That second to last line I call Geoff going supersonic, as he reaches "oh, that is high for him"... and then he takes a breath and goes nearly a full octave higher... and then, as you are shellshocked... the last line happens. In Top Gun, where they had the "where did he go"? Yeah. That. Here.
I have watched many of your Voiceplay and Geoff's singles and I'm impressed that you use "Freaking" instead of ....... it's really cool that you can show and be a role model without the swearing every other word. I just subscribed today and wanted to thank you for some very impressive reactions. Voiceplay is my favorite and everything Geoff does on his own as well. I think you would get a serious mind blow from all his single stuff. Thanks again. God bless you and yours always.
"The sun caught on her raven hair" J.None reaching out like he can touch her hair. They are ALL amazing in this. I swear this is their best cover yet!!
Awesome reaction John. Geoff has been singing since high school. He wasn't tenor and baritone. When he was in the Beetlejuice Graveyard Review at Universal Studios Orlando as Frankenstein he was baritone. He wanted to be tenor when he was younger but then puberty hit and his voice lowered. And keeps going into the depths. Tomorrow he will be releasing his Halloween video from Nightmare Before Christmas. And a roller coaster of voices. Two villains by Geoff in two days. Great Halloween treats and candy for us all 🍭🍬
@@JohnReavesLivethank you for another priceless reaction to Voice Play. Geoff just got over Covid. It did affect his voice a little at the time but, he has his game on now. I am so glad he had the lead role in this. It's a first & all I can say is wow. Sure Tim Foust has be an amazing high range but his is a doo woop high where Geoff is a rock high. I can't wait till tomorrow when Geoff drops his new solo. He does villain so so good.
@@JohnReavesLive would you please do a reaction video to Voice Plays cover.. Dream On a by Aerosmith ? Cesar does the high note at the end. Voice Play knocks it out of the ball park. Also Voice Plays cover..Carry On My Wayward Son originally by Kansas ? If you haven't already. You don't have a separate listing for Voice Play so I can't find them.
the fun part of singing lower, then switching to a higher voice is surprising people with your sustain or breath capacity. singing low uses up a lot of air because it takes a lot more air passing over your vocal chords to actually make them make sound, so when people with deeper registers sing higher, they can use the breath they would normally have to blow out to make deeper notes... they can let it out for longer or for higher notes over a slightly longer period. Singing is an art, no doubt, but it's also kinda physics.
I have ALWAYS been a Geoff fan for the most part cuz I am an absolute SUCKER for basses. Ofc, I adore the other guys as well, but I have a sweet spot for the basses in groups lol. With that said, this is officially my new favorite rendition of this song bc Geoff just freaking obliterated this. I'm floored, impressed, in awe, destroyed, etc. Eli too man. Jesus. His voice is just.. 😌👌 all of them. Absolute freaks of nature with their talents. I'm just speechless. Truly.
Great reaction John!! This was just so damned good!! When I watched it the first time, I thought it was Geoff that said "Burn It", but no, that was Layne. And It was cool that Tony got to participate as the gaurd. Completely Blown away by how epic this cover was!!
@@melissag1976 I know...I had to replay it multiple times in that area. I knew Layne could do low like Geoff, but it is still impressive when he does it and yes...he sounded just like Geoff.
@@melissag1976 I think that was inhaled, and Layne can really go low in inhaled phonation. I was able to do it myself (but it doesn’t sound nearly as good😂).
I listen to rock and metal since I was kid. I never thought I would be eo in love by an acapella group. I love that you, as a metal singer (and I love u too, by the way. As a singer, as a person and reactor) is just so excited and vibrating and amazed by an acapella group as well. You appreciate everyone in the group and the fact that you enjoy geoff’s voice as much as we do, layne beatboxing, eli’s rock god, cesar’s sweetness and also sassiness and the guest singers… that gives me much joy and life and i love your reactions cause u dont care about stereotypes of what a metal singer is supposed to like or dislike and u really enjoy them and what they do! Thats why I love u more than i did before. People still can be so preconceived about metal and rock and those who are fans of it (i’m a doctor, by the way), and you just show that this is totally bullshit, that u can enjoy everything. Loveeee it!!!
To hear his highest note Bb5 check out VPs Peaches mini (SuperMario movie). In Hellfire here, the guard was Tony Wakim who used to be a VP baritone and is now half owner of Pattycake Productions with Layne holding the other half. Hellfire is phenomenal for every person in this video. I could sit here and do nothing but listen to it for a solid couple of weeks. After that I need to get cat food and probably people food as well.
This is an amazing piece. I was not familiar with it, but have watched it over a hundred times since they released it on Patreon. It is just astounding. Great reaction. Be prepared for Geoff's new one tomorrow. Just sayin'.
Great reaction! This is SOOOO good! And us Voiceplayas have finally gotten what we wanted-Geoff playing a Disney villain! And as for "more from him," Geoff is releasing his latest solo project today-Jack Skellington's lament from The Nightmare Before Christmas!
Funnily enough, you can generally guess that when a song is extremely Geoff-focused (like this and _Oogie_ _Boogie)_ or he stays in the basement for eons (like _Valhalla_ _Calling),_ the arrangement is by Layne! Layne keeps pushing him, for which we can all be grateful. Geoff's solo Halloween song _(Jack's_ _Lament)_ has just come out, and I recommend it to your attention too.
Go to their cover of Enemy Geoff has a solo part where he starts in his low bass range and goes very high most people dont realize that its actually Geoff!
If you want an incredible display of Geoff's range you should check out voice play's cover of the Oogie Boogie song from Nightmare Before Christmas! It's an older cover of theirs when Earl was still a member of voiceplay, but it's still incredible!
Oh John, our common faves; BTS, SKZ, PTX, VoicePlay 🙌🏼🙌🏼 I was having a heavy evening and your channel made my day 😊. On VP, Geoff is 💥… I’ve been asking them to revive “Somebody” by Depeche Mode… the whole song, not shorts… I hope they do 😉
If you really want to hear Geoff go for it on the high end, you should definitely react to their cover of Elvira (video by @Stacy Tee at the Gordon Performance Center). Not only does he go for it, but it’s also just a great LIVE performance by everyone in it. Audio quality isn’t the best, but it still makes you wish you were there in person. Hopefully get to see a reaction to that from you soon!!! 😬
I have always loved this song. It is powerful and beautiful and terrifying. But I absolutely detest Frollo. He is the epitome of evil to me. They actually made him more human than I had previously considered him. VoicePlay did an exceptional job on this. They did such a good job expressing the dichotomy that is Frollo. In the beginning where the more choral parts are, the background segues into sounding in like the church bells are ringing. J, Eli and Cesar cover most of the lines about how much he desires Esmeralda and makes excuses for himself. It gives such a contrast when Geoff becomes the evil that Frollo is. It kind of accentuates the struggle that he’s going through. This gave me the shivers when I watched it on the early Patreon release. Now, with the CGI fire in his eyes I have chills on top of my shivers.
K, so pentatonix with belphegor himself as the lead.... Not my favorite rendition personally, but loving the skill....... And, fuck.....i want that voice to narrate my dreams......

With Geoff going deeper and deeper, you can actually feel the descent into evil! Brilliant!!!!

I really like how each member gets to shine, even in a song that is predominantly for one member.
The Flames in Geoffs' eyes. OMG!

I think my favorite part is where Layne says "Burn It" and just hit it.
Some of the bass in the intro is actually sung by Layne.
There's a reason this song is on repeat and I'm hollering the lyrics, it's that good!
They have a way of making me love songs I don't particularly care for from what I've heard others do.
