Pretty much agree, except Gus deserves at least a B tier for the cut scene with Linus. Gus is one the only person in Pelican Town I've ever seen be kind to Linus.

Sam should at least be B tier. Hes not only the teen who likes skateboarding and concerts, hes also the one who took care of his brother when their father wasnt there, is nice to you from the very beginning and always supportive. Some characters will give you snarky comments for no reason even after you marry them, he would never. Justice for my boy sam!
This has genuinely made me rethink my opinions on him and like him more, shit man you right!
YES! Despite seeming immature Sam has an amazing sense of responsibility. He finds work at Joja while his dad is in the military to support his brother and mother and keeps his job once his dad’s back in year 2. Even after Joja closes down he starts working at the museum, while Shane on the other hand just stops working all together. Even after marrying the farmer Sam has this whole arc about discovering what he really wants to do with his life and ends up writing children’s songs for a living. It’s so sweet and I really appreciate how he doesn’t complain about his responsibilities and still has time for his friends, family and hobbies. He’s one of the biggest green flags in the valley.

he's the sweetest before, too! he is one of 2 bachelors that regularly asks about how you're feeling, and seems interested to know the answer. harvey is the other one who asks, but his is more health-based. elliott likes to ask after your emotions 🥺

Totally agree! He is nice to you from the start, a bit awkward but never rude. And after you romance him he is just the sweetest.
Alex is the best partner AND I WILL DIE ON THIS HILL.
Reasons: Alex is such a sweetie once you get past his outer bro shell. He takes such good care of his grandparents and his orphan backstory gives you a whole new perspective of him. Also Alex is the only one who is actually excited to be a farmer with you! Everyone else has dreams they want to follow and moving to the farm with you makes some of them give up on their dreams. Meanwhile you get to help Alex find his true dream (which is to raise a family and be the dad he didn’t have 😭). Also if you get a divorce most of the characters have kind of a meh reaction while Alex is straight up devastated. 😢
Fun fact about Alex is even though you can date him as a girl, if you’re a boy you get some more dialogue and content about realizing he’s into guys. For example, if you go into the mens locker room at the pool and look at his locker you’ll see he has lots of pictures of buff guys in there…
i will genuinely never understand how haley always gets ranked so highly while shane gets ranked so low. afaik haley never once apologizes or acknowledges how she was rude/childish, just "gets nicer". completely ignoring her insulting ur looks, saying u smell bad, etc in early game. not to mention why is she even so awful in the first place? at least shane has some context for it lol
there is a context since she raised rich and spoiled, she simply didn't know any better. but then she realises she can find happiness by living a simple life, plays with animals and actually enjoys being on the farm and helping. it's better and more forgivable than being straight up alcoholic who randomly is unconscious in the woods, wears torn clothes and expects everyone to feel sorry for him? moreover, he doesn't even stop being an alcoholic and self-destructive after the marriage lol ;'j
@@imyourantinomy7195 yea this is exactly the view i don't understand lol but i guess if you hate people with the disease of addiction you just don't like his character. i just think it's weird to vilify shane's arc so hard while loving a character like haley. bottom line if they were real, shane would make me say "wow what a jerk. oh well" and haley would get punched in the face for throwing insults all the time lol.
@@fruitscentedThe thing is Haley worked on herself and stopped being vain while Shane has a filthy room and still drinks alcohol. His story arc didn't change anything, he is not taking the steps towards recovery.
again missing and proving my point at the same time. and his story arc changed him like. fundamentally as a character actually, whether or not his room is still messy (??) or he drinks occasionally. hating shane while loving haley makes no sense unless you hate addicts imo. can't convert a shane hater it seems u_u

I liked Shane before, I married him at one playthrough but after that heart event give him alcohol and it's like the event never happened.
It's not about his addiction it's about him going back on his promise of doing better. If it isn't clear I don't like people who go back on their word.
How about you, have you given Haley a chance?

One of the reasons I love Haley is her room, Shane's room is a mess so yeah.
You really shouldn't say that hating Shane is equivalent to hating people who suffer from an addiction, that's unfair and it dismisses the other reasons to hate Shane

@@Br0kenMask she goes from bratty to one of the sweetest, happiest wives you could possibly have. Her life genuinely improves because of the farmer, even if they don't marry. She's a great character with a great arc

Haley is nothing special. except for being bad early on. That doesn't warrant an S rank imo.
@@Br0kenMask alrighty, I'm gonna go a little more in depth. Part of Haley's attitude comes from being sheltered. She cares about superficial and 'basic' things, hence some of her rude comments towards the farmer in the beginning. As she gets to know the farmer, she's exposed to a new side of life that she's never thought of before.
Once her view point is opened, she comes to realize that there's other, more grounded things to care about, and she finds herself caring more and more. Her cow scene with the farmer is absolutely adorable. She falls in the mud and rather than freak out like she would have before, she giggles and says that was so fun.
She grows to love cleaning, something she detested before.
Unlike some of the other spouses, she didn't have dreams or goals that faded away after marriage, her being a stay at home wife and mom with the farmer is truly her dream life.
Yes the other spouses are loving, but with Haley's arc and development, her love feels the most natural and genuine.
I like character development, I like when one's partner helps them grow, that's more reminiscent of a real relationship. It's alright if you still don't agree, but yeah, Haley is absolutely a top tier character.

It's actually S-tier for Sebastian but I'll let it slide since the tier board and the velcro portraits are amazingly crafted.
also, I'd love to see a part 2 with all the other characters from ginger island and the desert included as well!

cannot believe jodi (a military spouse fighting to keep her household together while her husband is a literal prisoner of war) is in the same tier as pierre (a horrid trash-man-thing that TAKES CREDIT FOR YOUR HARD-GROWN PRODUCE) ,,,, jail for pj for ten thousand years
seeing my husband being Immediately put in C tier made me realize this was gonna be an interesting video LOL. I could rant about Sam for a while but my biggest pieces of Sam Propaganda are 1. he basically raised Vincent after Kent went off to war! Jodi never wanted to settle down and has always wanted to escape her life so I like to think Sam didn't have the best childhood (not abusive by any means, just a little emotionally neglectful) so he had to step up and take on a lot of responsibilities when Kent left. he's the one with a job, he watches and cares for Vince, and in some of his heart events (2 and 10, I think) it shows that Jodi will never see him as anything but an irresponsible teenager -- getting mad at him for breaking an egg, and _barging into the room of her adult son because he was making suspicious noises._ & 2. he's super sweet! he's not the brightest, but he's earnest! he loves his family and loves his friends and loves you as his spouse!! I truly believe that he'd burn the world for the farmer if they asked
anyway I have been ride or die for Sam since 2016 and that is not changing any time soon :) love that funky rocker boy

Love my husband, Shane. But when he asks for his ashes to be used to fertilize the crops, I get a little bummed out. Especially when he says it in front of our kids. Gotta love him though, he fixes the fences and waters the dog bowl. Couldn't ask for more
I feel like a lot of character intricacies and development is discounted, but I respect your individual experience with the game
I just started a new run of this game last week after dropping it for a year and I adore this little town and all its people and it's nice to see them getting some love.
I'm torn between Leah and Haley this run and I'm about to download the poly mod just to have both... and then the rest of town too!

You have a right to your opinion, but Alex in E tier? Yeah, he’s a jock, but he is also really sweet and caring for the town dog and his grandparents despite not having a very positive upbringing. And he makes a wonderful husband!

I was actually gonna romance clunt in my first playthrough but I very quickly realised he's very much E tier.

Gus and Linus are absolute S tier. Gus has the cut scene where he catches Linus going through trash and brings him in to feed him and he lets patrons run up unpaid tabs.
