5 months ago I lost my dad to cancer. 4 weeks ago my mother to covid 19. My wife left me during this traumatic time. Two friends stood by me. I love them dearly for this and will always be grateful. I was having a really hard time 5 yrs ago. Everything in my life was torn upside down. That morning before work I hit my knees raised my hands above my head and I said “God I need you to please help me. I just can’t do this anymore. I need you more now than ever. “ That day I went into work and I just felt like everything was going to workout. A friend of mine decided we should go out for a bite since we ran out of work early. That night I met my future husband. I’m not struggling in any part of my life anymore. God is good. He has taken such good care of myself and my family.

Have to every single night, doze off into light sleep& wake up almost every hour, for several years, double cancer survivor w cirrhosis& a multitude of illnesses. As soon as I read your comment, the song "No Longer Slaves" by Jonathan & Melissa Helser came to mind. You see I used to be like you. What helped me to push back against them was to immerse myself with songs about God's love and constantly bringing my fears, worries, and anxieties to God no matter how small or silly they are.
As someone who lately has been struggling In praying at night due to fear and feeling that God doesn’t want to hear me , this has restore everything that I denied. Don't feel foolish, Brenda. Just talk to Him. I like to start out by thanking Him for all He has done for me and especially for the blood of Jesus that was shed for all of us (Psalm 91 - prayer of protection; there is also a book out by Joseph Prince with the same title - it is awesome). Then I repent of all my sins and the sins of my family and ask for His strength to be obedient to His will/Word and to change me to make me more like Him each day. Then I pray for specific needs, for myself, others and for my country. I have found that as I talk to Him. the Holy Spirit leads me into areas I need to address.
During these times we need to keep looking up and stay focused on Him and not looking around dwelling on our circumstances. He's in control of it all. God bless you, Brenda. Be well.
