por vuestra atencion y tiempo.

    Why would it be that if the velocity is too high, you’ll go flying off? The normal will be almost 0 so you would likely go down because of the weight...

    • @offabender2719
      @offabender2719 2 года назад

      its because of inertial g force, the more centripetal acceleration(downwards in the case of the guy on a bicycle) you have the more your bodies inertia is trying to pull you up. A similar thing happens when you are in a car which accelerates quickly, you have a sensation of a force pushing you back although in reality the chair you are sitting in is trying to push you forward and your bodies inertia is counteracting that force in the opposite direction (newtons first and third law)(although in the case of a car it has a longitudinal g force which is a completely different story). The formula for g force in the vertical direction and going around in a circle in the case of the guy on a bicycle is g force = 1 + inertial g force/g (in the case of the guy riding the bicycle the inertial g force is equal to his centripetal acceleration but in the opposite direction (which makes it negative). so once a bodies centripetal acceleration is greater than 9.8 m/s^2 g becomes negative which means it has a negative g-force which in turn accelerates the body upwards. So in the scenario that is depicted at the end of the video, if the cyclist velocity increases so must his centripetal acceleration (v^2/r) and we know that centripetal and inertial acceleration have the same magnitude(but different direction) hence why the presenter stated that once v increases to a certain point the cyclist will become airborne.

    Can someone help me understand why having your Velocity increase to the point where there’s no Normal Force would cause you fly off the hill?
    If your weight is 980 and the Normal Force is 0 you should never leave the ground or hill.
    Somebody please clarify

    • @TheSoapySurprise
      @TheSoapySurprise 4 года назад +3

      If you move fast enough, the force of air resistance becomes more than that of the force of gravity, meaning you no longer will be tethered to the ground. When you don't encounter the ground, there is no way for there to be a normal force, so your normal force is zero.
      To answer your question, if your weight is 980 and you aren't touching the ground, there can't be a normal force. The normal force is the force exerted in response to your weight force being exerted onto the ground. When you move really fast, instead of the reaction force being the normal force, it is instead the force of air resistance. Hope that helps!

    • @pubuduweerakoon7174

      Normal force on the bick will be a function of its position on the track. If bick continues the riding at a constant speed at which the normal reaction at the top of the track is zero, it is true that the bick is going to fly off the track afterward. This happens because of the entire weight at the top would support the cetripetal acceleration. If the speed is constant, the centripetal acceleration has to be contant. Bick can no longer following this circular track because no centripetal force enogh. Maximum possible centripetal force available is equal to the weight of the system. If the bick comes to the right side of the circle, the force pointing to the center would be a component (part) of the weight which is lower than the weight. Thanking you.

    you said that the force the point into the center of the circle is positive the force that point out of the circle is negative.
    at the last problem: the centripetal force is pointing toward the center. how come the centripetal force is negative.

    • @xLenny22x
      @xLenny22x 5 лет назад

      Ayoob Alkindy it’s not, it’s +450N for the net centripetal force. This points towards the center. That’s why it’s positive mg “MINUS” F_Normal. Also think of the other way, “adding a negative.” He already drew the normal force pointing out of the circle. By his definition, this term will be negative. Maybe you were confused and tried to plug in: mg - (-F_N)? That would be wrong since it’s the “sum” of the forces and therefore it should be mg + (-F_N) which is the same as mg - F_N.

    Can someone please explain this to me: Everything made sense except the part about the normal force getting smaller the faster you go. The normal force is pointing OFF the road. It's gravity that's holding you ON the road. So if you're going faster and faster, intuitively I would think normal force becomes larger because you are more likely to fly off the road. Why is this not the case? How does having a large normal force keep the bike attached to the road? Someone please help me.

    • @Kiethlmao
      @Kiethlmao 6 лет назад +9

      Your confusion lies with the implication that normal force accelerates you in a system. Because you accelerate downward, the force of gravity must be bigger than the normal force. For instance when you drive over a bump in a car, the normal force you experience is smaller than the force of gravity because you are in contact with the ground less than you would be if the ground was flat; that’s why you accelerate downward towards the circle. If you were to ride fast enough you would launch into the air because there is no ground for you to be in contact with, therefore your normal force is 0. You would not be accelerating upwards (which is what I think your getting confused with) because the force of gravity never left your personal system and is constantly being applied downward on you and your car. The initial launch (which is what he was talking about) has to do with the lack of normal force you experience to balance you on the bump due to the speed you travel with and the surface you're in contact with. If you were to stay motionless on top of the bump, your normal force would equal the force of gravity because you are a system at rest. All of these scenarios require velocity (speed+direction) to achieve the desired effect. Hopefully this made sense and put an end to your confusion.

      @@Kiethlmao Ok so actually he failed to think about surface contact. I had no idea what normal force was. It was never even mentioned in the video, to throw on top of this that ma is not a force, it was doubly confusing.

    • @Kiethlmao
      @Kiethlmao 5 лет назад +3

      Well, I would think that if you clicked on the video, you would have the slightest idea of what normal force is and the man making the video would assume the same. Why explain normal force in a video about circular motion? That's an entirely different video. You either have the prior knowledge or you don't. And ma is not a force per se, but it is an equation to find the forces mentioned.

    If Fc=W-Fn ,
    W=Fc+Fn
    We know that the centripetal force and the normal force is in opposite direction but why in this equation Fc and Fn are positive ?

    • @carultch
      @carultch 2 года назад

      Because you added Fn to both sides of the equation, therefore canceling out the originally negative Fn.

    The ultimate unification and understanding of physics/physical experience combines, BALANCES, AND INCLUDES opposites, AS E=MC2 is CLEARLY manifest as F=ma ON BALANCE; AS ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy is gravity. Here's the proof. This also explains why objects (including WHAT IS THE FALLING MAN) fall at the SAME RATE (neglecting air resistance, of course), AS E=MC2 IS CLEARLY F=MA ON BALANCE; AS ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy is gravity. TIME dilation ULTIMATELY proves (ON BALANCE) that E=MC2 IS clearly and necessarily F=ma ON BALANCE, AS ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy is gravity. Gravity is ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy ON BALANCE.
    ON THE CLEAR, EXTENSIVE, SENSIBLE, BALANCED, THEORETICAL, AND UNIVERSAL PROOF THAT ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy is gravity, AS E=MC2 IS clearly PROVEN TO BE F=MA ON BALANCE:
    Balanced inertia/INERTIAL RESISTANCE is fundamental, as ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy is gravity. The stars AND PLANETS are POINTS in the night sky. Energy has/involves GRAVITY, AND ENERGY has/involves inertia/INERTIAL RESISTANCE; AS gravity AND ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy are linked AND BALANCED opposites; AS ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy is gravity; AS E=MC2 is CLEARLY proven to be F=ma ON BALANCE. This NECESSARILY represents, INVOLVES, AND DESCRIBES what is possible/potential AND actual IN BALANCE. Indeed, A PHOTON may be placed at the center of what is THE SUN (as A POINT, of course); AS the reduction of SPACE is offset by (or BALANCED with) the speed of light (c); AS ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy is gravity ON BALANCE; AS E=MC2 is CLEARLY F=ma IN BALANCE !!! Gravity is ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy ON BALANCE, AS E=MC2 is CLEARLY proven to be F=ma IN BALANCE. TIME dilation ULTIMATELY proves (ON BALANCE) that ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy is gravity, AS E=MC2 is CLEARLY F=ma ON BALANCE. Gravity/acceleration involves BALANCED inertia/INERTIAL RESISTANCE, AS ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy is gravity; AS E=MC2 is CLEARLY F=ma ON BALANCE; AS the stars AND PLANETS are POINTS in the night sky. Accordingly, ON BALANCE, the rotation of WHAT IS THE MOON matches it's revolution. TIME is NECESSARILY possible/potential AND actual IN BALANCE, AS ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy is gravity; AS E=MC2 is CLEARLY F=ma ON BALANCE. The stars AND PLANETS are POINTS in the night sky. Accordingly, ON BALANCE, it makes perfect sense that THE PLANETS (including WHAT IS THE EARTH) will move away very, very, very slightly in relation to what is THE SUN !!! ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy is gravity, AS E=MC2 is CLEARLY F=ma ON BALANCE. Inertia/INERTIAL RESISTANCE is proportional to (or BALANCED with/as) GRAVITATIONAL force/ENERGY, as this balances gravity AND inertia; AS E=MC2 is CLEARLY F=ma ON BALANCE; AS ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy is gravity. GREAT. I have explained the cosmological redshift AND the supergiant stars. Stellar clustering ALSO proves ON BALANCE that ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy is gravity, AS E=MC2 is CLEARLY F=ma IN BALANCE !!!

      I think this will help you from an MIT physics major)... You intuitively understand that the gravitational force pushes you down (that's why Newton's apple went down instead of up or sideways) .. Now imagine riding your bike on a level surface.. You wouldn't feel any additional up or down force.. But when you hit the hill, you will feel a big push up, not down. So gravitation and Normal forces have to be in opposite directions (and you already know centripetal force like gravity points down toward the center of the circle) I hope this helps..

    call it centripetal, call it tension, it doesn't matter what the force is, it's still incorrect. any force toward the center is only a momentary force, as in not constant, not rotating, therefore it's not the force that causes the object to stay in rotation. (I'm not arguing against physics, I'm explaining why I'm having such a hard time wrapped my head around the laws of centripetal force.)
