Tedd Josiah is a music producer from Kenya. He started as a musician, first briefly with the group Ebony Affair before forming a new group, Hart in 1993. The group was disbanded in 1995 and Josiah joined Sync Sound Studios as a producer. In 1999 he left Sync Sound Studios and formed Audio Vault Studios.
I really liked the Vipi show so much that I was conflicted between watching it and Warehouse Livewire on NTV....Sadly, there weren't many episodes of Vipi, Through the Window... :-) What I loved about Vipi was the chilled-out conversations between Didge and Mongolo and also when they brought artists on the show... The conversations were so chilled you didn't think they were interviews at all... My all-time favorite episode of Vipi was when Kleptomaniax(Collo, Roba, and Nyash) were brought on the show and I got to know so much about them apart from their music... How they had an ambition of producing a KGB Clique Sheng' Dictionary, there was a part Collo did a random freestyle and Nyash just talked about how much he really loved meat so much...The interview/hangout wasn't done in some fancy location just hapo kwa base kwa mtaa(I think it was South C if my memory serves me right)I remember recording that episode on a VHS tape and then I lost that tape... :-( Been searching for it in my folks' house for almost a decade until I moved out sadly...Apart from the Klepto episode, there was also the one of the American-based rapper, Attitude(Mercy Myra's ex-husband) and he was then introducing a new kid on the block, Harry Kimani who is known for his song 'Haiya'!
And now, I discover that Tedd Josiah was just playing with his camcorder and laptop and that was what birthed Vipi! How cool is that? Tedd is extremely bright and gifted... Whatever he touches with his hands literally turns to gold!

Consistency and versatility
So refreshing to hear the backstory of 'Wape Vidonge' and how Didge and Atemi tried to outdo each other on the studio.... Wow!It surely worked!

My mum would see Mongolo on telly and burst out laughing. She would watch Vipi for Mongolo's antics.
2:00 Yoh!!!!!!'Nataka Toa' too? I really loved the smooth ambient pad on the bed.It gave the song the feeling of goosebumps! It filled out the empty space in the song, created an atmosphere and also contributed to the harmonic tension and release in the song!
I really like Tedd Josiah's repertoire of all the amazing songs he's produced!I remember Kajairo's parody version which really cracked me up the one of guys taking too long at the toilet... :-)
Actually, with regards to fusing hip hop and Dancehall, Mr. Googz & Vinnie Banton did the same thing as Necessary Noise. I remember seeing Mr. Googz interview on Mambo Mseto talking about the same thing, wondering if Lucas of Ogopa would accept the idea, and it eventually worked
I remember the episode where Mongolo dared people to drink urine from a bottle for a 1000 bob yet it was apple juice... :-)

Necessary Noize-The noise that was necessary for Wyre,Nazizi and Bamzigi to coexist.I like the swing to that name!That was an interesting way to come up with a name for the group!I like that!
I always thought it was a statement to the older generations: That what the youth were doing was necessary, even though it might have sounded like noise. But I see now -- this makes sense.
