Regardless of the path to sobriety, the biggest roadblock is a person wanting the maximum benefit, for the LEAST amount of effort. The recovery community I am engaged with has many sayings, and one of them is, "Bring the body, and the mind will follow".
That is the condensed version of how sobriety is achieved. Tiger Woods did not come out of the womb, as the most dominant golfer we have ever known...he had to PRACTICE, and STILL practices. He DIDN'T "think" his way to the top, he had to take the physical action of swinging the club, and when he got good results, his mindset, belief system, or whatever you want to call it, FOLLOWED.
True sobriety is about developing the emotional stability to not only withstand what life will throw at us, but to be an example to others that we don't have to self destruct over ANYTHING! ✌❤ Mark

Emotional stability comes from being aware of thinking and behaviour, and changing with compassion for ourselves and our loved ones. I think Smart recovery has a CBT component which helps with these things. ❤

I want to become involved in SMART RECOVERY’s family and friends program. I live in the San Diego area. Where do I go from here? How do I start?

I googles it and it showed many online and in-person meetings all over the world. Google the smart recovery and explore the app. Hope this helps. I literally just heard about smart 2 hours ago so idk if it helps but I'll try anything . Best of luck.
