Nothing but love and positivity in the comments. Dilla fans the dopest 💖
✌️
Kamaal Blow My Mind Like No One Other
The best mix, thanks men for this gift, the legacy of Jdee, respect, only listen this shit, bless from Chile🇨🇱 my friend
its dope thats why
I used a track from this album for my own songs and the lyrics are wack compared to the beat. I used Dreamy
Perfect drums.
Perfect sampling.
Perfect swing.
Less is more.
Your favorite producer's favorite producer.
My favorite producer/musical artist is Eminem, And Eminem was indeed inspired by Jay Dilla :)
***** I personally dislike Em's production, so I can't say, but try to listen through Dilla's discography and look for things that remind you of Em-produced tracks.
yung latios i know Kanye was inspired by JAYDEE.
Alex lee I never really noticed until I watched "Our Vinyl Weighs a Ton" (which I recommend to everyone on this video), when Kanye actually goes to tears talking about Dilla's influence on him.
***** What do you mean how? Its an opinion. And they both produce records and Great music. And Em was inspired by JayDee. You might think Em is a trash producer but I like his stuff and so do a whole lot of other people.
I don't know how Dilla managed to inject so much warmth and human feeling into music that's made of sliced-up 70s records, simple-sounding beats and occasional bits of Moog keyboard.
The grooves.
It's all about the grooves! These rythms are not even funky, it's more than that :)
Hippod91
Most producers using Dilla's toolkit would likely come up with some soulless vodka bar Muzak. Dilla was an artist though; you can hear the joy and melancholy in his music, and I don't know how he pulled it off.
+GOD BODY how did you meet him dude.
He was a genius. Should be mentioned with all the other great artist in history.
You're lucky as hell man, too bad hardly anyone will recognise your comment , you should record those tapes to a computer and upload them dude
This is personally my fav record of Dilla's. I know it's not experimental, but the simplicity is something that is really difficult to nail at this quality. What an inspiration still in 2018 for me. RIP you absolute genius x
2016... This Album still goes hard... R.I.P. DILLA
Copy and paste comment but 🐸☕

Untouchable originality, style and cleanliness. Rest in peace.
J Dilla was a pure genius. It's like he studied the music he was using in his beats. To have a Dilla produced beat meant a lot. I can definitely hear the Pete Rock influences in his production.
It's crazy cuz it feels like his beats were never overdone. Always put in just enough to hit the sweet spot. It seems like this man was really something special.
well said
people who dont know anything about j dilla. will not understand how great this album and all of his work is and how influential it is for many producers and musicians. an opinion is a opinion if you say so. but many people who actually have "the ear" to recognize the passion in his music will love this as much as i have. it is just really heartbreaking how many people on here cannot recognize his music, and instead of praising his hard work and the big mark he put on HIPHOP and music in general but no, people just bash him because they dont recognize the REAL. but thats just how the world works i guess. theres always gonna be haters. RIP J DILLA "JAYDEE" gone but never forgotten in the land of HIPHOP.
yea mean word keep spreadin the love man smoke marihuana yeeeeeeeeee peace
DUDE… You're so spot on, when I had only liked Dilla for about 7 months I listen to this album and I believe the only tracks I liked were Kamaal and Trashy. Now its one of the most mind-blowing works from Dilla I've listened to. CIRCUS HAS ME BUGGIN OUT.
***** Circus had me bugging too man, this shit takes me way back. I would listen to this and Illmatic everyday before school along with many Hip Hop classics.
Hahahah beauty dude... To be brutally honest I hadn't heard Illmatic until a few months ago, for a young dude like me it's hard to find all this hip hop that's not advertised anymore, but after I did get into Nas I saw him in Toronto for his Illmatic tour in October.. Best live show I've seen in my life next to The Roots.
***** Lol I know I sound old with that comment but I'm only 18. It is hard to find this stuff but you just gotta look for it now.
I dropped a few tears listening to this. Makes me so sad that someone so talented had to pass away. He will always be an inspiration to me as a producer. Thank you Dilla for all of your good vibes. You will always be remembered for your impact on HIP HOP. R.I.P
a dilla beat a day keeps the fake hiphop away
+Tom Rynders that actually made me smile
+Tom Rynders like apples and doctors, hee hee
+Tom Rynders funny thing is the dilla stuff actually shapes your taste. hard to listen to an overdose of trap snares and hats after these joints

this shit is stuff I says while high
This album has helped me to get through some very dark days over the past couple of weeks. Love to Dilla and many thanks for uploading it.
So refreshing to be in a community of heads who enjoy Dilla as much as I do. Average people in my life have no appreciation in his music when I play, To which I understand because music is music, and its all opinion based, you should listen to what stimulates you and makes you feel better. That being said, no artist has ever been able to convey the emotion that I feel in a way like J Dilla has. What stands out to me personally about DIlla is the amount of emotion and soul he can put in his music with such minimalism. It doesnt matter how much synth or overall noises you add to a song, if you do it right, it doesn't take many noises at all. J DIlla is living proof of that. R.I.P to the greatest to do it, you are missed every day
Favorite producer of all time.
***** really then why are you here, gtfo
*****
Obviously you don't know 'One for Ghost', lameass
This so called "Ghostface Killah" is obvisouly nothing but a no life kid trolling around...
***** ur taste must be very shit if u think his taste is shit
***** Isn't RUclips great?! Fuck you
This album changed my life as a musician! One of the greatest beat tapes ever made!

Dilla was hip hop's best bassist even though he didn't play bass. He was hip hop's best drummer though he barely touched a drum set. He was hip hop's best MC though he barely touched a mic. Dilla just had an ear for collaging all the sounds around him in the most rootsy hip hop way imaginable. RIP
Still one of my favourite albums to listen to. Happy birthday Dilla.
one of my favorites ever
Thank you Lord for J Dilla!! Praise the Lord and I mean that, word to God for Dilla! Thank you
If you ever skateboard with some headphones, earphones, etc.
bump strictly J Dilla beats. It is the the best combo ever!
It adds a couple inches to your pop, and keeps your style loose.
faxvaag exactly you know wasup g, as skaters this really focuses you to skate and pay attention to your style and the way you want it to come out, Jay Dees music really does help.
Grown folk music, meant for the discerning ear, a musical genius for melodic connoisseurs. Thank you for the music Mr. J DIlla.
perfect way to spend a sunday evening is getting high and listening to this with headphones on just lying on your bed with your eyes closed
don't even need to get high

Coastin' really sends you to another world
Earl for me
+glassimageproduction Kamaal for me
+AJ same love that tune.
Detroit
Cant explain what I feel when I listen to Coastin
Earl (24:16) literally makes me feel like im chillin' on the coast as the sun gets lower and lower and the sky more colorful. I could listen to it on repeat all day.
Same
Thank you for uploading this!Really big thank you!
People on here who bash J.dilla's beats are probably newbies who listen 2chainz and all that other crap. This shit has emotion. Making these kind of beats is hard.
It's sad that people don't appreciate classic hip hop beats anymore. All you need know is a catchy hook and a banging bass and that's it.
aint nothing wrong with 2 chainz
Mike Preston LMAO
Sam Blumstein what
For sure will do. Hip hop at its finest . Producers are the real superstars but yet so underpaid and unappreciated.
Yeah, finding a great sample and executing it with drums, bass and melodic flourishes is a lot harder than it sounds. People think its copy and paste but they don't think about how hard it is to find a sample that hasn't been used to death or is over familiar. On top of that, if you're going to chop up the sample to create something very different from the original, there is some arrangement that must go into it. Also, all the tempo issues of that using samples can bring can be headache enough to make some people just quit. I make beats www.soundcloud.com/s-cruz Most are trap but Im switching up my style, no worries.
J DILLA STARTED MAKING TUNES TO PLAY IN HIS DOUGHNUT SHOP, WHERE HE'D SELL, BUY AND TRADE VINYL AND EVEN DO LIVE EDITS. J DILLA MAKES MUSIC IN A WAY WHERE IT'S SIMPLE, THE BEAUTY OF THE SIMPLICITY. R.I.P
THE DILLA
audiohope OK I UNDERSTAND
what? no he didn't?
audiohope dude, his donut shop opened years after he died. What tf are you talking about?
No... No he didn´t. He Went to tech School, and he started making beats because he borrowed an mpc from Amp Fiddler.
one love friend
Get Down is so beautiful.
+Nate Alyn I got down when I heard it 11/10
Never knew about this album. Thanks for the upload
2019 still listening
Coastin' has to be up there as one of the best too, that bass is so hypnotic.
Def! With the filter sound rising too. Really hits the soul
Pyropuncher lol last thing I expected was to see you comment on a dilla album, I've been subbed to you for years man! What other musical influences you got? I'm curious
MonoclePanda I like listening to beats while programming. Vocals put me off and most electronic music is too fast paced for me to concentrate lol
U listen to Dilla lol
Pyropuncher I guess you're probably already into Nujabes but check out DJ Krush, his Zen album is so good for background while working.
In Circus (30:20) you hear the legendary jazz vibraphon player Gary Burton- The song is called "Radio" and this version can be found on his album "Times Square".
Just for those who are interested
Love dilla!! He inspires my own beats so much !!!
Detroit loves you Dilla✊🏽 gone too soon , but never forgotten RIP
Dude, it's so crazy how he would flip vocal samples in a way to change what they're saying. In the first track he flipped that vocal sample (which I've heard used a few times) to say "It's dope". That's fucking crazy and he did this a lot. His imagination and his ear was next level and in my opinion, no one has surpassed him yet.
yep, sampled from the Raymond Scott record, which is an awesome record btw
I agree. Speaking of which, the first beat here uses Steve Miller vocals, the same vocals used on Pete Rock's In The Flesh record. I bugged out when I noticed it.
Man I Love Some Dilla. Listening in the Gym Now.
I JUST SPIT THE BEST FREESTYLE EVER OVER THIS BEAT AT WORK
Keep in mind these were beats lying around from batches, and his beat batches were supposed to just be quick ruff ideas that he could shop around to the industry.
All the haters out, know that these are beats he makes quickly in the mood, could probably make them in his sleep.
Illest shit and is a blessing to hear and experience them
10 minutes it probably took him an hour and a half total to do this whole thing if you added it up. An hour and a half to create 40 minutes of material no one else can produce given all the time in the world.
I've read alot of these comments and I just have to say to the detractors- OK. You don't like the beats... OK. The simple fact of the matter is that they do have a swing, a soul that is palpable and real. Many people love the feel. The love the swing, the potential in the beats the space in between.
I am a musician and a soul keyboard player. I have studied jazz and spent time as a professional musician. That being said. I listen to Dilla and crush on Dilla because he engages my inner groove while giving me harmonic ideas that align to my personal style (not only the way I play, but also the way I live, the way I chill, the way I dance with my chick, the way I politik with fam).
The question is not so much why the people who listen to him love him, but why we relate to his voice... I love to hear Robert Glasper play these tracks, I love to hear them when I play them. It is the way I see the world musically and so I relate to his peculiar voice. Because of that, I and others like me love his music
You don't see the world my way, and that is OK. So, you are free to like what you like and I am free to continue to experience Dilla's music in a very personal way and like what I like.
I think the issue comes in when you come at us Dillaheads adversarially (not a word?) because he is not just a beatmaker but a voice. His sensibility, his simplicity, his intelligence, his grooves, his ability to make samples sound like they are being played by a human being, his technique, and his individuality all make him legend to those who appreciate him. If you don't groove; you just don't groove.
Do you.
He has a beat called 'Do You' lol
Sadly, the people who need to read this will probably be the only ones who don't.
Would be dope to see this kind of comment in every place where one finds a clash of opinions.
Can not wait to meet you in the stars Dilla~ The soul you left here...gives me life
Dilla....Classified as true hip-hop "ARTIST"...One of the most creative, unquiet minds to ever wax poetic synchopation. The "ART" of the beat.
this is seriously such a dope album thank you!
J Dilz, the dopest there was, is and will ever be. Rest in spirit of love & peace.
I love painting to his music.
My true love for hip hop & J dilla brought me here. Keep it alive, share love yo
Sometimes it's nice to JUST listen to the beat without the lyrics and hold up a conversation. Food for thought.
I can't do rap personally, doesn't resonate with me, but I love the beats.
Here 2018, still appreciating STILL in loving memory 👊🏾💜
Resss in Paradise playa!
Butts beats simply fly.
I can understand people calling these beats boring cause they are very repetitive but i personally love this though. You gotta be in a relaxed mindstate i guess to appreciate this and just dream away.
i be in this zone 24/7
Not to mention these are probably just the main ideas. These would probably be morphed into a more full song with vocals and variations etc. but I prefer the long repeating loops from him lol
speechless j dilla your a legend your presence is still within me and your music ……legendary 18:11 coasting…..RIP
whole album is dope, you got to remember this dropped 2003, who was doing this then.....???? no body and it's still hard to find the class and eye by talent now dayz
J dilla really did change my life and the way i looked at music

Never going to stop listening to this.

a beat will fade to quiet and i'll space out and then two seconds later i'm nodding my head when i hear the next beat drop. constant fire.

J. Dilla...... thank you. From a new fan.
First time listening to J Dilla... My soul just went "Wtf why did i find this now only :')" haha loving every single track on this album. Nujabes and J Dilla.. gone too soon, rest in beats.

Masterful is an understatement
These beats. Magical... Best rap producer ever. ❤️
happy bday j dilla, we will never forget u! ❤️
drope kaslu 💯💯💯
A great artist and team can make an instrumental have greater feeling adding subject matter. Just feeling the equipment in the music is a great way to vibe. Many people cant relate to music with out subject. Much respect to the beat makers.
Don't know how many times I've listened to this but it's always an inspiring work of art.
Beautiful!!🖼
Been looking for a copy of this album for years. I guess RUclips will have to work for now.
Gave this to my nephew in Las Vegas, 2 weeks ago, he rocked it at a pool party, he thought it was one of my mixed CD's, the jokes on him (lol)
you the man!
What a cool uncle!
I really want to be that cool of a uncle one day.
Legend.
musicalrevo me too dude..
Too smooth, I get goosebumps listening to these beats...
One of my favourite albums of all time. Dillas best imo. Could listen on repeat all day and not get bored - and some tunes are 4 bar loops 🤯. Blows my mind everytime. ✌️
Most raw, Dilla shit out there. For the real fans.
He made sound so surrounding and rich with very few notes. Just a minimalist. Justo a genius. I use to study for the final examns this year with it
432hz, the perfect melody
I bump this when i got work to do on my computer. Puts you at ease, Dilla my favorite producer along with Pete Rock.
These beats bring back memories as a kid in the 90's-00's. J-Dilla, the beat killa!
one of the GREATEST pieces of music that you will ever hear!
This is the first I hear J Dilla and man this shit is dooooope
J Dilla's music is like a good trip everytime
greatest instrumental album of that generation. almost a decade later, this still bombs
You know I used to ponder what black people -African Americans- That we can be proud of.
I see the Chinese ;and many Asian cultures have martial arts ; from response to oppression and I guess protection.
I see whites and some were immigrants and conquerers.
I see the Latin folks and they still have a rich culture.
But listening to this, I've found it. The roots of hip hop. That's something, in general, that I can be happy that blacks folks have honestly made that influenced the world.
I've generalized plenty and I'm sorry if I've missed plenty. The point is that, while I see different cultures and such have things that they can be instantly proud of, I see that while I was using the wrong sense to find it, I now understand with my ears that this find is sweet.
RIP JDilla-JayDee
Your music is pretty awesome.
donnell outlaw To me thats the purpose of hip hop, the recognition of unification, its the most powerful force there is, vibrations. Knowledge of self, knowing who you are, personally. Hip hop has been the sole factor of peace with myself and has created a drive for me, being white there can't be another thing that can express who I am more truly, regardless of race. Breaking down barriers and living. I can't possibly be more proud of what hip hop has done to change my life. All for the better.
donnell outlaw maybe growing up in such stark situations has aided this...nonetheless its the love of my life.
Well, that's good news to hear. It can be a great help for those who utilize it well and properly and can be a detriment for others. Still, Good on ya!
donnell outlaw you can share in human culture, don't need to segregate ourselves based on skin colour, that's just silly and won't get you anywhere.
Cephlin Bro, while I understand that, I think its good that a race, historically, should have something that they can call their own; or, at least, can be proud that has substance and say in thanks and remembrance,' Hey, that came from people like me.'
I am Christian and believe that all mankind came from Adam and Eve so, I cannot really claim specifically that rap is black alone; because that would be dumb and many people of different flavors and backgrounds have adopted rap in their lifestyle. Still, today, when you hear that someone dislikes Rap, they aren't speaking about good rhythm, tempo or flow but content and the degrading of women and etc.
And what race do they, generally speaking, associate itself with any other race than black? Moreso black than anything else. But, it makes since; unless you've lived heavily diverse and never experienced ignorance of that kind but, this is the world and most likely you'll hear stuff like that.
I mention Rock, Punk, or Metal, I usually don't hear of any associations of race except white You know what I mean by this?
So, I am merely stating that, while you are indeed right and that one music genre isn't primarily one race; because we all stem from the same human family, doesn't mean that a black kid can't say that rap and its roots, especially the good rap, came from him and people like him.
I don't mean to segregate and am glad you enjoy rap. I just think that its proper as a black man trying to identify in a world where his ancestors were taken to, its good to know that there's something he can still call his own and be proud of that.
I've had a hard time, culture-wise, associating what was good with my race as an African American. We're generally and stereo typically not known to be smart or creative. In this, I am reminded that black people are and that this is merely one of many things fellow people of color have done when they exercise their creative capacity.
Again, no hate, that's just culturally, historically and therefore racially how I feel. Peace and grace to you from God our Father. & God bless.
-Donnell Outlaw
Born on the same day as Jun Seba aye? good day for music.

FANTASTIC
Do you ever get the feeling that Dillas beats seem like they are natural entities? like they are supposed to be here in this world. Dilla is the only producer that consistently makes me go "of course, thats how its supposed to sound"
Dilla was on some other shit and so is my mind right now :)
i resonate with this so much
probably because the structure is so simple
A legend, a monster, on beats, he one, got me wanna make beats, R.I.P. one love
This is so good. Real flavour. Music!
Every so often there is a musical comet that comes in and out of this earth and blesses us with something out of this world. J. Dilla's one of them.
