So cool, how you picked two very similar varieties, and did this comparison, Rylee! Perfect for the tomato geeks of the world :-) well done! And congrats on 400 subscribers!!!
I’ve grown both in the same season. SunGold are noticeably darker and sweeter. Sun Sugar never got as orange and never tasted as sweet no matter how long they ripened. In the Midwest, I will always grow Sun Gold over Sun Sugar, but in other climates there may be advantages to Sun Sugar (apparently they are more resistant to splitting).
@@timjohnson3913 interesting. I found the opposite with sun gold verses sun sugars, but I’m in northwest (Vancouver Canada). Just shows how different regions gives us different result.
I got confused. The left plate was referred to as sun sugar and sun gold, and the same goes to the right plate. For example 2:15 - 3:04 (the tomato is called sun sugar) . 3:25 now the right plate is called sun sugar. 4:48 now the right one is sun gold again . I think the left one is sun gold and the right is sun sugar. I hope I am right.
I grew Sunsugar last year and really enjoyed them. Im growing Sungold this year and im excited to harvest! I wish i had thought to grow both of them at the same time. Maybe next year!
I couldn't find sun gold in my area last year so I bought sun sugar. I much prefer sun gold and am not going to do sun sugar again. (And if you are going red, sweet million is even better than sweet 100!)
Well that was interesting! Just about the time I am going to order sun sugar...hmmmm. I'm in ATL and think Sun Sugar will hold up more..NEW tomato grower..it will be my first.Maybe I'll do one each.
I have both this year and wasn't paying attention to labeling because i thought one was supposed to be a fun sized tomato, and one a cherry. Oops! This review might help me tell them apart. Kudos to chaos gardening! 😆
I understand some people may not appreciate my showcase voice, and I apologize if you don't like it, but I have more fun and enjoy making the videos doing it

Thanks Kevin, there's much much more tomato review videos for this year, so keep an eye out!
@@RyleesGAI will!
Your sun sugar fruit isn’t ripened. It should be considerably oranger than your pick. IMO
Possibly, however I did harvest more Sunsugar later in the season and left them to ripen longer, and the taste was the same

Was thinking about growing both next year. Great video.
My sweet 100's always crack so maybe I will go with the Sunsugar even though I like sweet tomatoes. :(
Yeah, Sunsugar is still sweet, so you won't be too disappointed!
@@shanec8812SunSugar is VERY sweet. It’s just hard to improve the PERFECTION of the taste of SunGold.
@@amy3458 Thank you so much!

You are correct, I apologize cause I got mixed up with how similar the names are. Left is Sungold and Right is Sunsugar
Thank you so much for clarifying!@@RyleesGA
So which was sweeter? GOLD OR SUGAR?
@@marciasharpe3983Sungold is the sweeter variety
My Sungold just died and I replaced it with Sun Sugar. Good comparison. Pink Tiger is my favorite little tomato though. Glad I have a few of those!
Thank you. I moved states and couldn't find my beloved sun golds. Bought a super sweet 100. Now I know what to expect - not sun gold.

It's definitely a good idea to try both, you'll be able to find out your favorite that way!
Sun sugar will give you volunteers EVERY YEAR grow it once and it'll grow back every year
😂/💯
Chief, you need a sharper knife :D
Gotta get myself a knife just for tomatoes lol

Do you prune off early tomato flowers?
I don't but I've noticed early tomatoes flowers usually just fall off on their own, better off leaving them alone
great comparison!
I like sun sugar the best. Sungold also good. I like sweet millions over sweet 100 as well.
Sungold for the win!
Sungold has a bit of a tangy flavor and more bite, very similar overall but thats the difference
SunGold wins every time. ❤️
I prefer Sunsugar
Sunsugar is much better
So close to 400!
