Ever since the 17th Amendment provided for the direct election of senators by the voters and not the state legislatures, the Senators are more like Representatives than they used to be.
The fact this common sense even has to be debated is the scariest part.

Except that it's not. The Senate Judiciary Committee has the Democrats in the majority. And, just as Senator Cruz predicted, they will all rubber stamp this nominee with their votes. The nominee will then advance to the full Senate for a vote which, itself, almost always votes to confirm in alignment with the Judiciary Committee's recommendation.
The reasoning being the Judiciary Committee already did the hard work of holding a hearing, vetting the nominee, and passing them on to the full Senate with their vote; so why rehash their hearing all over again? Just vote to confirm the nominee because the Judiciary Committee already gave them their seal of approval (lone dissenting voices like Senator Cruz's notwithstanding).
This nominee is going to wind up serving as a Federal judge, regardless of Cruz's savaging of her testimony and written letter entered into the record of the Judiciary Committee.
What justice are you talking about? Do you realize our weak GOP has let most of these swine get in. There is not any true justice coming.

Senator Cruz explicitly states that the letter was written on March 16, 2020 at which time the entire world was in fear of the coronavirus. He goes on to read at 1:39 the opening remarks in which the nominee called for "Immediate release of ALL persons INCARCERATED WITHOUT CONVICTION...." referring to such as "all prisoners" is a deliberate failure to recognize the context of the statement. The context as written would have only applied to persons that were currently in jail without being found guilty (by plea or verdict in court).

This would be an issue that would hurt all states. Every judgement has the potential to effect all states, because released convicts still have the right to travel and do harm somewhere else where people don't know them. Judges need to be appointed with all voters best interest in mind.
