I figured they’d find out what people were doing to convert their pouches and make changes. UGH! I am carrying my pouch I converted to a crossbody this week while I'm on a business trip. Love it! I need to snag the canvas ebony and cognac pouches before they change those, too. The leather ones are very cute but hate they raised the prices so much.
I am glad you were able to snag one! I have been holding out for the coated canvas, but may have to just grab the canvas option in Paper. You definitely should, they’re so cute to style and accessorize! It’s such a shame, but I get they have to account for inflation as well! 🤷♀️ Is the strap for the conversion durable/have you had any issues with wear and tear?

The material is certainly a factor in the price hike overall. The point I’m trying to make though is how Longchamp (like many other brands) is taking advantage of customer’s versatility as a means to increase profits by reducing the availability of the mini pouch options (the coated canvas they came in had a more formal/dressy look to it) and essentially forcing folks to buy the ready made bags at a much higher price point (in just the leather). Other brands do it as well, LV is notorious for it. But it was more of a surprise coming from Longchamp as they’ve been pretty consistent for much longer than many others .
Yeah I agree, if there is only something that could be done about all the outrageous price gouging.
I will say that with folks buying less and less, it really is starting to affect these brands! Whether they’d like to admit it or not is another thing, but it’s definitely working (slowly) in that regard. So hopefully things start to change for the better sooner than later.
Sadly, even if I buy an authentic bag, some people will think it's fake because I'm a person of color. But some people will also think my luxrul is authentic.
I think there's a big misunderstanding here. The 'City pouch' which I have is a coated canvas (not leather) and the Xtra XS Pouch which you have here in the video in cognac is their new 'leather' collection. It's not just the strap, it's also for the leather materials they are now using instead of the coated canvas.
I am not misunderstanding anything and am fully aware of the price/material variations between recycled canvas, coated canvas and the newer leather. Even with the leathers being more expensive, the coated canvas bags (rather than the pouches) have always been at least double the price of the recycled canvas bags. I have seen/experienced that first hand and I get the variation. The point I am trying to make here is that with the pouches specifically being so similarly priced (recycled vs coated), it wasn’t until this trend of DIY’ng the pouches into bags started that they 1.are pushing the ‘leather crossbody bags’ at the elevated prices and 2.refusing to restock the coated canvas pouches which would force those that want the elevated look to pay the significantly higher prices. Even if they manage to bring the coated canvas option back, I’d imagine they would bring it back similar to this new leather at a much higher price.
@@celineandme Ok, didn't mean to offend you. I'm an avid Longchamp fan for 20 years and so yes they feature & 'finish' seasonal styles/collections. There are so many pieces that I wish they would bring back. They do offer the City (coated canvas) in an XS bag, also popular & slightly larger than the pouch for $215 as an alternative. Unfortunately, most lux brands are getting creative with their trendier pieces with higher prices.
@@Celestinaando No offense taken ☺️ I hadn’t meant to come off offended or defensive, was more so trying to articulate more directly what I was trying to convey in the video. But, that is great you’ve been wearing for such a long time! Ah yes, I have seen the XS version; it’s adorable but I do wish it featured the top handle that the pouch offered. I can definitely see that for the prices and I can understand they want to make the profit. At this point I’m more sad I missed out on the city pouch I guess haha. I’ve heard bigger bags are supposed to be making a comeback, so maybe they’ll bring it back then 🤔
The longchamp cuir/leather have always been way overpriced imo.
I absolutely love their le pliage XS size but hate the energy line's branding on the zipper. I wish they just go more for that or introduce size in between the XS and S
I would absolutely agree on the leather pricing! I love my box trot bag but would definitely question the rationale behind the pricing. I see what you’re talking about with the size variances. Plus, I am 100% with you about the energy line, the branding brings the look down. One day they will get it right I am sure lol

The bags are very cute, but the Coach tabby cat is my favorite Coach style. The taupe color is also very beautifu*preluxz* .
I agree about not carrying backpack when i am travelling and am in crowds etc. I will use it on the plane as carryon however. My most recent trip i brought my backpack, nylon tote and Senreve Aria from *preluxz* . Nylon tote was used during the day for sightseeing and easily fit everything i needed. Evenings or when i didn't want to lug too much I used the Aria. It can be worn as belt bag, sling or clutch. I have chain strap to swap in if i need fancy look too.
Ah yes, the pouch game. I just bought one of the leather ones in colorblock because im tired of waiting for the canvas to be available. Regardless of the high price points, they are going to sell out so I jumped at it when I saw it. Particularly when other designers are missing the boat on this. LV is always playing games with availability. Gucci eliminated their mini ophidia for whatever reason and MCM and Coach are completely lacking in pouches period; they must really think we all want to carry around the kitchen sink judging from the sizes they are pushing these days. Anyway, great video, and I definitely agree with your point, but I wanted one of these so badly!
I am always one to say if you can justify the price with yourself, that’s all the rationale you need to purchase a bag/anything! So I totally understand grabbing it. Plus, in the grand scheme of designer bags, it’s not a steep price overall. I have heard that mini bags are starting to go out of trend and oversized bags are coming back…I can’t keep up nor do I want to carry the whole house around (like you mentioned). I do think the pouch game is increasing as more people try to DIY them to combat recent price hikes. Nonetheless, I am glad you ended up getting your bag and hope you are enjoying it! ☺️

Yes, I completely understand that and agree that drives the price. However, the point still stands that the pouch without the strap in leather would not cost that much. The comparability of the price between the leather and the coated canvas options (in the larger bags) provides a better comparison. Another factor to consider is that they refuse to restock the coated version of the pouch which I imagine is their way of driving customers towards the leather options.
yep and did you see their 80 dollar tiny ass coin pouch? oh my goodness i would never pay full price for that theyre insane

I know!! 😔 it is frustrating but I get that they need to make money and want to gain profit from folks making it a bag. I guess at least it’s still reasonably priced compared to other designer alternatives.
