    Just a suggestion.. might not be a bad idea to have the blade in the sheath when you put it on the drill press just because incase the drill bit decided to grab the handle of the knife would have pretty much turned into a blender with your hand right in front of the blade.

    I ordered a CS mora by accident, so I cleaned the blade to make sure it didn’t have residue, then I soaked it overnight in white vinegar, it came out with a darkish grey bluing . I am satisfied, but I also ordered a SS mora, I keep them in my various different bags

    • @sosteve9113
      @sosteve9113  Год назад

      For the price they cost you can all !kind of things with them,and don't feel bad if its a failure.
      If you take the blade of your CS Mora with the darkish grey gluing already,and want to experiment more,
      Take some mustard and put some spots or strokes over the blade,let it on overnight.
      When you swipe the mustard of the blade, you have a totally different pattern.

      Some kind of challenge yourself with it,if it's possible and what kind of troubles you have to overcome while building.
      Need to be practical as well ,many carry a extra tin,but with this approach you can double your carried items with you.
      And not to bulky that you don't bother to carry it with you.

    I was scratching my head at what you were setting into the handle. It looked like a bearing. And then it hit me and man thats a genius idea!!! I'll be wrapping one of my sheaths with Survivorcord and I'd sure like to know what that hose material is that you were using. Thank you for sharing your ideas, awesome video!

    • @sosteve9113
      @sosteve9113  Год назад +1

      Yes it is a bearing ,I modded the drill by grinding of the center point.
      Otherwise it will collide with the tang inside the handle.
      Hope all was clear,if you have any questions,don't hesitate to ask,ill be happy to answer it.
      The rope that I use for the easy release wrap is parascord 550,but of course this can be done with any cord.
      The bearing is still in use,and still stuck inside the handle,no wearing out or cracking of the two component glue that I used.

    • @jimbusmaximus4624
      @jimbusmaximus4624 Год назад

      @@sosteve9113 I understand, as I have worked in a machine shop. I have German and Scandinavian blood. My German side wants to be milling steel to ±0.003" tolerance and engineering tooling, but my Nordic side wants to be in the woods living off only natural resources and navigating by the stars. So your content appeals to me!
      One thing I love to use that I think you might appreciate is Survivorcord. Its just like 550 Paracord but has strands inside for tinder, fishing line, and a line for trapping or repair. Its amazing stuff. Firecord by Texas Bushcraft is a little cheaper but just as good. ✌️

    • @sosteve9113
      @sosteve9113  Год назад +1

      @@jimbusmaximus4624 I sure appreciate your feed back,I going to look for the survivor cord that you mention.
      Going to test it and probably rewrap the knife sheath with it.
      It sounds like a very interesting piece of gear.
      If you have the chance to visit the Nordic countries on day, your going to love it for sure.
      Lots of history and Nordic sages over there.I visited the biggest rune stone they ever found,discovered in a church's wall.
      They took it out and placed it,in front of the entrance of the church with a specially build roof over it,to protect it.

      @sosteve9113  Год назад +1

      @@jimbusmaximus4624 i was indeed talking about the Rök ,you would expect many tourists there, but it's very calm.
      You can really take your time to look around.
      I intended to go to the Oseberg ship,but I was short on time on my trip.
      Till I read during the trip,that there was a open air museum with craftsmen making viking ships the old way,and you can make a short boat trip with one of them.
      I chose that place,it was the vikingship museum in Roskilde.
      And walking distance the Domkirke ,where all the kings and queens are buried of Denmark.
      Two interesting places you can visit while you are there.
      I just ordered some cord that you suggested,looking forward to get it in the mail.

      The spinner was a idea that I had for a while,now I found the time to modify it.
      Cordage is a quick release around the sheath ,you can apply it on whatever you want

    I have the same stuff with me when I am hiking. The only difference is, I put all the loose hooks etc in a small box. I have lots of pockets so no problem. When you need a hook, 2 seconds and I’ve got it.

    • @sosteve9113
      @sosteve9113  4 года назад

      Your option is with no doubt more easily to access those hooks.
      This option is as a secondary option if you drop or loose your equipment.

    When did you get the bearing from , and what are it's diamensions

    • @sosteve9113
      @sosteve9113  6 месяцев назад

      If I remember correctly,I bought this bearing at a flea market for one dollar.
      And eye ball it if it would fit the handle.
      thickness is important ,I didn't want to drill the metal tang in the middle of the molded handle.

    • @sosteve9113

      Good question,I used some wax type tape,placed on both sides
      You can see it in the video,purple tape.
      The bottom that goes inside the handle,stays in the glue.the other side I peeled of.

    Dat heb je mooi gedaan ! Met al die items en wat vaardigheden kom je zeker een eind met dat mes :) Ik durf niet te batonnen met deze Mora's daarmee heb ik er 2 kapot geslagen maar dat kan meer aan mij liggen dan aan het mes natuurlijk want niet elk mes is geshikt daar voor natuurlijk. Vooral de quick release van het touw samen met het lagertje vind ik geweldig ! Groet Martin.

    • @sosteve9113
      @sosteve9113  5 лет назад +1

      Bedankt Martin,het was een ideetje dat al geruime tijd aan het broeden was.
      2 stuk geslagen lol,nu weer je waar de limiet ligt van dit mes.
      The quick release leent zich perfect voor dit project,ik ken zelfs de naam niet van deze knoop,maar dat heb ik met meer knopen,ze liggen me of ze liggen me niet.
      Het modden van deze messen kunnen zeer uiteenlopend zijn.
      Bij dit was het centraal punt,het lagertje

      Het zijn leuke mesjes die nog niet te duur zijn,als het mislukt is het nog niet zo erg.
      Het was een gokje met dat lagertje maar het is gelukt,en het lagertje werkte nog.
      Nu nog de grote test en houd het ook als het word gebruikt.
