Pete the truck in the goodwill is made my ERTL out of Dyersville, IA where the movie Field Of Dreams was made. My husband and I visited the town and took a tour of the toy factory. They also made semi trucks that my husband collected. The name is pronounced like turtle. The reason goodwill doesn’t have a lot of items for resale is because everything that’s donated goes through their own pickers who search for value online and then list the items for auction on the website. GW is very greedy and can’t really be called a thrift store. Especially when they have purses and bags locked in cabinets! The Duncan Miller parking meter lamp is really cool!
Goodwill funds it's job training programs, veteran services and other community programs through it's stores. Sometimes they get a donation that's valued much higher than the average, sometimes worth hundreds of dollars. I don't know what you mean by "goodwill doesn't have a lot of items for resale". Every time I go the shelves are full. They aren't greedy, just because they want to get what they can for the higher value items. Goodwill doesn't exist just to make things easy for flippers.
@@asterix811 actually that's all a scam. the owner of the goodwill franchise spent millions on commercials to convince the public goodwill is doing good, when in fact its just a scheme. people donate stuff for free, they take all the good stuff, sell it online and instore and then give the least amount back possible to vets, employees. the whole 'training employee program' is a scam itself
thank you Peter for your continued support to the reseller community - I've done really well recently and I put it down to so much I have learned from you - I love all your videos and you'll always get a big thumbs up from me - all the way from the UK
Tip for thrifting: If an electronic device does not power up, make sure the outlet strip itself is working. Not all have power indicator lights, not all themselves are working.
I just bought a CRT TV in a thrift store that did not power up. 3 receptacles later in a different section of the store I finally got the TV to power up.
At 3:34, a nice vintage vacuum tube portable record player atop the shoe rack (Next to the sewing machine). Lots of interest in those at the right price.
@5:02 My favorite section in all Goodwill's... I just recently last week found at my local Goodwill store a 1976-1977 Pioneer SX-550 in decent shape with normal lifting of the veneer sides and lifting but some gorilla glue fixed that... It powered up and flickered for a a min then lighted up... But for $9.49 it was worth taking it home for further inspection... I opened it outside my patio and blew out any dust in there but wasn't much at all.... Took it inside and noticed 1 bulb of the 3 out no biggie... I sprayed contact spay on all potentiometer switches and all resistors and capacitors look good and holding their value... I ordered the bulbs and they came in.. Time to replace all 3...
Some nice charity shops in the UK, though like in the US, it is hard now to find nicely priced good stuff. Better off frisking the suit pockets, you might find a wallet or some old banknotes.
My grandfather owned a pawn shop for over 25 years and he had a parking meter like that one from Dallas. It was not a lamp. We still have it and it is in my sons room. Super Cool
That parking meter light is so cool so is the record player a friend of ours gave us a retro recordplayer, atrack player and radio entertainment center its huge looks very old.
I love the parking meter lamp... As far as the Coach bags, I never could understand their appeal. I think they're all ugly and believe people like them because they're expensive and they see them as a status symbol. No thanks. I feel the same about Louis Vitton: ugly, boring, overpriced.
Oklahoma City was birthplace of the parking meter. A couple years back they removed everyone and replaced with electronic kiosk for 10 or more spaces. I got a ticket cause I didn't know about this scheme.
I repaired VCR's for several years the Mitsubishi ones are a pain lots of video issues trackproblems etc. hard to work on an engineering nightmare a repairmans nightmare. I don't miss them never owned one and never will.
Matchbooks in cases: Those were Novelty (joke/fake places) Matchbooks in set form. Sold as a set with case by Tip N Twinkle Roanoke.Va 1950's They are cool but even Complete, Mint Sets sell for less than 15.00 FYI
Hi Pete. I have have found out the hard way that just powering up a vcr does not mean it works. Many of the ones I have bought to resell have other issues such as eating tapes, ejecting tapes right after they are loaded and many other issues. So I am shying away from those items from now on. Curious did yours work ?
I sold Parking meter lamp in 2008 in Florida for $165. Bought in Madison, Wi for $15. They were made by the Retired Policeman's Assoc.. in Chicago I WAS TOLD.
We have much better in the UK Ian, lots of smaller ones, some of them don't use the Internet to price before sale. You won't find bargains in Oxfam, but lots of our charity shops contain good stuff.
Couple years ago I got an Xbox 360 Slim (those black HDMI ones) in perfect condition and two controllers for $12, only time I’ve been “lucky” at a thrift store 😎
Ye but look at are little charity shops compared to there large shops obviously there's more space for items and more things to find bigger varaities, plus love the ideas of garage sales instead of bootsales. I personally thing I'll do 10× better in USA then here in UK in that area of work. But that's just my opinion.
Yeah. I don't understand Pete's thinking on that given his buying selling strategy. (I guess it's something he feels he wouldn't be able to sell, and the $15 price was too high for something he'd buy to use in the shop...?)
What I usually do when I get DVD players at the second hand stores I usually buy universal remotes that's what all my remote controls for all my items are is universal
At least your Goodwill has reasonable prices...here in Baltimore they charge twice as much as the prices you show...I bet by summer folks will be hocking their stuff like crazy as the evictions start
Gr8 pick and thrifting Pete.. That vertical turn table is really cool and would look nice in your PC.. Also that golf balls display case would look awesome with vintage Hot Wheels arranged in it.. Nicely done.. Stay safe homie..👍💕🔥⚾😷
I cant believe you didnt get rid of those spider eggs and dust before you bought that bag Pete...I would be thinking about them hatching in my truck all the time I was driving along!!! Ew!!!
Pedro, you don't need any advice! Your channel is doing really well now. You have a great vibe and personality, Pete should be asking you for advice now! Take care and more success to you.
15:04 I avoid the linear tracking turntables as they are next to impossible to get repaired economically for resale. Bang & Olufsen included.

Coach still has a big following, just not those fabric ones.
Yea and they made too many knockoffs
I love shopping in thrift stores we here in the UK call them charity shops bargains galore
Do U love it 🤔 🙄
you threw away a mitsubishi remote probably for that system lol!
Piotr ~ thrifting the Gucciwill . . . . Priceless !
Awe pete you’re a good man God bless you and you’re family always
Man your goodwill has good stuff. Ours here in town just garbage.
Same here and the prices are the same if you were to buy these things new 🧐 ridiculous
Exactly. Ours is all junk
Our is in a wealthy area and looks like a sh*t hole.

You can donate your snow to New Mexico 😁

That's Vuitton
As soon as you get rid of the remote, you find the unit it goes to. You should try Hyper rewind on it to see if it will eat the tape before you buy.
Oklahoma City was birthplace of the parking meter. A couple years back they removed everyone and replaced with electronic kiosk for 10 or more spaces. I got a ticket cause I didn't know about this scheme.
Our goodwill sucks 90% of it is just clothes and the other part is broken computer monitors or stuffed animals
Ours also. Not worth the time and the junk is expensive!
Pete, that linear turntable is so cool, even if it does need an extra belt. That is rad 🙌
Some kid had a lot of fun with that dump truck. That’s what they’re made for!
Just from what you showed I can see several fake Coach bags in them cases.
Those coach bags are sooo old Coach is still awesome
I love it ! 20:58
I think the whole 'dress to impress with high-end handbags' was waning and then not going out due to the virus put the final nail in the coffin.
Really enjoy the videos, this is my first, just happened to stumble upon this video. Job well done.
So good to see the Sun 🌞
I'm excited for your interview with Tommy and Traci. Thanks for the content

1:50 "dirty not cleaned up" thats how he said he likes the merchandise
I miss my trips around the thrift shops over there, so you can imagine how much I enjoy watching your videos. Greetings from Dublin
That parking meter lamp is bad ass!
TYSM!
Seen a very noticable lack on inventory in the thrift stores in my area over the last 6 weeks. Donations are way down everywhere.

The lamp is very cool!
I have said this before, but I love it when Peter says meat on the bone 🍖...
Yes!
i want the matches that say reefer ...LOL
I used to have one of those meter lamps. Think I sold to an antique store in kentucky or West Virginia
Great vid. Love watching this kinda stuff
SHARP (in europe anyway) did some fantastic linear turntables. most fetch good money now on ebay, sold a few. good video Pete
Very cool turntable Pete! 👍☘️
You never buy the kind of stuff I donate, I have to step up my giving game!

Good buy on that bowling bag pete. 👌👍
Pete that green bay bag might be for football helmets

Thanks for sharing this video

I wished we had huge Goodwill stores in the UK I would be visiting them everyday.

@@connoroleary591 Yeah, in essence we do have them - charity shops.
I own a linear turntable, the Sharp VZ-3000. It has the tuner and cassette built in.
Pretty cool pick up. I know I think 90’s wasn’t that long ago either for me and then you think about it and Wow! Guess that was awhile ago.
Green Bay bag is money
Look for the match books with the advertising printed on the matches themselves.
* Fountain Pen has Ink Well.. I don't think it is just a Holder..

7:35 pete u missed that nice frame of the chicago cubs champion year. i bet it was a gem. right behind u
Would of loved that golf ball display, I wish such places existed her in U.K.
Eh? There's 3,300 goodwill stores in US & Canada. In the UK we have 9,000 charity shops.

$15 for the golf ball display and you passed? I would think that's a local pickup winner all day long for $50.
Yeah. I don't understand Pete's thinking on that given his buying selling strategy. (I guess it's something he feels he wouldn't be able to sell, and the $15 price was too high for something he'd buy to use in the shop...?)
I liked the coffee mug.
Very wrong about Coach bags! It’s all about coach Rogue bags. Big $
What I usually do when I get DVD players at the second hand stores I usually buy universal remotes that's what all my remote controls for all my items are is universal
Good idea!
ERTL dump truck, is now COSCO / TOMY........Columbus IN.
At least your Goodwill has reasonable prices...here in Baltimore they charge twice as much as the prices you show...I bet by summer folks will be hocking their stuff like crazy as the evictions start
I wonder if it would be good idea to stock up on Coach bags. Brands always make a comeback.
Coach is still a good seller
Gr8 pick and thrifting Pete.. That vertical turn table is really cool and would look nice in your PC.. Also that golf balls display case would look awesome with vintage Hot Wheels arranged in it.. Nicely done.. Stay safe homie..👍💕🔥⚾😷
Definitely a bowling ball bag. Seen plenty in my day
Ball bags or bowling balls?
$15.00 is too much out of $160.00. $5 dollar for $10 dollar profit. I pick it up.. lol
Hi Pete. The link for your eBay store is not working.
Good day for you.
I cant believe you didnt get rid of those spider eggs and dust before you bought that bag Pete...I would be thinking about them hatching in my truck all the time I was driving along!!! Ew!!!
Love these thrift picking episodes cheers
i like seeing what peter pick up ....
No snow in buffalo ny either
Do you also have trouble sometimes getting those damn price stickers of?

Hi Peter, I believe you have a pen with a stand...and a ink bowl for the fountain pen. dont seperate those things! ;)
Pete! Love the videos sir! Any advice for a newbie that has a channel? Anything would be appreciated! Cheers!

Packers Bag is for disc golf
The green bay bag is for ten pin bowling they run about $ 150.00
That's a nice goodwill my local one is really small and looks like a garbage dump with a cash register at the front.
Amazon Prime truck passes by at the end
I still sell a ton of Coach purses 🤷♂️
I hope you get good money for the Packers bag, I found a few online for 15 ish dollars
Cheers!
Can you talk to the manager at the thrift shop and get 10 or 15 percent off your cart if you purchase over 100 or 200 bucks? Would be worth asking.
Shoulda got the display shelf.
I think that Packers bag is to transport football helmets
What's the most random thing that has come through your shop that you've bought
that Mitsubishi was spotless wtf
The golf ball cabinet matchbox and hot wheel collectors buy them to display cars
B&O - Bang And Olstrom made the best vertical turntables ever mad. Problem was they were super expensive I only know of one still existing
Bang and Olufsen . . .
They're still around but their products are now more reflective of the current technology.
Still SUPER expensive, too !
@@catherinemcmurdo7207 I'II tell you how old I am, my pride and joy was my Revox A700 Reel to Reel
Got caught by the Mrs trying to add to the collection in his man cave 😁
Packers: fans better than the team. Bang and Olefson made a vertical unit also.
