Wow, Rockwell 6c. I just went and bought one at Pasteur’s in NYC a few days ago. I was in NYC and just had to visit that shop. Unbelievable. Amazing. Thank you for posting a video of the Rockwell 6c. All the information I need.
I just went there the other day and met the owner. He talked about a meetup in June. I went crazy- got PAA, pre de provence, barrister and mann, and a few other things. I want to go back and get even more. It's a sickness, but not the most expensive hobby i have
@@npwilliamson for me the Karve plate C compares the closest to the 6C plate #3 & Merkur 34C. Although I find Karve plate C to be more comfortable while seemingly more efficient. I've heard the B plate also gives a smooth & close shave
Love the Rockwell. It brought the fun and enjoyment back to my shaves. I use plates 2 and 3 for near to daily shaves. It's great with the same Gillette you used. I bought my first Boar last week in the Semogue Owners Club. Cheers for now Nick.
Does it happen that one need to re-lather for next pass with boar shaving brush?? I have one boar brush, not from a reputed brand though, it eats all lather. For next pass i need to re-lather. Its been 6 months now, hairs are split alot, still its the same.
Picked up a Rockwell 2C in gunmetal (I only use the #3 side of the plate) when my Merkur 34C broke after 6 years. I gotta say the Rockwell's blade exposure is perfect every time, nothing to fiddle with. I think it's much better for around the same price as a 34C.
Nick I stumbled upon your videos last year when I was looking to switch from Gillette. I immediately fell in love with your videos and tips. Thanks so much for posting and sharing. I was upset when I finally saw you had stopped posting (after I binged several episodes). Glad to see you back, you convinced me to switch to a DE razor!
Welcome back, Nick. Congratulations on your new baby and new career as a Dr! I am newer to wet shaving and learned a lot from your past videos. Best wishes.
Hi Nick. Real good soap and razor it seems. You know I`ve watched guys (and I`ve done it myself) roll their hand across a dry brush. The bristles being dry are probably quite brittle and maybe more apt to break and this may be one reason a brush might shed more hairs. Just a thought. Thanks for the video.👍
Nice shave. Your videos along with other wet shavers have been a big help to me. In the last 2 months I have bought 100 Astra SP blades, Proraso Red soap, a Semogue 830, and I have some Thayers Witch Hazel coming tomorrow. I have never enjoyed shaving as much as I am now. I'm still getting some slight irritation on the back lower part of my neck (hairs growing in all kind of damn directions). Other than that things are pretty good. I was using Feather blades before I got the Astras and I have noticed less irritation after switching. I'm looking forward to trying Stirling since I've heard nothing but good things about it.
You are absolutely correct about stainless vers a plaited metal, unless the stainless is highly polished. I purchased a Rockwell that was plaited in Rhodium from Razor Imperium, the next day I gave my Rockwell stainless to a new wet shaver!
Hi Nick good to see you back. I use the Rockwell 6c plate 4 for my daily shave and I am very pleased with it. Look forward to your new videos and many thanks for your time making them.
Great to have you back, first of all! You inspired me to do an evening shave and pull out my Semogue 620, which also has been sitting in the back of my cabinet for a couple of years, and it shedded a bit as well during my shave. So guess it is normal for those brushes, but it was a great reminder of how great a brush it is!
It's been a while since I've have seen you post a video! Great to have you back. You are the one that got me into wet shaving in the first place... And for that, I thank you!
The Semouge 830 is great face lathering brush. I was surprised how soft it was even before I broke it in. Its getting better at keeping lather for multiple passes as it breaks in. Love the clear handle and the groves it has make it comfortable to grip. The only thing I didn't like was the cheap Semouge sticker on the handle I took it off with some acetone. It's a shame that yours is losing hair mine has lost some here and there nothing noticable.
Great shave Nick. I love the Rockwell 6c, but I have pretty much been using the EJ 3one6 since I received it for Xmas as a gift. Paired with a Feather blade, it just seems like that razor was made specifically for my face. Thanks for the awesome content!
I’m going to pick up a 6C based upon your comments. I was given a 6S over a year ago, fine razor, but I thought you made a few solid points in favor of the 6C. I’m with you on the brush, one of the absolute best brushes for the money I have found. Great to enjoy your videos again. Take care, Zac.
Glad to see you're back! Your reviews have definitely helped point me in the direction of which soaps/blades to try out. Thanks for making these videos!
Great shave Nick. I love the Rockwell 6c. It gives me great shaves. My 830 brush is also starting to shed. I love both of these products. Keep up the good work.
Another tip... if you have hard water like I do use baking soda in the sink bowl to give the water a softer, slicker feel, also helps build a better lather.
Hey Nick, if the R3 plate is your sweet spot (as it has been for me for nearly 2 years), the Karve CB razor with an A plate is a strong contender. If you'd like to try it out for a week or two, I'd be glad to lend the stainless version of it to you and drop it off in person somewhere in the city.
4 plate is medium aggressive. Just for shits & grins, I gifted myself a GSC R41+ Tribute figuring it would be too aggressive and get pifd. Nope. Feels like Karve D plate or Rockwell 4 plate. Somewhat aggressive while very smooth. Fwiw, now my daily driver. Highly recommended.
I also have a Rockwell safety razor, I believe for the different plates that the number on the plate that is facing “down” is the number of aggressiveness that you are using. Does this sound right Nick/everyone? Nice to see shaving again Nick! Have you ever tried Cremo shave cream? Would love to see your thoughts on it.
Hey Nick. I wanted to ask about the quality of the razor. I’ve heard in some case the cap has started to corrode and the finish coming off the razor. What are your thoughts on that topic?
hey nick can you do a video for guys who have sensitive skin , fine beard hair and only shave once a week please? which blades which soap etc many thanks,
I swear it’s the plate that you can read the numbers when it’s all together on the bottom is the number plate level your using not the one facing up. I’ve asked multiple people cuz I was confused and they said that’s what it is.
That's correct, you see the number on the bottom as it is assembled. Otherwise you would have to take it apart to see what plate you have. For example, I use the 4 plate and the other side is 2. Once the razor is together you should see the number 4 on the bottom of the plate.
Great shave Nick! I'm a HUGE fan of the Rockwell 6S. I haven't tried 6C but I;m sure it shaves very similarly. I wonder of the change in water in your new place could be effecting the knot in that brush? I have no idea, just a thought.
Another great video, Nick! I'm jonesing while I'm waiting to receive 6c, and checking tracking several times per day, so your video is pacifying me for the meantime. It will be my 2nd razor, so I was looking to find something adjustable and more aggressive than the 1960 Super Speed that I inherited from my Dad. I chose it over the 6s for the same reasons as you. Funny, I tried a the 7 O'clock Super Stainless for the first time today in the SS, and really liked it. I'm also a fan of the 7 O'clock Sharpedge (yellow). They seem to behave similar in the SS.
Welcome back! Well, man, I feel even better now about the Rockwell 6C that I ordered today from razoremporium! You were one of the guys that got me into wet shaving. You taught me about blooming the soap and a cleanup pass with the hand instead of a brush. Thanks. My question, would you do a review of an Uncle Jon's soap if I sent one to you? It tends to be a little thirsty as he formulated it to be flexible with different types of water. Oh, one last thing. Are you on Facebook ss Nick Shaves? I realize you have a newborn and a new career. I hope you can continue doing this, but I wish you luck either way.
Question 1. Which brush do you prefer to, Semogue 830 or 1305? Recently I purchased 1305 and did break-in, lathering and rinse off, then in cold water jar brush knot level in refrigerator one night. But when I checked it next morning, the handle was cracked. The sellor informed me that temperature change quick technique is nonsense and makes the brush worse and handke crack. How about the acryl handle 830? No cracking problem in soaking before use? Question 2. Compared to adjustable one plate razor like Merkur futur, progress etc, Rockwell 6C(3 plates hand change) is not a bit hassle? I'm on the fence of Merkur 34C HD, Rockwell 6C or other one plate twist adjustable razor. Which one do you recommend for me(mild, everyday shaver, not so many beard). Thanks! I enjoy your contents and they are big help for me.

I think you'll really enjoy it.
Yes. I want to see what Nick thinks of the Karve razor as well.
Is Karve C plate about equivalent with Rockwell R4 setting?
