I have taken a lot of subway or tram or whatever it is called all around the world, but nothing beats Skytrain. It is the only inner city train system that is 'enjoyable'
It looks like the last of the old style signage has been taken down except for a few places like the rarely used third stadium-chinatown platform. I hope someone has preserved a few examples all the old skytrain stuff belongs in a museum
I am from Argentina and I was visiting Vancouver in early October 2024. I don't know why at the Sapperton Expoline station, the trains run on the left. Greetings from Argentina. Fausto Brindisi.-
They do it is called the Detroit People Mover. It is the exact same system as the Vancouver Skytrain, but they don’t use the newer cars and only has 1 line.
When an Expo Line Train terminates at Production-Way University, where will it go next? How can it turn back to the Expo Line tracks from Production-Way University?
The train goes past Production Way, then stops at some point that has a junction, so that it can merge onto the track going the opposite direction for a westbound trip back to Waterfront. Once it gets back to Waterfront, it may go back to Production Way-University, or to King George instead, for its eastbound journey (it follows a pattern from Waterfront - two King George trains + one Production Way train during peak hours and one King George train + one Production Way train at all other times. Rinse and repeat.
oh I know this city from "evolution of the rails" here on youtube, thinking this last stop would have a separate platform for the terminating train, watch this ummm ok so where do this train go to get out of the way of the millennium line, down to the next crossover
I am there is no babies on public transportation in Vancouver when I was there Canada plus the sky train is very efficient better than the metropolitan area express trimet MAX
The skytrain Expo line (I call it the Ethnic line) can take you from downtown to Surrey in half an hour. I call it: from downtown to browntown in 30 mins!!
SkyTrain makes TTC look like garbage by comparison. Your infrastructure is built in collaboration with transit, not like ours (Toronto), that struggles to remain consistently operational.
Both are better than what we have in the US. Both Phoenix & Houston have new but inefficient systems. They travel miles less than 35 mph, and constantly have to stop at street lights. Thats a shitty system for cities with over a million inhabitants.
It can be a bit confusing, because the section between Lougheed and Production Way are both Millenium Line and Expo Line... And from Wikipedia "Prior to October 22, 2016, the Millennium Line shared tracks with the Expo Line from Waterfront station to Columbia station in New Westminster..." Now the Millenium Line includes the Evergreen extension.
Production Way-University, Sapperton and Braid stations became part of the Expo Line when the Evergreen Extension was finished, giving the Expo Line three terminus stations (Waterfront, King George and Production Way-University). The train stops at Columbia Station before heading to the switch track so if you’re on a King George bound train but want to go to Production Way-University, Braid or Sapperton you can get off at Columbia and wait for a train heading on the route you want. Think that’s weird? Sapperton Station’s emergency exit isn’t just used for emergencies anymore- TransLink disconnected the alarm and added a Compass reader, turning it into a normal entrance/exit in 2016 just so workers at a nearby brewery have better transit access!
I love all those hills it climbs - that's the magic of linear induction motors, I guess.

So pleasant to take the skytrain again. You sould put the time you recorded the video. Looks like 5:00 PM.
Thank you so much for this video, big help. I was looking for this route.
This looks great and I heard this line is almost 40 years old
I remember as a kid I often go in the sky train weekly. How nostalgic

If the U.S. can get its sh*t together, I would like to visit Vancouver again later this year. Unfortunately, we're stuck here with COVID. :(
Yep. A reminder that my return to Vancouver is way overdue.

Thank you 😍💗💗
Wonderful!!
When an Expo Line Train terminates at Production-Way University, where will it go next? How can it turn back to the Expo Line tracks from Production-Way University?
I was wondering the same thing.
Colin Chin it goes back to waterfront then goes to king George station
The train goes past Production Way, then stops at some point that has a junction, so that it can merge onto the track going the opposite direction for a westbound trip back to Waterfront. Once it gets back to Waterfront, it may go back to Production Way-University, or to King George instead, for its eastbound journey (it follows a pattern from Waterfront - two King George trains + one Production Way train during peak hours and one King George train + one Production Way train at all other times. It just reverses and goes back the other way. As you can see in the video there are a lot of switches before/after stations that let it switch sides.
Unless it says its going out of service you can stay on it while it switches over.
Nice memories!
Ever done lafarge to waterfront? It’s fun.
I miss Vancouver!
Do the people in the control room have cameras to the platforms and make announcements to those stations if someone is doing something.?
very late, but yes

How lucky you are to live in Vancouver..

Great videos. Which camera did you use and how was it mounted (so that the vibrations weren’t noticeable in the video)? Thanks.

Not gonna lie the train sounds like the ttc SRT and the train it self kinda looks like it to also the tracks
Cool!
By the way why is it on a mark l
I like the mark ll or lll
I guess the only way to reduce noise is to have no one ride the skytrain
Is it just me or does the kid at 1:22 look like Lia McHugh

TTC line 3 nostalgia
what if the train went 999999mph
Dude just pushed past the kid to get to the seat at the front.
I really miss my cousin
The greenery is nice, shame the rest is bland rectangular buildings and concrete parking lots haha
My golden days were in Vancity 2008 to 2011.
Can you add the crackhead swearing on his speaker phone at his drug dealer for not fronting him some drugs?

It is expo line, millennium line ends at vcc station
