Dogs are amazing. My dogs have helped me thru some really hard times. I had an american bulldog named Piper. Unfortunately she was stolen from me last september. I am devestated. I will not stop looking for her.
I've had the pleasure of meeting Sarge the therapy dog at VA in Norman. He is very good at his job and the veterans love him. What a wonderful program at Lexington and thank you everyone that made this possible.
My uncle was in the program had a little poodle bichon mix named cotton, it was always funny to me this big masculine mans man with this little poofy white puppy. My grandma got him after the training was done and he died a year ago. He was an awesome dog and it was also like having a piece of my Uncle back home with us. He is on a life without charge for drug charges. One of my Uncle’s friends painted a picture of him and sent it to my grandma after he had passed.
I want this program to spread all over this country and the world. There are nothing but benefits for all involved. A simple way to make lives better and even the bean counters have to agree. God bless all of you.
I feel bad for the inmate😮s, i know quite well how it feels to love a dog and lose them. But i think the inmates should be quite proud of themselves. 😊
Love these dog therapy videos. Great for the inmates to give them responsibility and help others, loving dogs. It's a win- win situation. Yeah Star and Marvin. The tears are filling my eyes. And Mr Miller and Sarge. It's so sad when the inmates have to give away their dogs but other people need them too. SECOND CHANCE IS A FANTASTIC PROGRAM. With the dogs, inmate handlers, Dr Otto. Thank you Dr Otto for your.love of dogs and rehab with the inmates, and dogs. Sunshine is gorgeous
Wonderful, wonderful program! Congratulations to the inmates for their hard work with the dogs, and to the prison admins for implementing this program! Recidivism decreases from 50% to 13% with programs like this! All prisons need this program.
When they brought Sarge to the nursing home and he ran up to the guy in the chair and started giving him kisses it made me cry ❤❤ he’s going to bring so much joy to so many people!!!
That vet should run for office. I wish more good people who have real impact in society were more interested in government. I can see why not but this is the kind of program that proves a person has the intelligence, patience and compassion to build something that works and has a positive impact on society.
Amazing and inspiring. Thank you Dr. Otto for taking the time to talk to me and then passing on information about this film. It is a wonderful demonstration of what can be achieved when the veterinary community gives back like you are doing. You have shown me what is possible and for that I am grateful. Thank you! Carrie
Dogs are one of Gods best blessings.......I'm happy if any of these dogs came from an abused background that they have a new purpose in life and is able to receive endless love and kisses
This is a great video highlighting an outstanding program that I had no idea was even in operation in Oklahoma. I am so proud my state has made a success of it for 22 yrs, but disappointed that it hasn't gone out to find outside funding to get this program in more facilities where it is so very needed. Surely there is a way to put together donations & publicity to get this going. What do we need to do!?!
@@steveanthony8653 It’s a pleasure to meet you also. I’m originally from Manassas, Virginia, lived in Florida for many years but I have only been in San Diego,California for about three years. Is Texas your home state ? I must imagine that it gets very hot there

I understand your concern. A profound benefit of the program is that the recidivism rate is so much lower than without it. So it helps to reduce the crime circle.
That why i say they should send all the animal abuses to these guys and these places that traines the dogs 🐕 can train all the animal abuses but the judges wont send the abuses there
So many prisons need to change their mentality, become more humane and get with programs like this🙏🏽🐾❤️

Dr. Otto is an absolute gem. Thank you for doing this. I am so glad the program is back up & running again. ❤️
Nice program! I believe it makes inmates leave prison better people than they were when they entered.
I love the problem! Kudos to the program

Being locked in a cell isn’t rehabilitation,, this is positive and calming,,so I think it’s a very clever idea...

It’s a shame states can’t seem to justify funding such incredible programs like this. It couldn’t possibly cost that much.
