Here in MN I also carry a small shovel, a snow brush/window scraper, hand warmers and extra windshield washer fluid for road-trips during the winter. We have kids so I also bring a larger battery pack to run iPads and things off of instead of the car’s power. Not really necessary but it’s nice to have the offline-power so to speak. Not to mention snacks. Gotta have snacks.
Oh, I’m with you, snacks are key. In fact, what you see in my pile of stuff is only part of it, since we have to pack a whole bunch of other kid, friendly things, like snacks, pillows, blankets, etc. etc..
Yes!!! Good ideas.
Great video! Enjoy your content sir!
Thanks!
wow, thats a lot of stuff. no one can say youre not prepared! have a safe/fun trip.
I’ve been “collecting” stuff for a while, :) thx.
What a great setup for a road trip! Looks like you're prepared for just about anything that comes your way. Thanks for the glowing review and we hope you had a great trip!
Thanks! great product. I'll keep you posted as to how it fares over time against the two kids. :)
Very interesting video, your videos have become better over time. Enjoy your road trip.
I have the 22” black wheel in my configuration, I am curious about durability as some have mentioned the black is a clear coat so could perhaps be easily scratched and exposed the silver undercoat color.
Thanks for the compliment. And thanks for watching. I’ll let you know about the black rims. I haven’t seen any issues yet although it’s just Brand New.
Thanks Scott 😊
One thing I learned over 50 years ago (wow--that was a long time ago!) is "don't carry anything in the cabin that you don't want to hit you in the head". In an accident I guarantee you will get hit by the heaviest, hardest object in the cabin with you. A truck driver(he'd been driving 40 years at that time) told me that as I was considering carrying a chain in the cab of a truck. I found a way to carry the chain outside the cabin.
I have kids so a roll of paper towels, wipes, a towel or two is always on board for when they inevitably lose their breakfast.
Good on you for including recovery gear. That said I do not think I would want to carry a ball hitch anywhere on my vehicle except in the hitch in the event of an accident.
How do you jumpstart a Rivian?
I do wish that Rivian made space for a full size spare but packaging probably prevented that.
I should get all these staff and book a Farmer's market booth.😄
You’d make a mint!
Can you share the shopping links for the adapters that were mentioned in your video? I am interested in the Tesla destination charging adapter and one for RV electrical hook ups
The crew is almost to Wendover!!
Made it. Further than we expected in a day. About 10 hr drive time without major kid meltdown.
Great gear list! I’d probably get a full size spare and mount it to a Rigid Swingout instead of using the inflatable spare.
The inflatable spare is actually pretty good. I'd hate to get stuck in the cold and a long way from anywhere, but it would work. I've tried it - vid on the way! Thx for watching.
I hope we don’t need any of these things! But better prepared than not.
Wishing I would have brought the handheld vacuum!
Hello Scott, this is excellent! Thank you so much for all these excellent suggestions! First, I had no idea that you could use the R1 to jumpstart another vehicle. I'd like to hear more on this. I also am nervous about having enough charging gear for any eventuality. One item that I've thought about, in addition to all of the quite reasonable portable charging adaptors and solutions you have on your list, is a NEMA 14-50R to Nema 14-30P adaptor, in case charging through a dryer outlet is needed. Another is a charging cord that terminates in Nema 14-50R and NEMA 14-50P, in case your portable charging cord isn't long enough to reach an outlet of opportunity. What are your thoughts on these?
Thanks for the suggestions, yeah, I need to up my cord and plug game I think. I’m sure there are lots of combos and plug types that I don’t have. For us, we plan on being able to charge at fast chargers, the whole way, so I don’t think I’ll ever need to plug into anyone’s home lines.
As for jumpstarting, I wouldn’t attempt it with the Rivian, although, technically, it could be possible, the wagan device is meant to be used as a portable item. So I just have that for convenience.
@@RivianDad By the way, these suggestions are really helpful. Thank you so much! I'm a Plan A, Plan B, and Plan C type of person. So this is GREAT!
Did you plug in the dewalt charger in the truck? Does it work/charge?
My F150 has an outlet, but well known issue it that they are not strong enough to charge.
Thank you for confirming. Have a safe trip!
I have not tried but don’t see why it wouldn’t work. I’ll confirm.
Better over prepared than under! The seat protectors are my favorite-- practical, and sleek! Can they be washed?
The material is pretty stiff canvas. I think they'd be fine washing them with a wet rag buy hand. Not sure if they can be put in a machine.
Wow, essentials here limited to wide brim hat, sunscreen, and a plug kit😉
Brave soul.
What percentage tint did you get for the sides and windshield?
🔥
Hello sir how r u plz can u tell me how much cost to charge one time R1S
He's like an EV prepper.
I do what I can! :) thx
He is the guy you wish to have help you on the side of the road when you are stuck in a ditch or need medical supplies. Good on you for being a prepared citizen!
