He has an earlier video tour with before and after pics. The amazing part he omitted here was a tour of the basement and attic. The attic is huge but the basement looks bigger than the house itself. He could put in another house in his basement.

I saw the thumbnail, didn't read the title of the video, and thought to myself that looks like Nick Murray's house, then I read the title. It is amazing what things can stick in your head that you recall at a later time .

He's paying for the neighborhood. That's a very upscale family area in Fairfield. 30 minutes away in a more secluded area. Half the price!

I enjoyed this guy's narration and his sense of humor.
Connecticut is one of the most expensive states to live in partly because of its proximity to New York City.
What a million dollars will buy for housing varies greatly.
Not just state to state but also within each state. In some states including most of Pennsylvania, a million dollars would come with a lot more land to it and a larger home.
Most 'new construction' which started in the late 1980s is very much a cookie-cutter design.
Around here we call them Lego houses or Smurf Villages after the cartoon.
From a construction viewpoint, new construction wooden frame homes are built with incredibly cheap materials yet they're more expensive than ever before.
They are the enemy of firefighters.
More firefighters are seriously injured or die in new construction homes than in older homes by far.
Due to the type of constructional design and materials used.
In certain states like Florida, many homes are built with block or cement because they do to being better in hot humid climates and more protection against storm damage.
It's very rare to find true brick or stone newly built homes.😊

In another video about his house, he showed the basement. It is unfinished, but extremely large. It could be finished and make the house much bigger. The stairs to the attic also shows a large unfinished space. That, too, can be finished. This house is larger than the average house in the US. It is also new with all of the latest features. It appears that this man has a nice income!

exactly..this house is in Connecticut and only 45 minutes from NYC. This same house is similar to many houses in the midwest of the US and it would cost half the cost in Nebraska-Kansas than in Connecticut.

It’s hard for Brits to understand what’s normal housing and what isn’t. This house is really no big deal. But,Because it’s a million as he said makes it seem not average. It’s a million because of where it’s located. You can see what we would call a mini mansion for 350/400 in parts of the south. It would definitely make that house look average.

I’ve seen another tour of his house that included the basement and attic which are both huge! That’s quite a large house, especially for a single person, and is probably why it’s as expensive as it it…3,500 sq ft and also in Connecticut near NYC.

There’s a show called “House Hunters” where a a new potential home buyer & real estate agent looks at 3 different home throughout the U.S. & then chooses at the end which one they chose. It’s a good show to because it details each home’s size, the number of bed/bath, specific needs/wants of the buyer & price. It’s also less than 30 minutes without commercials. You’ll see people looking at homes to studio apartments, from Alaska to NYC & everything in between.

I don't think there is a standard American home. I've lived in an old New England farmhouse, a modern home, townhouse, and an apartment.. All were normal for the area. I live in the DC metro area now. We have million dollar homes to small apartments and townhomes. My cheap apartment here is probably luxurious to someone in a cheap nyc apartment. My British friend is fairly sure his flat would fit in that garage on the video...American homes and lifestyle and what is normal in one place is luxury (or crappy) in another area.

Connecticut is a pretty pricy area of the country and real estate is steep. You coud get the same house with the same (or a bit more) square footage for about half the cost, in certain states. On the flip side, in other parts of the US, it could cost you a million $$ or more, just for the land without any structure on it. As they say in the real estate business, it's all about 3 things... location, location, location! Nice reaction!

Garden space is never a waste! You all in the UK must not have yards to speak of, but here we (most) live in them. This same house would be 500k-700k where I am in Florida. The NE metro areas are more expensive than the majority of the country, just like the West Coast is more expensive than most areas.

My maid is horrible and she should be fired so I would never have my home on utube. Our yard is beautiful but my yard man really enjoys our plants. We have 5 acres and to some people it would be strange, but we have a pistol range on our property and we have part of a rifle range between us and our neighbor. Where I live its more common. We just had the 4th of July celebrations and our neighborhood sounded like a mini war. One neighbor has a new toy a Class 4 automatic machine gun. He was having fun on the 4th. We didn't shoot because we have a tree that fell in the range and its been so hot that my husband has cut all of them but the last one. Big wind blew down 4 trees. The maid will never stop being lazy, so my home will not be on any public channel. Kinda hard to fire yourself though!
