It’s been a while since I’ve seen a good 2-story frame (a balloon frame in the US). Makes a lot of sense with the hempcrete. Thanks for documenting and sharing!
You could but it would have to be painted and would cost a lot more than a timber frame. We recently did a historical building that was strapped together with painted steel but that was just reinforcement on the old stone and bricks
epic ! Looking at doing a very similar style owner build in aus so great to see your approach. Its a very interesting framing method almost like a traditional timber frame. What made you choose that vs a standard stick frame ?
Hi, we've had a few mentions of a stick build and to be honest aren't quite sure what the difference is. This is the first full timber build Matt has done and they aren't very common in the UK. The people with hemp experience we've chatted to, do suggest a box on a box style frame, so build ground floor as a box first, then another box on top of that but the structural engineer insisted on this style. Looking back, we think this way was better and faster, less cuts and possibly less timber used. Whereabouts in Aus are you looking at building? I lived there for almost 10 years, between Perth and Sydney.
you missed the channel name my dude . . . talk about over engineered expensive resource drain holy chirst are you building to withstand world war? is this the largest hbot? legit how much was the total for that frame up? i bet you could of built half a dozen stick houses for what you have in that all ready hahaha . . . and once again, carbon isn't bad you should really uncork your head . . . people are interested in the hemp application not wastefulness.
We already replied to your previous comment, structural engineer requirements! Maybe we just build and have better standards here. As for cost, less than brick built, and this has been a zero waste site apart from the soil removed, everything from the demolition was recycled. You can believe what you like from your 4chan /r/conspiracy browsing just don't come here spouting nonsense. Rough calculations are in, this is at least 10ton of co2 negative, brick would be 20 ton positive at this stage. Take your own advice from your bio "Be nice, play fair, have fun ... don't be a dick!" Again, cheers for another view 🍻 they all count!

You're welcome. Thanks for watching 🍻
Your mates who produced that music are awesome. 👍
Ha, yes, they are, we'll pass on the comment, cheers 🍻
Awesome content, just binge watched all the videos and loved seeing all the processes!
😁 Brilliant, thanks for watching.
Come Ibiza and let’s build a Hemp GeoDome 😅💯💪🏽
Haha that sounds nice. We've actually recently been having conversations around hemp domes. Have you made one yet?
Can we do hempcrete on a steel frame?

Great video, who designed the frame?
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. The frame was designed by the architects structural engineer. rm-dms.co.uk/
Fantastic! What was the cost of the timber frame?
