I click on these videos preparing to be like "HAH what a simpleton cannot solve these puzzles I did at 5 (tips fedora and shifts cargo pants and adjusts green triforce t-shirt)" meanwhile I would give the n64 controller to my big brother after raging and crying for an hour straight
That's what my mom did when she'd get stuck in a game, but I was the one who got handed the controller. I refused to play for her, and instead backseat gamed her until she solved her own problem. My "teaching" usually involved profanity after a while, though. She's a slow learner.

The Goron thing always bothered me because the game itself says that it's not that they can't eat other rocks, they've become "such gourmands" that they won't eat anything else. Penny comes to the correct conclusion herself when she goes "SO YOU'RE JUST PICKY EATERS??" They CAN eat ANY rock.
Now I think there's a sort of way to meet in the middle here? I think the better comparison is like, someone who normally eats very nutritious and healthy food switching to exclusively eating McDonald's. They're not gonna like it and their system is gonna be like "WHAT IS THIS GARBAGE YOU'RE PUTTING IN ME." I wish the game said something like "Oh our diets are so structured around the Dodongo Cavern rocks our bodies can't sustain themselves on other rocks" instead of "We're just picky"
But also it's a cartoon game so I guess maybe the sillier option might be the more fitting one
I just thought they were scared of King Dodongo so they trapped it in an unfortunate spot.

in this case the silly option is also the option that sounds more like it's out of a fairy tale collection. (and the zelda series rhymes like variations on a fairy tale.) it's a fun contrast: miners with the refinement of the princess on the pea. if zelda were less of a fairy tale i would agree that nutrition would make for better world building, but in context i think i don't.

This game is a lot more obtuse than I remember it being! Replaying it I always just have a checklist of things I already know to do, which is a really weird and unfun way to experience it in hindsight.
And re: the game's obtuse dead ends - I think I do recall somewhat now relying a bunch on the Zelda Dungeon wiki playing it as a kid lmaoo. I hope people are patient with your playthrough and let you really soak it in!
