Just a suggestion.. might not be a bad idea to have the blade in the sheath when you put it on the drill press just because incase the drill bit decided to grab the handle of the knife would have pretty much turned into a blender with your hand right in front of the blade.

I ordered a CS mora by accident, so I cleaned the blade to make sure it didn’t have residue, then I soaked it overnight in white vinegar, it came out with a darkish grey bluing . I am satisfied, but I also ordered a SS mora, I keep them in my various different bags
For the price they cost you can all !kind of things with them,and don't feel bad if its a failure. If you take the blade of your CS Mora with the darkish grey gluing already,and want to experiment more, Take some mustard and put some spots or strokes over the blade,let it on overnight. When you swipe the mustard of the blade, you have a totally different pattern.

Some kind of challenge yourself with it,if it's possible and what kind of troubles you have to overcome while building. Need to be practical as well ,many carry a extra tin,but with this approach you can double your carried items with you. And not to bulky that you don't bother to carry it with you. Hopefully you never need them of course,also fun weekend to make . How is everything ,did you had some snow yet?

I was scratching my head at what you were setting into the handle. It looked like a bearing. And then it hit me and man thats a genius idea!!! I'll be wrapping one of my sheaths with Survivorcord and I'd sure like to know what that hose material is that you were using. Thank you for sharing your ideas, awesome video!
Yes it is a bearing ,I modded the drill by grinding of the center point. Otherwise it will collide with the tang inside the handle. Hope all was clear,if you have any questions,don't hesitate to ask,ill be happy to answer it. The rope that I use for the easy release wrap is parascord 550,but of course this can be done with any cord. The bearing is still in use,and still stuck inside the handle,no wearing out or cracking of the two component glue that I used.

My German side wants to be milling steel to ±0.003" tolerance and engineering tooling, but my Nordic side wants to be in the woods living off only natural resources and navigating by the stars. So your content appeals to me! One thing I love to use that I think you might appreciate is Survivorcord. Its just like 550 Paracord but has strands inside for tinder, fishing line, and a line for trapping or repair. Its amazing stuff. Firecord by Texas Bushcraft is a little cheaper but just as good. ✌️

It sounds like a very interesting piece of gear. If you have the chance to visit the Nordic countries on day, your going to love it for sure. Lots of history and Nordic sages over there.I visited the biggest rune stone they ever found,discovered in a church's wall. They took it out and placed it,in front of the entrance of the church with a specially build roof over it,to protect it.

I intended to go to the Oseberg ship,but I was short on time on my trip. Till I read during the trip,that there was a open air museum with craftsmen making viking ships the old way,and you can make a short boat trip with one of them. I chose that place,it was the vikingship museum in Roskilde. And walking distance the Domkirke ,where all the kings and queens are buried of Denmark. I have the same stuff with me when I am hiking. The only difference is, I put all the loose hooks etc in a small box. I have lots of pockets so no problem. When you need a hook, 2 seconds and I’ve got it.
Your option is with no doubt more easily to access those hooks. This option is as a secondary option if you drop or loose your equipment. What type of fish do you catch ? Do you have extra lures? Atb Steve

If I remember correctly,I bought this bearing at a flea market for one dollar. And eye ball it if it would fit the handle. thickness is important ,I didn't want to drill the metal tang in the middle of the molded handle.
Good question,I used some wax type tape,placed on both sides You can see it in the video,purple tape. The bottom that goes inside the handle,stays in the glue.the other side I peeled of.

Using the bearing for the bow drill divit is a better idea than they use on production knives. If i were to do it on my knife, i would also use a bearing. Great job on everything.
