Thank you so much for WATCHing my video and I hope that you check out all my other content.
I release 3 videos per week, all watch related, including reviews, first impressions and general watch related topics.
I try very hard to diversify my content. Featuring known watch brands, microbrands, Aliexpress. Some I have purchased new, others second hand.
The majority of the watches that I feature I have purchased. I buy them to enjoy, wear, have in my collection. I then also feature them on this channel.
Being a smaller channel it is challenging to cover the cost of all the watches that I buy and partly because of this I have become an affiliate member with a number of companies including Aliexpress and Ashford.com.
If you are looking for watches from well known brands then it is worth checking out:
www.ashford.com
If you are looking for great strap options then definitely check out:
vario.sg/
and
artemstraps.co...
As an affiliate member I may leave affiliate links in the descriptions of videos. These links will direct you to the watches that I’ve experienced, reviewed and would certainly recommend. If you choose to use those links I will earn a very small commission.
Thank you very much if you choose to use those links.
Below are affiliate links for my absolute favourite watches on Aliexpress. Each of them I have owned and had positive experiences with the stores that they are linked to.

This watch also has a lot of Omega design queues. It’s an amalgamation of Rolex and Omega- not just Rolex
Thanks for WATCHing
I really like Ginault, and I think the Silent Service is a fantastic, stunner of a watch. Great specs, and awesome finishing. Sadly, it's a watch I can't afford, but it doesn't hurt to look. Thanks James
Thanks for WATCHing
Spot on about needing a great bracelet James.
The Mako III is a fantastic watch but let down by the 22mm no taper bracelet. Thanks James.
It is definitely something that elevates the watch. I notice the same when handling my Christopher wards.
Wow!!! Now normally i don't rate Rolex Submariners but i LOVE this. This thing exudes quality and class. That very cool bezel light catching outer, the fully lumed Sapphire Bezel insert, the very cool and functional oversized crown (which also catches the light) and the Mil Sub hands and the flashes of red just really come together to bring s symphony for the eyes. Do wish it had a cyclops as i feel the date would be hard to read, and a Red Date would have had me scrambling to hit buy now. Would love to see a gmt version too. The lume is incredible and this is an excellent piece overall. Nice review!
Thank you. It is an incredible watch. I’ve really enjoyed having some time with it.
That Lume is 🔥
It is very good
This watch is gorgeous. I for some reason thought this was a $3,000 watch. I’m thinking of saving up for an entry level luxury, and this just made the list of possibilities. Thanks for the great review!
It is definitely one worth considering.
Great review and analysis. Spot on. Earlier in the year I discovered Ginault. Watched many reviews and decided to pick up the Ocean Rover 2 (blue bezel no date) and love it. Beautiful watch. My exact first words were "this is stunning". I ended up purchasing the Silent Service (no date) and now just waiting for the watch which I can't wait for. There is some wait time from date of purchase as the watches are custom made. Again great review and thanks for sharing. Keep up the great work!
Thank you. I’m sure you will love it when it arrives
So impressive
Indeed! I like the Silent Service more than the Ocean Rover.
Excellent value proposition
Thanks for WATCHing
Yes, the Ginault silent service does look like a submariner, but it also looks like a 62 Mas but definitely a great watch for the price
It really is incredible
The references to Rolex in this review, I feel are more relevant for the Ginault Ocean Rover II. That watch is an exercise on what the MilSub would be like today had it not been discontinued.
The Silent Service takes heavy inspiration from the OMEGA Seamaster 2254.50.00. With the sword hands and everything. But it still shows Ginault’s own design inspirations from other brands like Rolex and their own original voice too, with the lack of crown guards, thick crown, the bezel insert and edges. I really like both, The Silent Service and Ocean Rover II.
That probably why I like this one so much.
I own a Ginault OR2 blue bezel with date. It is fantastic. Yes, they may seem a little expensive for a microbrand, but they are worth every penny. The quality is simply outstanding for the money.
The buying experience was great too.
Buy one. Join the club. You won’t be disappointed.
Absolutely
Rolex inspired? How… because it’s round? It looks nothing like a Rolex. Thank God ! I love mine.
Thanks for WATCHing
You’re clearly a noob. Omega British MOD 300 dial, hands, and insert. Rolex case, bracelet, and clasp. It’s a mixture of two historic designs. That’s the point.
Wonder why Ginault doesn’t sign the clasp? It’s an effort to avoid legal prosecution from Rolex. Which is why they also hide the clasp on their site. It’s a patented Rolex clasp.
I ordered this watch as soon as it was released and even now 2 years later it is hands down my favourite diver. In fact apart from my Rolex it is my only diver. I absolutely love it's and its suchlike a tank
That’s great to hear. It is such an impressive watch
I agree with you, Rolex is a great brand . Personally, it's not one of my favorites. Even though this is inspired by the Rolex design, it hits a bit different. Pretty nice 👌🏾
Thanks for WATCHing
This is a perfect example of a watch that punches above its weight ,a good looking watch that is very legible and looks like it can handle itself?
Thanks for WATCHing
I really quite like these from afar, I've been tempted a few times, even as far as the checkout on the website but the import taxes and duties across the US and Canada border are the only thing that's put me off so far. I got stung so badly on my VAER 🤪... Lovely video 🔥
That is disappointing.
It’s a shame that that take so much.
I have to pay 10% on anything imported over $1000.
It starts to add up when spending more on a watch.
Hi James this watch looks great but for me I would have added the crown guard's and the quality looks good. But and it's a big but £1100 for a homage watch is to much money as if I'm spending this price point I would and have bought a Christopher ward because their design are there own and not a homage and not promoting someone else design . don't get me wrong I'm not against a homage watch but once you get past a price point (£500) the brand and independent design comes into account. This watch does look very good quality though (what your thoughts)great video thanks John 👍
I definitely understand that.
It was one of the reasons my CW had a guest appearance
Sharp looking watch. Also like the Expeditioner. 👍
I did just see that too
Looks great, but that text is like they are trying way too hard to convince the costumer.
Thanks for WATCHing
A brilliant design! I'd prefer this over a Rolex Sub or a Tudor Black Bay! A superior dial design, and the bezel...wow, love the splines, very unique. As well as a sapphire crystal ring over the numerals and black inlay. Really, for what is going for $1,500 out there, this is a great value. I concur way better than the CW. Only the Squale Titanium diver just released this Summer rivals it in value and quality.
Thanks for WATCHing
Very nice
It is very impressive
Wow an American watch I’m impressed. I like that. I wish it had drilled lugs and one less line of text.
Thanks for WATCHing
Not really. The company was started by someone who (allegedly) made fake rolex watches. He then went legit and started making homages about 5 or 10 years ago.
i had this watch. Only reason I let it go was I did not like how flat it felt on my 7": wrist. I wish it curved a little into the wrist. And two, hated the look of that sapphire glass bezel insert. Too reflective. Otherwise the watch is near perfect
Thanks for WATCHing
They just announced a new model BTW.
I just saw that.
👍
👍
5:54 Crenellation?
Hmmmm. It does look like that.
Day 3 of asking for a shout out 💪
I know. I’m sure you can understand why I haven’t.
Perhaps you can be a part of an upcoming multi collaboration video.
I’ll let you know.
🤩 that would be class
Hmmm… I‘ve heard a lot of praises of Ginault, but I think it does not translate well into videos. I don‘t see anything that really stands out. You mentioned “quality“ multiple times, but what does that actually mean?
What I did see in your video is that warranty is disappointingly short, that they did not take the effort of aligning the knurling with the bezel insert and that the said enamel dial came across not rich and deep but flat and grayish.
So overall, I don’t know what to take from this.
Fit, finish and feel. Holding this one you can just feel the quality
Get one and you’ll see. They are excellent quality for the price. Everything he says is true. It’s only when you get hands on that you realize.
@@matthewkerrison4735 Unless you know a Ginault owner there is no way to get hands on with a Ginault watch other than ordering it. That‘s not an option because sending it back from Europe to the US will cause quite some hassle with customs, insurance etc. Too much risk.
just another dive watch with a quality bracelet. I've got a larger wrist but 50mm lug to lug makes it impractical for everyday wear. The price is crazy I think.
Thanks for WATCHing
Why not Sinn or Marathon, or spend a bit more on a pre owned SuperOcean or Black Bay / Pelagos.
Thanks for WATCHing
One thing I cannot stand.
One thing not even Seiko can hide.
...
The gap between the bezel insert and the crystal.
The "ef" gap.
The crystal is supposed to be invisible.
...
(I 'm lucky enough to own a chinese Cadisen C8230 with zero gap.
Kudos to Cadisen.
As for the rest of my watches?
I 'm in the hunt to eliminate it,
buying multiple crystals and bezel inserts for an enternity
until I manage to lessen the effect to an acceptable degree.)
Thanks for WATCHing
How is this thing in any sense a Rolex alternative?? Your opening dial shot reveals all sorts of debris floating around, not to mention the god-awful flat grayish-black color. I've seen Chinese stuff at a quarter the price with better quality control. I can't even watch the whole video after this.
Watch carefully before commenting.
The debris are all outside, just watch the second hand moving and where those debris are.
James needs to wear gloves and clean before shooting.
The camera picks up dust in the top of the crystal that you can see.
I do my best to clean the watches before filming. But. It’s not always perfect
@@WATCHingJames no offense, James.
It’s expensive to start this journey and with more subs and views you will get the resources to “clean up”. Keep up the good work.
Okay, fair enough. But I still hate that dial color, haha
The biggest con in the entire watch industry.
Rolex or Ginault or both?
@@bulldogms Ginault. You should read up on the history of the company.
I think that’s a bit over the top
@@LTC_Tiger the Thomas Caddell issue?
