Honestly, if it wasn't staged and the guy wasn't in on the slap, I'd really respect the dude more because he didn't do anything back. You might get called a b*tch, or weak, or ball-less, or a P*ssy, but I think that's a lot more strong and definitely more mature of you to walk away from that without retaliation.
Just fighting back doesn't make me any b*tch or a p*ssy, even though I know through my history of studying various martial arts, that I can take a hit and can defend myself.
I looking at this video, have just realized that I have been slapped once because I was killing this guy and I'm not the best shooter or slasher, but I am really aware of where everyone is on the court and I know how to look guys off of me and get easy looks for teammates.
At one point, we were going back and forth, but he just had enough and slapped the crap out of me after a tough layup, but then I held myself back and just went back to hooping. I told myself in the moment, "He's weak. He's weak and you are stronger."
After the game was done, and I remember we did win, my friend asked if I was alright and I said "I was about 5 seconds away from whooping his ass, but I thought I'd be the bigger guy and walk away."
My friend just looked at me and then he said to me, "Everyone will respect you as the guy who didn't hit back, but instead held back."
