Agree. They are really great builds. Way over the top with the decals. I like the wood engraving, don’t even mind a couple decals outside but the glove box? Wouldn’t deter me from buying one though

They made suburbans that year that had a fiberglass topper which is the same as a g20 van. I found one in new mexico but they are rare. They even had skylights

I have an '88 GMC suburban 4X4 with 350ci, 4 speed manual, spring over and locked rear. I Dyna matted the interior which helped quiet it down and working on using cedar strips for headliner. The "Big Red Nasty" is coming along nicely. Thank you for the inspiration to tackle the project.

Love it, all of it. I’m a finish carpenter and would love to outfit a vehicle with storage. I’ve built out some trailers for myself and other tradesmen. I’ve made a few different center consoles for my standard cab second gen Ram with behind of seat storage. I work in New England so I work on a lot of really old houses so using a scribe is a way of life. Love the ceiling as well. What your doing looks like fun!

I had a 1991 (final year of the squarebody) that was almost exactly the same as yours. Former government vehicle. Made a lot of memories in it but got rid of it when it became too unreliable and needed too much work, not enough time or money. I still regret selling it. If I could go back in time I'd love to do what you did with yours with the bed and cabinets and take it on adventures.

Nice! I love old Squares. My dad still has his 1979 GMC pick up that he bought off the showroom floor in July 1979. I currently have a 1999 K2500 Chevy Suburban with the 454 that is currently sitting at only 113,000 miles. Love that old truck. Would love to build something like this with it, but it would have to be easily removable, as I still need to truck for things like hauling kids all over the country. I use it to pull our homebuilt teardrop trailer a good bit, as well.

Nice! Just got an '87 K20 from Texas out here on Kauai and been thinking about how to convert it into a beach camper. Came with a lift and good tires and the engine is bone stock, which is perfect since I don't have to go over it all fixing mistakes. I'm a mechanic though and not a carpenter, so my ideas for the interior were, well... stupid. Now that I've seen how nice, clean and simple you're build is, I'm following your example here. Did you start with planning to take out the back seat? I'd like to keep the 60/40 split bench in but maybe take out the /40 side and have a standing mini fridge there. I'm not too worried about power as I have 3 batteries and a couple generators I can play with. Just wondering if the few inches the backrest takes up hinders anything.

We have a 1994 k1500 350. I've been thinking about building it out as an overlanding Towed/ Dinghy for our skoolie adventures. Our bus is a rear engine monster 8.3 turbo. The k1500 still runs well, but the frame is rustier than I'd prefer. Do you know where to get a good solid frame to do a full restoration? We're in Western PA. I'd honestly rather not do that much welding... Your design is a sweet one for overlanding. Very nice!

Is this vehicle still available? As of June 2020? Just what I want. At well past my three-score and ten, I want turn-key availability. My only critique is, I have an idea for more solar power; 2 residential-sized roof panels mounted either on the vehicle's roof or removable from inside. The panels are hinged in the middle. able to be single sided toward the sun and rotate to keep the faces to the sun, as the sun crosses the sky. I want to be able to access Wi-Fi no matter where I am. I want a refrigerator to freeze ice and keep salad vegetables preserved for a week. I'm also dubious about holes in the roof.
