    I bought 3 of these POS spouted cans 2 years ago. It was right before a hurricane when I need gas for my new generator. I can tell you I experienced more stress and frustration trying to operate these ridiculous spouts than dealing with the storm itself. Immediately bought replacement spouts and vent hole plugs from Amazon. Seeing you drilling the cans made me laugh out loud, bringing back the memory of when I did exactly the same thing in the same location on the cans. Great video, thanks for sharing. PS. I have a lot of Springs laying around now because I take them completely out you can pull the spout up and see you later you can push the little lover in and drop it down when you wanna pour. • @stankaliski

    Great idea. I'm heading to amazon to get some of these. These cans are not only garbage but potentially very dangerous. I purchased one of these brands of cans (1 Gal) for my 2-cycle weed trimmer to use for mixing the gas and oil. It's the first new gas can I've purchased in about 20 years.
    The dangerous part is these cans do not vent. I was working on my property (no shade) and had the can with me. With the sun hitting the can basic physics tells you that things expand when heated. When I went to put gas in my trimmer the pressure shot gas all over. Glad I was at least wearing safety glasses. Once again this is the first time using these garbage cans. I never had to worry about this with my old cans. Of course now that the can has cooled down it has collapsed. What a piece of shit.

    Thanks for your video to show folks how to repair their gas cans to make them actually work and be useable again and for some decent nozzles to buy. Who would have thought we would have a simple gas can, be federal govt regulated into being so bad, that they are nearly unusable. All in the effort to force in dirty battery vehicles, made from dirty mining of minerals, by poor Chinese people, and other poor countries. All to be used on our grid that cannot support charging millions of them. Without enough power plant capacity there is no way to fuel these dirty batteries. Without infrastructure, like enough power plants, and millions of miles of electrical lines needed for charging stations, stations that are needed every couple hundred miles. Too bad they have regulated so many of our power plants into shutting down, so that now most states have lost their 20-30% extra capacity that is needed in our just normal conditions. Much less the massive load that charging millions of these things will require, otherwise we would be in a permanent blackout if they were. Its laughable, if it wasn't so serious. The emissions regulations they have put on the internal combustion engine are unmeetable, and soon we will have no choice in vehicles, unless something is done. I can deal with a battery weed-eater or chainsaw. A vehicle is a no go though, unless your so wealthy you can buy new ones rapidly, every few years. The value of a used DC powered vehicle will be very, very low as it should be, with worn out, non replaceable, dirty, non disposable batteries.

      You ain't wrong about any of that. I'm convinced this rapid decline of literally everything is by design. Us non-elites eventually not being able to afford transportation (i.e. freedom of movement) is no accident. I can't hate the government enough... On the other hand my hands are tied as I've a family to worry about and I've never found enough people with enough nuts to do the necessary work to make the correct change. Nobody wants to get their hands dirty. Everyone thinks they can still vote their way out of this bullshit. Americans have forgotten that danger is what makes freedom free.... ooph... I feel a soapbox coming on😆. Maybe in another video! Better quit while I'm ahead right now though! Thanks for watching and commenting!

    Hi, just tried to use 1 of these smart cans, and it was very irritating to say the least. Where do I get a better yellow nozzle kit?

    you remember when those old metal gas cans existed with the ball valve nozzles that you had to rotate 180 degree's to open?

    It seems all of these over-engineered newfangled gas cans to be messier than the simple original ones.
    While I appreciate the idea of preventing fuel leaks and dangers these complicated designs seem to make them more likely.

    I was OK with that piece of garbage of a spout the first few times on my Scepter gas can. But now I can't even use it. So I have to unscrew it and pour the gas in a funnel to fill the mowers. I also vented my gas can by putting a pinhole in the top of the handle to release the pressure. I JUST ORDERED ONE OF THESE KITS SINCE I GOT SEVERAL GAS CANS WITH CRAPPY SPOUTS ON THEM INCLUDING MY SCEPTER 5 GALLON CAN.

    Checking into the anti-EPA replacement nozzles after getting bith hands soaked to pour 3 cups in the mower. Just stupid "safety" switch on them. Let alone the amount of force it takes to push the button in.

    Drill a small pilot hole first and the correct bit won't wobble around.

    These complicated "safety" spouts look fragile. First time they fall over or take a hit you have a bad leak. Safety?

    Those BS nozzles almost left me stranded in the middle of the woods. Spring was jammed on the inside and it wouldn’t engage. Sacrificed a lot of gas with a funnel but made it home. Total garbage

    • @icanonlyimagine4589
      @icanonlyimagine4589 2 года назад

      Why not just unscrew the cap that you use when you put gas in the can, then pot into the funnel?

  • @kumaquattro

    I think it will be a little bit easier for you when drilling the hole if you drill clockwise , you were struggling because you were drilling counter-clockwise .

    For the cans like yours lacking a boss for the vent caps, have you found the flush vents to leak at all, or are they airtight?

    • @Eric_from_Kansas
      @Eric_from_Kansas  11 месяцев назад +1

      Sorry the late reply - I just saw your comment. But what was that: lacking what?
      These vents haven't leaked at all, they do seem airtight.

    • @herrbrahms
      @herrbrahms 11 месяцев назад +1

      I'm talking about the protruding nipple that old style gas cans had on their vent caps. Too bad the new ones don't come with those. The flush vent is my biggest concern about a retrofit.

    • @Eric_from_Kansas
      @Eric_from_Kansas  11 месяцев назад +1

      Oh ok - took me a second but I remember what you're talking about now.
      But so far, no, although these are flush fit, I haven't had problems with them leaking. And it's been almost two years since I've installed them. That said, I've not had them knocked or tipped over much.
