Man... I love nirvana and a lot of music from the 90’s, But It pisses me off how much music from like 89-91 got forgotten because music all of a sudden had such a huge shift in sound. These guys were great man.
PWEI was my life from "This is This!" until "Dos Dedos Mis Amigos" (and beyond). I bought every thing I could, originals, remixes and live albums as albums, tapes, and CD's (and T-shirts god damn their T-shirts were amazing) many many times over, having had them stolen, more than once, and giving them away to convert as many people as I could. "Inject Me" was my anthem which oddly helped me through depression as a youth. To say this was my favorite band growing up would be the biggest of understatements.
JRedMage this was my youth too. Pwei and Carter. Both ahead of their times and both bands very underrated. Saw the poppies in concert last week in London and they were great
They had the best cover art and clothing. I remember when I was about 12 I was wearing a poppies beanie and 93 tour T-shirt and baggy jeans and my Auntie asked me "oooh you like 'Smiffy' as well do you?" And my cousin who was a bit of a mug said "ITS NOT SMIFFY, ITS _SPLIFFY!_ and I just nodded my head and thought- "it's actually Pop Will Eat Itself'
This is like THE archetypal early-90's UK DIY pop song ! Sounds like SEAL with a house beat and rapped vocals. ABSOLUTELY CLASSIC ! (If a little DIY to a self-parodied degree !)

I just think that it's usually the mainstream and pop that ruins things including artists. They end up taking themselves to seriously and also become corrupted by it all. There's a lot wrong with that. It's almost impossible to stay POPULAR and true to yourself. I think that there's quite a lot wrong with that. It's kinda sad the way that POP or being popular does that to people I think. . @@serenechaosuk4682
Damn! This was one of the 45's that would get slapped on the turntable with the windows open as we loaded up air cooled VW's and old motorbikes to go off and get wrecked in a field somewhere. Sometimes I do forget how good it felt to have all that energy :-)
GymnastGirl couldn't agree more! Funny, I'm a former gymnast, too. I still coach 1 day a week. At 51, I just do handstands and high bar. I was tumbling up until a few years ago, but I need a new hip. I'll still do some trampoline once in a while. Last round-off I did crippled me for a week. Doc says I will be able to tumble again once I get it fixed, so I really should. Getting old sucks!

I purchased this cassette back in 1990. I played it all the time in my Honda's pimped out Dolby surround sound system. This album, Cure for Sanity, was very interesting. Lot's of sampling going on in many of the songs, but I thought it was fantastic. There were some amazing experimental bands in the late 80s and early 90s. I wish the industry would have supported them more instead of everyone jumping on the grunge bandwagon.
I wish the public supported them more. TBH I don't get the grunge bandwagon thing, how many grunge tunes were in the charts each week? Not that many tbh. Rave, House, Electronic and Rap music were big too - all of which PWEI had in their sound - something the Prodigy picked up on.
Grebo (or grebo rock) was a short-lived subgenre of alternative rock that incorporated influences from punk rock, electronic dance music, hip hop and psychedelia. The scene occupied the period in the late 1980s and early 1990s in the United Kingdom before the popularisation of Britpop and grunge. The genre and its attributes were largely absorbed into industrial rock, which would emerge after the sub-genre's demise in the late 1980s, which then led to the development of industrial metal in the 1990s. The word grebo was originally used as a slang term for bikers and rock music fans with long hair. The word was re-fashioned by the group Pop Will Eat Itself that represented a brand of United Kingdom subculture of the late 1980s and early 1990s, largely based in the English Midlands. The scene particularly centred in Birmingham. Influential bands in the scene were Pop Will Eat Itself, the Wonder Stuff, Ned's Atomic Dustbin, along with London band Carter USM and Leicester bands Crazyhead, the Bomb Party, the Hunters Club, Scum Pups and Gaye Bykers on Acid. The term has also been used to describe Jesus Jones, who enjoyed success in both the United Kingdom and the United States. Although short-lived, the movement was a success and influenced several later bands. To a certain extent it was a music press invention, much like positive punk, a scene and style named by British indie magazines NME and the Melody Maker.
