    I want to grow Yellow Passionate fruit here in South East Phoenix in a rural area. I am told that Yellow doesn't grow well here because the roots are weak and the vines lack strength. What state and climate zone are you in to grow perfect Yellow PF? Do you have any tips and seeds? I would gladly pay you for fruit and seeds if you would be willing to share?

    Hello. I am interested in venturing into passion fruit growing. Am doing my research.
    1. Where did you plant the vine? It was not clear in the video but l suspect in a large pot?
    2. What did you feed the vine with apart from regular watering?
    3. How did you maintain the plant?

      Hello I understand this was commented a year ago but I just got my first fruit from my passion fruit vine I feel I can answer some questions. I grew mine from seed in which I pulled from the passion fruit. I had a total of 64 seeds I felt it was more enough. I planted all to a medium/large pot and placed the pot where it can receive full and partial sun. Within a few weeks I’ve gotten all the seeds to sprout. Once I saw the sprouts start to almost crowd each other I then took them out of the pot and planted each one on a makeshift fence. I recommend placing the sprouts where they can get full sun. I fertilized the soil using basic miracle grow along with miracle grow garden soil. After 3 years I’ve noticed the vines grew next to a tree that was nearby and finally bore fruit. As for maintenance u can trim with little consequence however it is important you let it grow and take off any dead vines as they tend to dry out very quickly and are very flammable. I hope this helps

      @@tonyrex1232 thank you very much. This information you have shared is very helpful.
      Question.
      Are the passion fruit sweet?
      When you read online, they strongly recommend a vine cutting instead of seed as a starter. They say seed takes a long time and may produce bitter taste.

      @@GladysHeel13 passion fruit are known to be a sour fruit. A good sweet sour. To make them really sweet you would have to wait until it gets wrinkly or blend them to a juice which is just takes some water a sugar i highly recommended it. I grew mine from seed as i didnt have any aready sprouted vines. And they are exactly as what youd expect a passion fruit to taste (mine are the yellow passion fruit)

    What kind or size opening on the green wire is that and where can I buy it. Also, where are you located that it grows so well.

      Rabbit Guard Garden Fence Welded Wire green Designed to have hands pass through easily you can find it at Home Depot or Lowe's Home Improvement, I didn't know what type of soil I have just lucky , but Passion fruit vines grow on many soil types but light to heavy sandy loams with a pH of 6.5 to 7.5 are the most suitable. Excellent drainage is absolutely necessary. Also, the soil should be rich in organic matter and low in salts, you should add Composted Cow Manure to your soil also you can find it in Home depot and Lowe's Home Improvement.

    is this variety a self pollination?

    • @bunnetthak3974
      @bunnetthak3974  3 года назад

      I let the nature do their own thing .In contrast, the yellow passion fruit variety is self-sterile and requires cross-pollination from another cultivar of passion fruit planted nearby. While the blooms can be pollinated by themselves,

      Sound like you pick too early , give them time to develop fully colored, either dark purple or dark yellow, Slightly wrinkled fruits are super ripe and will have a sweeter taste than smooth skinned fruits and keep a few more day to a week after pick before juicing .

      Did you say yellow passion fruit is “self sterile”? Did you mean self fertile? Since looks like you’re growing the yellow kind”granadilla” and you only have 1 plant with good results? Also how old is that plant itself at fruit pick time? I know they grow fast and how fast did it cover that whole pergola and fruited? Very nice.

    How long does it takes from flower to yellow fruit? Mine does not turn yellow after a few month.

    • @bunnetthak3974
      @bunnetthak3974  4 года назад +2

      yellow passion fruit vines grow faster, fruit more quickly and produce larger crops. The fruit of both yellow and purple varieties takes two to three months to ripen. give it a little more time some may turn complete yellow but they should ripen.
