Great video and nicely produced. Your sound consistency on the kit is really impressive (rimshots, fore example). My book would be Charley Wilcoxon's Modern Rudimental Swing Solos for the Advanced Drummer.
Thanks again for another informative lesson gabriel,1st time i have seen stepped hihat but you have also thrown in some triplet ideas t make this even cooler keep it comin🥁🇦🇺
Great videos Gabriel, very clear and instructive. It helps a lot, thank you! My favorite book currently is the Hybrid Compendium by Gary Griffith. Pretty cool and unique.
Hey, I just checked that out on his Instagram, very cool and full of chops. Thank you for introducing me to a method with which I am not familiar. Also I'm glad you like my video
"Advanced techniques for the modern drummer". Jim Chapin. Took me forever to finish that book but when I did I really felt like I accomplished something.
It's encouraging to see the comments here that speak of 4 Way Coordination and Ted Reed's Syncopation etc... I teach a whole course on that on my website: www.drumtiptuesday.com/reading-coordination/videos/reading-coordination-trailer but it doesn't get as much play as some of the others. Ironically I spent more time filming that one than almost any other lol
I spent a couple of years working on the triplet section of that book, going through all the possible displacement options, keeping a jazz ride pattern going. I worked on this until every permutation became easy. This really helped me free up my left foot.
Thank you for adding to the conversation. This is the second vote for the Funky Primer which makes me think that I should at least mention that I have created a six part course based on this kind of material. I call it "Kick Grid Eighth Notes" it's filmed really nice and I'm just noticing now that I don't actually show any of it in the trailer lol, I just talk about it. Anyway if you want to see the trailer it's here: www.drumtiptuesday.com/kick-grid-eighth-notes/videos/kick-grid-8th-notes-trailer-complete
I have both of those but I spent way more time in the Wilcoxon, it was required when i was in school. I still like finding the occasional grouping of five and other odd stuff in some of those old rudimental books
That's a good one! ...a classic for sure. I remember back in the 80's reading an article in a magazine that took the more "paradiddle like" variations, dropped one eighth note off of the pattern, and orchestrated that pattern (now in 7/8) between kick, snare and hi-hats, to create a linear drum groove. It blew my mind
Where is your hi-hat accents neighbors my name is Phillip slaymaker RUclips video I demonstrate how to swing on high hats. It's cool demonstration with the metronome I also have cool videos one thing he doesn't demonstrate the clutch hook hi hat setup for double kick enjoy neighbors. My drum book is called the drummers rudiments watch my Styx when I count my accents. 🙏🥁😎👍
I Love this book! As a matter of fact I like it so much that I created my own seven etudes that I featured in a three part course called "Reading Coordination" ...and not to brag but, I'm proud of the way that I filmed it. You can watch the trailer here if you want to see some of it. www.drumtiptuesday.com/reading-coordination/videos/reading-coordination-trailer
Thank you to my new teacher
Excellent! I'll see you next Tuesday

You should have a feeling of accomplishment, that book is a beast.
Stick Control GLS love trying to spread it over the kit
A Timeless and Epic book.
Linear Time Playing by Gary Chaffee is a really good book
I had that one years ago, good book, and as a matter of fact I've been working on "Sticking Patterns" again recently.
Drum Set Advanced Studies by Bob McGee. Split page book. Super cool
I haven't worked out of that one, I'm gonna have to look into it. Thank you for posting
A Funky Primer by Charles Dowd
I used to teach lessons out of that book. I used it like the "Stick Control" of back beats. Thank you for commenting
I'd say Wilcoxon - All American Drummer & The Breakbeat Bible.
Dante Agostini II The blue one
O.K. I'm gonna have to look into that one
Great video. Just sub'd for more!

Cool, keep doing it
Gary Chester New Breed
I read out of that and Syncopation every day when I was preparing for my cruise ship audition. There is a ton of reading on those gigs

I’m torn between Wilcoxon and Morello. It’s a coin toss for me.
I have both of those but I spent way more time in the Wilcoxon, it was required when i was in school. I still like finding the occasional grouping of five and other odd stuff in some of those old rudimental books
I love the Wilcoxon "Wrist and Finger Stroke Control" book..that amongst his many other titles
Breakbeat Bible
I'm gonna have to check that one out. Thanks for contributing
