I used to choose quiet days to visit and I would spend hours on the footplates of engines in the shed listening to 50s thundering by on the Oxford workings. One of the most atmospheric places in railway preservation, which your video has captured well.
It's certainly very peaceful on quiet days - and easier to film. Though some movement and bustle, in my opinion, can add to the video in some shots. Agree with you though, the atmosphere is amazing. Thanks very much.
Nice video! Didcot is just down the road from Abingdon where I live but I have been there loads of times since I was a child but my last visit was in May 2015 when it was the Met steam gala.
@@TheSouthernerYTChannel I try to visit Swanage but my father is a member there and he visits when he and my stepmum go to Milford on Sea for their holiday. My last time at the railway was in 2009 with my local Phab Club and used the disabled coach there.
Remember well the trips I had behind 6998..7808 and 5900 back in the 80's. Sad to think that they'll never steam again in my lifetime cos' they're doing all the "new builds". etc. Anyway ..that was a nice look round. Thank you.
While it can be considered a shame, at least they have run in preservation; and are subsequently stored out of the elements, preventing any serious deterioration. I will stand to their defense on that. Of the 8 locomotives Didcot are currently working on, both on site and away, only two (1014, and 4709) are new builds; both filling gaps in the GW motive power fleet, as well as being very capable locomotives for the heritage circuit. Of the other 6, 4709 is something of a celebrity, so will attract plenty of welcome attention - and alongside the Saint, will result in two Didcot 4-6-0's in operation. 7202 is a barry restoration; with no other 7200's turning a wheel in preservation so far, it's great to see it receiving attention. The other four; 1363, 1466, 2409 and 3650, are all ideal workhorses for the Didcot site, as well as reasonable for loaning out to heritage railways to provide revenue. This channel has no affiliations with Didcot, apart from being a happy visitor. But there is certainly method in their decisions. Cheers
3 videos in a row? Wow. Well it’s probably because everything is back open and we all need to get out of the house for a bit instead of being stuck inside for ages

That was different, a good chance to photograph all their stock with no interruptions!!! Nice capture of "Duck & the Diesel Engine"!!! 👍🏻👏
Thanks very much, Bob! It certainly made for a pleasant day, with a bit more room in the shed.
Nice video. Nice to see Trojan back at didcot looking very smart. You have certainly racked up the miles Swanage, Paignton and didcot
Cheers. Trojan really does look fantastic.
Great to see Trojan looking so resplendent now that she is back at Didcot. Nice footage👍
Was nice to see Trojan back - hoping to catch it in steam eventually. Thank you.
excellent shots👍 nice to see things getting back to some normality🤔
Thank you. Was nice to be out again.

Cheers! Very lucky to have Didcot on your doorstep.
@@TheSouthernerYTChannel Plus Chinnor (I'm a life member there) and Wallingford as well!
Very lucky indeed. Then again, can't complain with Swanage so local.

Nice one

They really do an excellent job of giving the feel of a working steam shed.
Is Dick II still in ticket currently?
It's certainly a wonderful atmosphere there.
6023? Out of ticket, as of Autumn last year.
4:43 what locomotive is that?

Trying to rack up the mileage while it's possible.
@@TheSouthernerYTChannel That makes sense
Next project really ought to be the gas turbine...
