It matches what the no stock models coming out soon do I believe. The refreshed Model 3 Highland has a single mode action to activate Auto Pilot. I believe I experienced the same behavior when I test drove the new Model S.
I love this feature. I have FSD and never once used traffic aware cruise control. Also if I turn the wheel to disengage it used to drop down into traffic aware cruise control which I didnβt like. For example, pulling up to my house once when I first got the car I turned the wheel to disengage and it kept speeding into my driveway haha. I learned quickly that you have to disengage with brakes or stalk to fully take all control back. New option is better. Me likey. Thank you.
