The true poetry and inspiration in Tom's lyrics sometimes gets swallowed up by the "experimental vibe" he creates. This song is one of those examples. Recorded into a megaphone for the album and even greater distorted in his live versions. However, it is a joy to hear the clear diction of your vocal as the emotion and prose is allowed to resonate to the listener. Tim's guitar tone created the bed for your beautiful vocal and we the listener get to feel the words instead of the vibe. Once again you are truly connected to Tom's storytelling in a way that no one ever has. After 1975, no one should ever cover a Waits song as he moved into the position of "one of a kind" status.
