I've watched TONS of watercolor tutorials to learn how to use them but I've never understood how they do it. BUT the way you explain this REALLY helps. Thanks 😊
Well this was just freakin' wonderful! 2 Things: 1. This video would be a great addition to your Drills playlist 2. Mind is blown 🤯 by the significance of washing out the brush between blending strokes. No wonder my gradients look so heavy-handed and overworked. I've been skipping this step all along. Thank you so much for making this video. Much appreciated.
I truly love you Emma! You are more beautiful inside than out! Some people can paint. Not all can teach..you are both! You have helped me so much! Thank you
Great video, getting the right amount of water and pigment is still tricky I find, but getting there ;) Glad you added too much water so you could show us how to fix it! :) Thanks for these very useful tips and drills!
Great tips, I also love adding my shadows and other colors while everything is wet. The colors just blend out nicely then. I also find it helpful to have two brushes on the go, one for placing the color down and a damp one for blending :)
Hey Emma have been following your channel for at a couple of years now. I love to see you progress and you've really grown so much. Thank you for your time and all the effort that goes into producing your videos!! 💞🖼🎨
This is most helpful, Emma. I have been searching for how to for darkening areas of dry watercolour for sometime now without success. This totally answers my questions of how to avoid blooms. Thank you.
Emma, thanks to you I purchased some Princeton Snap brushes. I have other more expensive ones but I keep going back to the Snaps. I LOVE them, even better than the Princeton Heritage! Thanks for the tip. Love your videos!
My advice: unless you have high quality brushes and papers and watercolors ( very expensive, ofcourse), you may have Da Vinci' s talent and still your paintings would look like s...t! Trust me! I know!
Thank you só much! This was just what I needed. Only thing: I should have seen this earlier today; this afternoon I threw something away, I ruined it because I didn't know what I was doing... 🥴
How do you stop your paper from warping? I have 300gsm paper but it always warps when I paint and I try to limit the amount of water I'm using but for washes and the like, it's really difficult.
This is a great tutorial thanks for doing it. I wonder how to do sunset/rise skies where there’s blue going into orange or yellow. Try as I might I always end up w green in my skies….. Help.
Hi Emma, thank you so much. That was a lot of help. I usually draw with graphite and in the way past I had done some acrylic but just wasn’t too fond of painting. I have been watching your videos, so I thought I would try my hand at watercolor. I am finding it to be a challenge lol. I of course tried my first picture on something hard 🙄. I painted my dachshund of 18 yrs that has passed on 😢, but I had a struggle with blending. One thing, I used Arches hot press which I’ve found out was a wrong choice so my next dog, my Chihuahua of 17 yrs. which has passed also, I have bought cold press and I’m hoping with that, and this wonderful lesson, will help. So I said all of that to say, THANK YOU for taking the time to share your talent with us all and if you ever feel down and out, just keep going cause I’ll tell you, you are a blessing to us out here that watch you and a lot of us, you never hear from are being blessed by you, you just never know how many people you are touching. You are appreciated!
Omg. The "it might not be you, it might be your paper" is SO TRUE. I thought I sucked at watercolor but bought a little arches pad and my hummingbird looked good! I wasn't even using high quality paint. (Artify pans) Thank you!
Thank you so much! You are really a Great teacher. Your instructions are clear, precise and easy to follow. You are so encouraging, exactly what beginner watercolor students need. Thank you ❤
You're a proper tutor.. now I get it. Thanks

I need to practice this. I’ve been trying to paint my lovebirds but when the red and green meets on their body, it turns brown 😭 or it’s a harsh line.
I truly love your work and your tutorials! Thank you for sharing😊

This is great! Can you do a tutorial on misty trees?
