- This is round 2 of Austrian Alps Championship. In the first round I was successful with lure fishing using shads and spoons. In this second round I caught a lot using dead bait (roach and smelt) with a number 2 hook. Night time in the rain and it was an interesting way to win the tournament. Predators in this lake are really tough to get so hopefully this will be helpful.

The peg fishing predator lakes are less challenging than the lure-only fishing predator lakes. The bait rods are definitely tournament-savers.

I'm having so much trouble catching predators on Waldsee at dawn with light clouds, I've tried different areas and different bait/bait types with mixed results but none of them have won me the tourney. One spot is good for catfish and there's a good spot for zander and pike. But there is just too much time between strikes and I'm lucky if I get anything other than carp to even look at my top lures, spinners, spoons, plastics and Rat-L-Traps. I have caught a few with a Rat-L but it's very inconsistent especially during the actual career event.
Thanks for the comment JT. Yeah, Waldsee is horribly inconsistent. My tactic was always to lay down some deadbaits and go for zander or pike on a lure. I have beat the amateur tournament maybe 4 times out 40 to 50 tries! It's very difficult and inconsistent, some of it is luck, it might help if you have some DLC lures (though I haven't tried the trophy lures here yet), or if you get lucky and catch Curiosity. I have a video where I beat it here: ruclips.net/video/l1bSlmWVGno/видео.html . Other than that, I tried my best doing research and it appears most people just say it's broken and skip it. I hated the idea of giving up on it so I must have tried about 50 times. Very frustrating. Sorry I can't be of any more help than that.
Someone commented on the Waldsee video saying they put two roach heads and let the spectrum bait sit between them and she ended up catching a trophy catfish that way, might be worth a shot too!
I caught a 45 lb 1 oz tiger muskie while doing the bass offline tournament at gurnursville.. Used ben parker magnum spoon silver as a lure..

How much is it to buy the roach?
3000 TP for the full fish and 2000 TP for the head. You can make lots of TP doing offline tournaments!
and you need a #2 hook which is 2000TP as well

Can you do one of these during the day and see if you need different lures
If you're talking about the offline predator tournament I've been having pretty consistent success by using the 3 inch Rainbow Special diving crankbait or the Arborgast jitterbug perch. Since you can only fish one at a time my other two rods are set up with a mackerel head and a roach. Try casting the deadbaits closer to the shoreline and work your spinning setup parallel to the bank. You could try switching up the spinning tackle for a spoon or a lipless crankbait, possibly a perch or Roach swimbait based on those fish being present in Bergsee. A pro shad also might work better for catching trout which count as predators. Good luck! I know Bergsee is a pain in the ass.
How do I use the roach or smelt as bait?!
Hey, you have to equip a #2 hook and then they will be available under the dead bait section, but will only appear once you equip the #2 hook.
