- The United States has some of the most grand and impressive monuments in the world. Two of these monuments are located in South Dakota and happen to be surrounded by wildlife, including birds. On a trip to South Dakota, Ryan made a stop at Crazy Horse and Mount Rushmore to see what species live there.
Thanks to Terry Sohl for allowing us to use his range maps

Happy 4th of July, everyone!

Happy 4th 🇺🇸
Same to you! And thanks for the video- it was really neat!🙂👍
@@staufferfamily9629 You're welcome!
Nature puts on its own fireworks show daily and you two do a great job showing it off.
It sure does! Thank you!
I'm really enjoying doing a virtual tour of USA with you two! The birds are so varied and pretty and so are the landscapes. Thankyou. 🇬🇧
You're welcome! There is so much to see in the world!
I used to visit Mt. Rushmore and I've seen mountain bluebirds as well. I love their sky-blue color.
Awesome!
Yessss you got the best ssp of DEJU. White "sexy" winged!!!!
Haha, first time hearing that phrase for them!
I have always wanted to see a mountain blue bird! So pretty! 😆
They are gorgeous!
Thanks guys 👍Steven
You're welcome!
Good job Ryan! I love Black-backed Woodpeckers. Cool that you found one there.
Thank you! Was glad I got to see that one there!
This was great! More videos like this.. For me a lazy porch 4th. Cedar Waxwing, Cat Birds, Mourning Dove and House Finch.
Sounds like a great day!
That sounds like a typical trip for me. I am looking at birds while everyone else is looking at the monument or other tourist attraction! I really like the black-backed woodpecker and the mountain bluebird!
I recall when I was there I video'd a crow in the parking lot...Im always birding no matter what! Glad you got a new State Bird.
Nice! And thanks!
Great video! An interesting place for sure ... and even better birds! The black-backed was a great find.
Thanks!
Loved the format of this video! Birds, history, habitat. Then interspersing vlog and B-roll with species account and close ups. Music at just the right levels. Well done!
Thanks, Greg!
❤
😁
Happy 4th! Been to SD before been exactly where you visited on today's episode. I think it will take another 100 years to complete Crazy Horse. Beautiful birds up there just a nice place to visit. We stayed in Deadwood.
Nice! Got American Dipper in Deadwood! ruclips.net/video/zXhgtYl7WEU/видео.html
@@BadgerlandBirding Great Birding! Beautiful & interesting breed. I must have missed him through the years, Ma is 95 she said she has seen him before on Nature (PBS). Love Deadwood maybe get back up there again someday. Thanks Guys!
Mountain Bluebirds are certainly beautiful birds! I've only seen them a few times, but it's always exciting to see them.
Agreed!
you take videos so beautiful, some of your birds shoot very beautifully 🤗
I just love seeing the bluebirds. I didn't realize there was a mountain bluebird that was different than the western ones.
There’s Eastern, Western, and Mountain.
HAPPY 4TH OF JULY GUYS!!
The Mountain Blue Bird is beautiful!! I don't think I've ever seen one, so thanks a bunch for showing! Loved seeing the monuments also!!🇺🇸
Thank you! Mountain Bluebirds are always a treat to see!
Dude! Black-backed WP! What a treat! (For many years/trips it was a Jinx bird of mine, but in 2017 I got it in Alaska on my big trip there)
Happy 4th 🇺🇸
Happy 4th!
Lovely video! Are you planning on coming to Canada? I’m in Saskatchewan would love to have you. I posted a RUclips video with lots of different species of ducklings today and would be curious to see if I got all of the ID’s right.
Thanks! We'd love to make it to Canada someday, just not sure when! If I have some time I will check out the ducklings! Sometimes they can be tricky to ID!
I would've liked to see what you could observe at Wind Cave and in the Badlands NPs
We did a video at the badlands actually
Mountain Bluebirds are the bird that most people think of when you say "bird". Even if they dont know what its called
I did a very informal study a couple years ago and I found that of the forty people I asked, nine said robin, four said pigeon, four said parrot, four said eagle, four said blue jay, three said chickadee, two said blackbird, sparrow or owl and one said chicken, cuckoo, dove, cardinal or puffin.
Cool! I just say that because if you say to draw a bird with color people tend to do a solid blue bird
@@_ethanol_ Wonder if Twitter had any influence on that!
@@bearybirding Interesting!
You and I are a bit alike. I would be looking at the birds rather than the statues.
