I have only recently learned about Orthodox Christianity, and it is a living miracle. I only recently accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, though I haven't been baptized, and have not been to Church. I am reading the Orthodox Study Bible, and have been learning about the Saints, and listening to the hymns. I have also been reciting the Jesus Prayer, and can already feel its power. I humbly ask for your prayers, to help me on this journey with our Lord, Jesus Christ.
    Thank you, Amen.
    Raphael 🙏

AFTER 10YEARS YOU CAN SEE THE LIGHT OF GOD S GLORY AS ST.GREGORY PALAMAS TEACH BECAUSE THIS PRAYER OF JESUS HAS THE DIVINE ENERGY.

I am not Orthodox Christian, but I have tremendous reverence and respect for your faith and its traditions. This prayer contains the essence of Christianity --faith, mercy, hope, and love. This prayer has been a gift to me. May God Bless you all.

Your explanation of how the Jesus prayer illuminates is spot on. It was through the Jesus prayer that I had a strong epiphany that I am nothing without God. Sure, intellectually I knew I was nothing without God, but I didn't understand what that meant. I didn't FEEL it until after praying the Jesus prayer.
Edit: feeling like you're nothing might sound bad to some people, but it's a true fact, and it only encouraged me to say the prayer more. I saw prayer as a requirement, because otherwise I am stuck in my nothingness. (Am I describing the process of purification that Fr. Peter is talking about? I've never heard it put into words before)

Thank you for your timely message, regarding the Jesus Prayer, AND, being able to do nothing without Him, Richard! [I included my gratitude for your comment in my general comment here.]

I have been praying The Jesus Prayer for over a year now, leaning more & more toward Orthodoxy recently. The other morning I heard Jesus tell me, with kind amusement ' I WILL have mercy on you'.

Thanks for this. The prayer has helped me immensely. As someone interested in orthodoxy, coming from an atheist background, knowing nothing but Protestantism and not knowing how to pray, I really wanted to avoid mistakes in prayer. So I stuck to this. It worked.

Fr. Amilianos - "Every time we say Lord Jesus Christ have mercy on "me", we are blessing the entire cosmos since we are all connected." 💓
(There's a youtube of him talking about it.)
A person asked a Father to pray for him and he said, "But I already am. I'm saying the Jesus Prayer."

I did say Jesus Prayer before when I left alone at estate where dangerous creatures lived at, when I once terribly sick and when I facing the greater dangers. It give me something I miss all time. I don't remember what was that.

About an hour ago, I was confused about how to proceed with things I needed to do, as I have been experiencing again lately. I seek God's help, in prayer, but the Jesus Prayer is not yet truly inculcated in my being, so I haven't been remembering as I ought. As I began to pray, I realized I needed to pray the Jesus Prayer; I did. It seemed immediate that I knew clearly what to do... I was immediately grateful! Now, I watched this message, and understood the relationship between my praying the Jesus Prayer and the clarity of knowing what to do! Glory to God. Thank you, Father, for this message in it's illumination and timeliness. [As I wrote this, I received a call that my truck repairs are finished; in the conversation, I shared my experience with the Jesus Prayer to the young lady Service Advisor...]
I am also being reminded in the past few days of the time during my seeking God more deeply after my husband's passing, how He showed me without doubting that I can do nothing without Him! Over the years, I have lost the priority status of that knowledge. So, I'm also grateful for the first comment here, explaining the concept...

Father aside from the Jesus Prayer, how do I pray for all the people in pain I see around me? The people with drug problems and mental issues, medical issues etc..

Well, there are many prayers, as well as impromtu prayer. But as touching the Jesus prayer, you could always pray “Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on him/her/them”

I have a honest with respect question that is why to pray for mercy repeatedly when father God shown his mercy already by the crucifixion of his son Jesus on the cross. And what if we pray 'thank you father for your mercy upon us through your son Jesus.'
I really want to know with my respectful approach. Thanks🙂

You can try. You can begin.
And, it will lead you to the church.
The more you pray, the more you will want to participate in the holy Eucharist, and also read the lives of the great practitioners of the prayer.

Please consider ditching the chanting during these segments. It makes it very difficult to concentrate on what is being said. There's always too much distraction. It dilutes and trivializes the message. Why can the person just not be allowed to speak and be heard?
Can people no longer stand to hear someone speak for 2 minutes without music?

Chant is a huge part of our Faith. It is fine to me, and I'm guessing everyone else as no one else mentioned it.
