That passing motorist that saw Polly Ann and her partner dead in their car was my grandfather. He, along with my grandmother and aunt were on their way to church when he noticed a car pulled off the side of the road. He was always one to help others, and thought maybe they were having car problems. When he walked up to the window, he noticed they had both been shot in the back. He went and notified the police. I still live in Texarkana, and people still talk about these killings to this day. I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity while a student at Texarkana College in 2005 to talk to a gentleman that lived during the killings. He and my professor were discussing the topic while I was in the room doing some local research for a sociology project. I asked if I could sit in on their conversation, and they were kind enough to let me. I wish to this day that I would have had a tape recorder so I could listen back to what he recounted from the actual 1946 killings. A lot of what he said was not told in the movie in 1976. He said it was a very scary time for Texarkana, because at that time it was a small Mayberry like town where things of this nature did not happen. There are so many questions I still have, and it makes me sad that there are not many left from that time to ask these questions to.

For all we know it could have been a shop-owner--looking to make a little money! If we just defeated the Germans then who needs personal-defense-weapons, aye? People were losing business because of the relaxed post-war vibe. Maybe a friend did it to generate gun/hardware sales? BTW: I read you're comment, and that's pretty cool. Be cool, Josh.

Awe heck yeah! The boys in my neck of the woods! Born and raised in the area. We all knew this story. Yet, there’s so many buried and “forgotten” stories actually more scary than this. I lived through a couple. The Red River close by has many local horror stories. Down in Fulton Arkansas a teenage boy was pushed in front of a train, by his pissed off girlfriend, right at the entrance of the bridge that crosses the river. He pretty much exploded from the impact. It was considered by authorities to be an accident but all who seen it happen knew better and kept their mouths shut. Just whispers. It’s who you know in that town. Pieces of him were left behind and local kids would bring friends to show off the decaying flesh and pieces of bloody clothes. I was around 10 or so. Back in the 90s.

Really cool to see you guys making another video together and visiting this particular town. The film that was inspired by the true events is very good, though of course did have liberties taken with it. I’ve never been through Texarkana before, but I do know people who have been through there and they’ve said just by passing through it was both nice, yet there’s also a bit of an off putting vibe to it. I grew up in a little town straight south of Texarkana (Marshall, TX) I remember going to the drive in when I was about 7-8 years old (and I am well into my 50’s now) and watching “The Town That Dreaded Sundown”. Been mildly obsessed with this case for a long time now after I found out about it doing research into crimes like this in my home state. Even used the Youell Swinney name as a band name and now my screen name because I'm lazy. There's a documentary about this called Murder in the Moonlight that even used some of my music, which still blows my mind.
And before anyone gets angry with me, I didn't use the name because I think murderers are cool. I just thought it was a bizarre name.

You guys team up really well. I remember the movie The Town That Dreaded Sundown. But only you two could make it seem real. Appreciate as always, the time, research you guys put into these videos. Looking forward to more collaborations between the two of you.
