I'm building the Tamiya one started last night it's near built but a wee joy! I have just built Geckos new Austin k2y ambulance with the Queen figure so doing research I noticed the tilly she was working on aswell as the Austin ambulance so remembered I had the tilly in my stash and it has all the training decals and L plates on the decal sheet but no call out in back of instructions but they are all there so I'm away to attempt a diorama of 1945 at the ATS Centre Surrey I've a few ideas for a nice display diorama! I got 2 different grills in the tilly kit one has wider openings in the grill that's it really
The mark of a champion is endurance and fortitude.... overcome the obstacles. You my friend meet and exceed the requirements. I would have taken it to the nearest dumpster. Bravo "Bud" Dan
Thanks Andrzej, yeah I'm happy with the weathering so far, once it's on the base and I've got the ground colours locked down I will finish it of with the pigments to bring all the parts together.
I have to say that is beautiful little vehicle just enough PE and in the right places. I've had my I on a Cromwell made by Skp. I think I will be buying that one and the little truck you've really made a beautiful job of that and your right. It is cute, looking forward to seeing all these bits together on the diorama, especially that Bofors gun I hope you know you probably will be known as the man with the sack that would be good if you changed to the sack man, I definitely remember that name lol anyway fantastic job and looking forward to next update. Take care Sim
HG Barnes Lol, not exactly right, I fear both of them 😄. I like PE but the really small stuff does my head in, resin figures are ok but the really delicate stuff is very frustrating, I just made a 30cal in resin and PE and I nearly went mad with the resin bits breaking all the time
Maybe it's my lack of experience, but from all the hundreds of hours watching builds I really can't figure out what all the fuss is about. Sure they look a little more detailed, yet the operative word is little. Please correct me, for I'm happy to learn. THX
A very Kool build, my friend ! Like you, I once made a model of the truck my Dad drove in Europe after D-Day. When I showed it to him his response was,, "What's that ?". So I told him and was all proud of it and myself. His response ? "OK"...... So that ended that. I'm sure someone will make a new version of the vehicle and I'll do another one, just for ME ! How does this compare with the Tamiya kit ? I can't wait until you have more to show. So keep up the good work, Sack ! ( No you'll never get rid of the nickname now!)
Thanks Ennis, LOL @ the nickname, as I said, I've had way worse :) I didn't even know Tamiya did a Version, but I had a poke around and found a build video Michael Barkas did many years ago which of course he made look awesome, but from what I can see because the Tamiya kit had no PE the overall detail and appearance probably looks better on the SKP version. I will try to post the link here to MB's video, but I'm not sure if it will work. ruclips.net/video/7FUf0ozE234/видео.html
+Halidon How available are SKP kits ? I'm not familiar with those ? I've seen his video and it's a good one. I'm with you about the PE stuff. I think it's the same version as yours. I have the ACE kit and it's a different model. I was told by some British modelers that my version wasn't used by the RAF. it was used by the Army.
+Ennis Anderson I get most of my stuff online, we are not blessed with much in the way of actual hobby shops, certainly none near to where I live. They seem to do mostly after market stuff, lots of tow cables and head/tail lights etc, a few vehicles and figures, the Tilly is the only kit of theirs I have done.
+Halidon I'm in the same boat as you. I have to get most everything online myself. I think now I really want the Tamiya kit, but I'm keeping my eye out for them to. Never know what her you might find ! For some unknown reason I'm wanting to do an RAF version.
Great video and well explained Btw, can you publish the link to Hamilkar Barkas "color of tools" that you mentioned in the video? I really have no idea what the color should be. Thanks!
Thanks Andrew, here is the link to the video by Hamilkar Barkas that I referenced - ruclips.net/video/IvKlS_XTeAU/видео.html Aside from his overall awesome channel, he does a great series on Modelling Heresy which I find very interesting and enjoyable.

Dan Verna Thanks Dan, or I just don't like to be beaten by bits of inanimate plastic 😄😄😄.
By the way Glen , the eggs and bacon smelled so darn good I could actually smell them all the way up here in the USA. 😎
Love the wheels there the same as in the Gecko k2y ambulance
Fantastic attention to detail.Inspirational.

Thanks Sim, well I've certainly been called a lot worse than sack man over the journey 😜
Nice job 👍
Thanks Doug
How interesting...you feared PE where I fear resin. Bang-up job Ol'Son.
