Cute episode! Qi seems kinda cool. Mahjong is pretty fun though i'm mostly familiar with the US version. Lol that version of mahjong seems complicated, though maybe its just there focus on math to predict the best outcomes. The American one is mostly about memorization of different scoring sets though so a different kind of complicated. I know that most versions req u to have a winning meld or hand of 14 and some combination of matched tiles, such as 4 sets of 3 tiles and 1 set of 2 or 2 sets of 4 tiles and 2 sets of 3.

Mahjong can be confusing if you don't take your time to take in all the rules. There are a lot of variants as well. The devs are Chinese so this one uses the Chinese rules. The Yakuza games play with Japanese rules. I am most familiar with Taiwanese rules that uses 16 tiles instead of 13.
Mahjong is most like the western game Rummy where you can suppose to make melds.

i don't even think i have played Rummy either. i didn't realise there were so many different rules for the same game. That sounds so confusing. i don't think i have the patience for it. honestly mahjong just seems to be a mini-game in most games i play and never the main focus.

@@MissMultiConsole Mahjong is an old game so there would be a lot of different variants like poker has 5 card draw, 7 card stud, omaha, texas hold'em, etc.
Unless you buy a mahjong game, it will probably stay a minigame. Mahjong seems to be popular in Asia, so it will continue to show up in Asian games.
