I picked up a Cleveland Hywood #3 and am amazed how far I hit that at 71. I combine it with Taylor Made Tour Response or Titleist True Feel balls! Driving irons look enticing! Thanks James
I find it funny that when I started 3-pw was a standard set of irons you spent your money on. Now you spend massive money on 5 or 6-W and then spend more money to add the clubs that don’t come with the modern sets of irons.
The longer irons would end up as wall supports. I like to with the component companies or DTC companies and get exactly what you want instead of being forced to buy clubs you don't need.
@M82RKY Yep...I'm a pretty good ball striker. I don't keep a handicap because it's always casual, but I'm almost always sub 80. I've gone with 7 and 9 wood. I'm thinking of even going with an 11 wood. 7-wedges
Thanks James. I play off 7 and have Ping G15 3 and 4 driving irons in the bag. I think this club is similar to the G15. They give consistent distance and a soft steep descent. Although not very 'sexy' I've not found anything to better them and I can have 4 wedges in the bag. Probably they need to market 5,6,7 rescues in this range as a lot of people are scared of 3 and 4 lofts. Thanks for everything you've produced this year you have a great, easy going, informative, popular and fun channel.
James I have to say you are my favourite you tube golf dude best content and best honest reviews really honest about golf being overpriced thanks for your good work
Rarely agree with James as every club is the best each day, but on this occasion i think he is spot on. I purchased my nephew his first set of clubs, so went for Wilson Dynapower forged, with a MacGregor driving iron, he was made up and so proud. Both companies delivered great value in 2024, and the quality was high end from two classic brands that are enjoying a rebirth. It will be interesting to see if both continue their growth, i really hope so.
Another brilliant video James. Just a quick one off topic for this video but I’m looking to buy a range finder thinking mileseey on your recommendation pfs2 is looking like the one I think. Where’s the best place to order from please if you wouldn’t mind. Thanks so much and have a wonderful Christmas you and all the family, friends and even Bobby.
I bought this on your recommendation and its a great club. Yes the face will mark up but its an amazing value. It does everything you need in a driving iron and is mega forgiving. I love hitting it on the fairway if i have the 3 Iron version and will hit it off fairway or rough around 225ish out.
Not like they used to be, 1980s Jack Nicklaus Muirfield 2 iron used to go 200 yards for me, now i need a 3 hybrid, which probably has less loft and a lot more behind the ball...
@@Golfing-AddiCt They were made by MacGregor. The model was Muirfield and they had an edition of them with Jack Nicklaus' signature stamped into the back, so, not all Muirfield irons were the signature edition. They're nice feeling blades.
It's strange....years ago, I couldn't care less about a bold red and black club like that. Now, a minimalistic, clean look is what I seem to seriously gravitate too.
Bought one for £64 in the Summer and it was a replacement for my Adams Idea hybrid and it's a fantastic club for the price. Using it as my 200yd club and even though it's a regular shaft it works.

I play off 8 and have never had a 3-5 iron in the bag, that’s what hybrids replace.

I bought one based on your review as I can’t hit hybrids . Got the 3i and struggled til I put a tensei stiff shaft in and it’s so good now
It doesn’t look like it comes in left hand which is a shame because I would put one in the bag, quality video again James
Thanks James.

They could raise the price $20 add stiff flex shaft and probably triple their sales.

Can you change the shaft in the mcgregor like you did with the takomo??
I still use v-foil mac gregor 1025mb's , had a driving iron and hated it tho :D
I still love mac gregor vintage gear tho :D

Another great review James. I would love to see you review the Macgregor Macspeed players distance irons. God Bless you and your family.
Well done James 👏 😊

I'm old enough to remember the MacGregor VIP irons😮
The image on screen highlighted the 18 degree option. Was that what you used in the demonstration?

I have a set of those JN Muirfield irons, if you're feeling nostalgic.
Its a different company that purchased the brand and logo
That's incredible that a set of clubs were called "Jack Nicklaus Muirfield", who were they made by, or were they his own company??
@@Pud56with a little bit of research I found that MacGregor bought the company and Jack Nicklaus branding.

The red gives me a cheap plastic feel. Everyone that reviews this club loves it. At $50 that’s game changing price. Saving over $100 is huge.

Send one this way
Plz
I don't see this exact one on the site anymore?
Love me a good driving iron. Anvil on a stick.
looks like your front foot is slipping in your backswing
Doesn’t come in left handed from what I can see.

£70 now straight from Macgregor
They used to make lefties.
