I wish that I had the recording of when my youngest brother had a solo singing this Ave Maria when he was in the Philadelphia Boys’ Choir and Men’s Chorale back in the 80s. It’s been one of my favorites since then. Thank you for posting this one. Beautiful!! ❤

When I was in the choir ('80-'82) this was my absolute favorite song to sing…I liked our version a bit better though, as we had a first soprano - second alto soloist duet (my favorite pairing was Matt Marshall and Sean McCullough), to start the song, and when the rest of us came in it was goose-bump inducing…so powerful. 'Slumber Now Beloved Child' is my second all-time favorite.

Mario Lanza sang this Ave in the film THE GREAT CARUSO with a boy’s choir. Incidentally, Mario was born and raised in Philadelphia.
