I have an old Kitty 432 and its fantastic. I put a new dust extractor on it today and it is great. Your Kitty machine is beautiful and will last you many years , well done on the build
I liked the way you refurbished and older tool to be used again. That's how I done my woodworking shop, a tablesaw , bandsaw, and jointer all refurbished. It's a great way to save money and have good working equipment. I like doing that as much as the woodworking.
You're quite an entertainer. I love your humor. You are intelligent, innovative, and more of a woodworker than I will ever be. Thank you for all of it. Here in the USA, you need to buy two machines to do the work of your Kity. Oh there are probably equivalents here but way out of the price range of weekend warriors like me. I like your Kity and what you've done with it to make it functional. Thanks for sharing.
Just bought one of these today 50 GB Pounds !! Boy was that a lucky find. I remember these when they were first made and I was jealous of those who could afford them.
Marius, Your designs and builds are quite uniquely intuitive and fun to watch. The extend of your knowledge and abilities is quite impressive and far above your age. Your knowledge of mechanical engineering and industrial design is really remarkable. You must be a mechanical engineer. Impressive videos and productions... Kudos! Thank you for the great sense of humor that you have and for these shows. I liked the disappearing-reappearing bit (lathe). All the best.
You will have great times with that machine. They were made in France, most of them were made on the simple idea to use one single motor to power many machines. They were also manufacturing bigger machines with their own motor. I own a 20 yo table saw of this brand (a Kity 619) and a planer/jointer Kity 637. Both a awesome machine very reliable. I bought my saw for 400€ with 6 blades (up to 270/300mm blades just work fine), a rear outfeed table, a side table to rip up to 1000m wide sheets, and a cross cut sled with a 1200mm bar. The planer is quite similar, the tables are 260mm wide, 1200mm long, and can joint up to 250mm. I add a digital scale on it to ease reading the thickness I'm aiming for. Enjoy.
Look on Ebay to fing in UK very low priced jointer blades, I found a pair of 260mm knives for around 20€. A french e shop may also help you to find parts for these old ladies..
The motor looks a lot like it is actually a re-purposed direct drive table saw motor (note the extra flat construction & how the mounting flange goes away to the side and rear - that's to increase the effective cut depth - and all standard industrial motors have a nameplate). Probably leaning more towards the 4 kW (5 1/2 HP) mark. Very nice setup!
Marius, you are truly a genius! You come up with some of the simplest, clever ideas ever. Keep up the outstanding work young man. You make me want to look for a jointer just like yours. And of course I would do everything you did. Again; you are truly a genius. May Jesus continue to bless you with extraordinary gifts that you use to help all of us.
Hello Kity! Eine richtig schöne alte Maschine und ich mag es, wie durchdacht sie ist. Deine upgrades sind wieder gut und funktionell. Glückwunsch zur Anschaffung!
I bought an inca machine, similar. The stand is 2x4’s screwed together and it weeble wobbles like crazy. Your stand looks way more solid. I think I’ll copy that.
Oh, dear, now there's going to be a run on eBay and elsewhere to find and snap up those old Kity 636 machines. I can kiss goodbye any chance of snagging one cheap. Marius, you should do commercials because now you've made me (and others, no doubt) want to buy one of those.
Herzlichen Glückwunsch zur "neuen" Maschine!!! Wie immer ein tolles und informatives Video. Profi-Werkzeug für einen professionellen Woodworker! Immer wieder interessant und schön anzusehen welche tollen Ergebnisse Du bei all deinen Sachen/Projekten erzielst.
cool video I have the same machine, mine also has a horizontal drill/panel saw and molder that you can activate by changing belts (they are separate machines mounted on a table with only one motor). She works really great, it's nice to see that there are more people who have this brand. I believe it’s a brand from the Scheppach group.
It performs pretty well for such small one because it has a 1.5hp motor(3 HP in your case) the downside is that is only has a 15mm (or 16mm I can check that for you) but with the right spacing rings I use molders that need a shaft size up to 30mm. it has a really nice adjusting system for the molder height.one other great feature is that is has a slot in the table to use the sled from a table saw, so you can cut counter profiled tenons. If you want to I can take some pictures during the weekend, or if you have any more questions feel free to ask.
bart b hi m8 I have just bought same thing.and have to put it all back together due to transportation lol .You have to twist the belt to operate boulder don't you.?
Your “new” planer/jointer appears very much reminiscent of the old-and discontinued-Swiss Inca tools. They were well engineered. There appears to some subtle and not so subtle differences. After some for 40 years I sold the Inca tools and bought a Felder 531 Pro. Excellent combo tool, but there are times that I miss the Inca tools. Well made, light and easy to move around the shop-and the country.
just bought a Kity 636 £50 or 60 Euro, working wish it had some of the add on bits but its great for the job I have was worried I might not get a manual for it but your Video tells me all I need to know. I like to comment it its Green and heavy its good!
That's a great looking machine. I would never have the confidence to drop 400 euro on a secondhand purchase off ebay in case it turned out to be a dud. I have the modern equivalent built in china but it still works well. Try not to lift it by the tables though. I made a set of handles for mine with two long wooden 'bars' that were screwed into the main body where the tables attach. You can then do the equivalent lift but without stressing the tables.
Looking up Kity 636 I found mention of it as a current model in a 1992 issue of American Woodworker. Your machine's styling looks older to me than that, but looks on industrial grade machines aren't a big concern to manufacturers, so don't give that much weight. Nice machine, sweet build. Eric Koster i find my planner works well with the 1ph motor that is of that rating i think. Ohh! A Kity 636 in Germany?! (fun fact: Kity is now owned by Scheppach) Such a lovely machine, it would break my heart if I had to sell mine... That motor is huge! :o It must be twice the weight of the 636! lol

Hello, I just bought a kity 636 and the planing plate tilts 2 millimeters to the right, do you know if this plate is adjustable and how? thanks in advance.
Well done ! And, as French, I'm happy to see a French Kity working out of France ! I've just bought the same machine (but not in the same shape) and I'm interested by the support machine table : could you give us main sizes ? Thank you . François
Hallo Marius, deine ´Kity 636´ würde bei mir ein schönes Zuhause finden, nur mal so in den Raum hinein gerufen :-) Danke für dein(e) Video(s) & bleib´ gesund !
I got a similar machine and decided to fix it, do you know if there should be some kind of bushing betweek the plastic wheel tat moves with the large wheel (the one with holes) and the metal of the machine??
Hey the official Kitty motor's only go up to 2 horse power, it feels like more due to it being three phase motor's wich have way more torque, compared to single phase motors. Great Little machine I just bought a combination Table with the 635 included.
weird, I've just bought the exact same Kity 636 combo P/T of ebay. I'm in the process of looking for a 2 pole single phase 2hp motor. The cutter head subs at 7000 rpm, the pulley on the cutter is 50mm therefore you need a 150mmm pulley on the motor.
Do you not find it quite annoying in mid air? I would of thought something with a spring mechanism like Frank Howarth has got, would be safer and easier to operate?
Hi Marius was passiert jetzt mit deiner alten abrichte verkaufts du die oder bleibt die erstmal bei dir ich suche nämlich schon lange nach eine Kombi Maschine
Yes I first set the out feed table in line with the cutter head and the infeed table coplaner to the outfeed table by loosening their six festening screws. Then moving, tightening, checking and repeat until good enough
I hope you can help me I have just purchased a Kity joiner planer shaper, mine is not the same as yours. I can't find any information on them. Where can I go to learn about them and purchase needed parts?
Hi there! I got a kity 636 also but the tables are sagging in the middle, maybe due to be carried around by the table ends. Do you know how to setup the tables in order to make them co-planar?
Since i have an almost same kind/type of machine that i really want to use but i've messed up the ac motor, and it need a replacement ac motor. May i know the specific and details about the motor that you've mount on your machine please? Thankyou so much. By the way good work. 👍👍👍
i been thinking about the kity 636 for a while now but after seeing it in action im sold im gonna have to get one they certainly beat the £200 plastic ones from diy shops haha
my table saw has a threaded arbour on the right hand side so maybe i could power the planer with it using a pulley system try and cut down on the footprint my shop isnt big enough for a dedicated planer/thicknesser cart like yours but one day
Your old jointer/planer looked like something out of a Little Tykes toy set, but this newer one looks like a great option if someone is short on space! Good width, too (25 cm = 10")! I think an 8" is the biggest I've seen with a benchtop model before I saw this one! In fact, this is probably as good of a benchtop model as I've seen...most of the other ones I've seen look like buyer's traps: cheap to buy but ultimately a waste of money.
Hi Marius, do you know how to dismentle the axis of tabel taht tilt for ticknesser? It has also a small pin inside the middle of the axis. Do you know what is his function? Thanks Uri
Part 6 is the small pin and part 7 is the axis in the image below. I probably not using the correct words for the items i57.servimg.com/u/f57/18/13/37/46/vues_e22.jpg
The part you are referring to is used to adjust the height of the outfeed table, if your knives are properly installed you can adjust the outfeed table to minimize snipe >> turning the black knob at the end allows the table to slide up or down >> since this adjustment is hardly ever used I needed to use some penetrating oil and a few careful taps with a hammer to make it slide again
Hi. It's amazing all the staff that you do! I bought a Kity 5 sistem last year and I want to build the same (brilliant) table. Can you help me with some plans? Thank you!
I had a similar machine when I first started woodworking. It was an 8" (200 mm) jointer planer by Jet. Your's looks to be of higher quality than mine, but the dust collection set was always EXTREMELY annoying and I replaced it after a year. I am a bit surprised to hear you bought that machine for 400 E.... I bought a Makita 2030N for 400 USD. Much bigger machine with a 5' jointer bed. Are tools in Europe just a lot more expensive than the US?
its an economy of scale thing US tool market is a lot larger more tools sold= lower price's also we have been depleting our forests for a lot longer so wood costs more the deals are out there just got to look for em though
Now I feel bad, I just bought similar jointer you've had before getting a new one. Well...I'll wait for more subs then :) Thanks for another awesome video Marius!
I have an old Kitty 432 and its fantastic. I put a new dust extractor on it today and it is great. Your Kitty machine is beautiful and will last you many years , well done on the build

only to a certain degree, and I'm already over that

Heck of a find! AND at what seems to me to be a great price.
weird, I've just bought the exact same Kity 636 combo P/T of ebay. I'm in the process of looking for a 2 pole single phase 2hp motor. The cutter head subs at 7000 rpm, the pulley on the cutter is 50mm therefore you need a 150mmm pulley on the motor.
My motor has 2800rpm and a 120mm pulley. That speed work good. If you can, get a even more powerful motor, you won't regret.

Yes I first set the out feed table in line with the cutter head and the infeed table coplaner to the outfeed table by loosening their six festening screws. Then moving, tightening, checking and repeat until good enough
Thank you, Marius @@MariusHornberger
Very nice build !
Cheers from Canada
Hi might be a silly question but what is the machine you used to cut your box joints and tenons
how do you have the time and patience for setting up a machine. very impressive tune up
Very nice machine! Seems better than previous one much more.
Oh you have no idea, it's a dream compared to my previous one
I agree! I like it more and more after watching again.
I hope you can help me I have just purchased a Kity joiner planer shaper, mine is not the same as yours. I can't find any information on them. Where can I go to learn about them and purchase needed parts?
I'm sorry, but I have no idea.
Klasse Video! Viele gute Ideen und Anregungen! Ich mag besonders den Holzschraubenschlüssel!
Looks very similar to the old Inca 570. Built like a Swiss watch.
Hi there! I got a kity 636 also but the tables are sagging in the middle, maybe due to be carried around by the table ends. Do you know how to setup the tables in order to make them co-planar?
I showed that seetup a little bit in the cutterhead upgrade video
Since i have an almost same kind/type of machine that i really want to use but i've messed up the ac motor, and it need a replacement ac motor.
May i know the specific and details about the motor that you've mount on your machine please?
Thankyou so much.
By the way good work.
👍👍👍
i been thinking about the kity 636 for a while now but after seeing it in action im sold im gonna have to get one they certainly beat the £200 plastic ones from diy shops haha
The 200€ crap doesn't even come close to this.
my table saw has a threaded arbour on the right hand side so maybe i could power the planer with it using a pulley system try and cut down on the footprint my shop isnt big enough for a dedicated planer/thicknesser cart like yours but one day
Pscht, neue Drehe sah man ja schon auf Instagram. Soll die deine Drechselbank komplett ersetzen?
nein
Thanks Uri
The table doesn't tilt. There's no pin
Part 6 is the small pin and part 7 is the axis in the image below. I probably not using the correct words for the items

Pro malé prodejně, pěkný mašinka.Do you have something painted tables.
Awww! It felt so good to see what amazing stuff you could do with the same crappy machine I have :(
Congratulations on the new one!
Nice job on improving your new jointer/planer. Looks like your shop is complete. Any plans to build some furniture?
What, complete? Not even close ;) But more than good enough for building something, next project has already started (kinda furniture)
Are tools in Europe just a lot more expensive than the US?
its an economy of scale thing US tool market is a lot larger more tools sold= lower price's
also we have been depleting our forests for a lot longer so wood costs more the deals are out there just got to look for em though
I'm jealous. That's a really nice looking machine!
I have an Inca jointer/planer that is amazingly similar to yours
the previous owner must have loved this machine so much.... still too beautifull after all those years
or he barely used it
Keep up the good work, Marius! I've really enjoyed all your videos. Thanks for sharing!
Have you thought about changing pulley and belt into a V-version?
Impressive good machine built to last
What are the characteristics of the engine? Power and rpm
Should be arround 2-3kW and 2800 RPM.
Now I feel bad, I just bought similar jointer you've had before getting a new one. Well...I'll wait for more subs then :)
Thanks for another awesome video Marius!
your english is improving noticably.
