i've traveled with my cat on planes a couple times cross country, so here are my tips: 1. consider getting a sedative for your cats from your vet. it's less stressful for both parties if they're sleepy. 2. make sure your carriers fit airplane regulations! not sure if it's different for first class, but i had to get a new carrier for my cat so he could fit under the seat. also i would start leaving out their carriers now and encourage them to get inside and play or take naps. they'll start to see it as a safe space so it'll lessen their stress once they're traveling. 3. check out feliway, it's like this hormone spray you use in the carrier to help to relax your cat. 4. bring some food and a container for water. they might be too stressed to eat or drink but it wouldn't hurt! 5. pee pads. good luck!
I second feliway, but test it with them with like a towel. It doesn’t affect some cats, other cats love it, and I had one cat who it encouraged to pee on things that had been sprayed with it
another tip, especially if you have a cat that's prone to making a run for it while you're holding them - when you get to security check, request the private room. that way, you can bring your cat carrier with you into the cubicle and you and the cat and both get checked without any risk of them escaping into the rest of the airport. it also makes it easier to put the cat back into the carrier if that's something you struggle with.
I just took two ~12 hr flights with my cats. My tips are: 1. Get them used to driving around (it’ll make turbulence feel tolerable for them if there is any) 2. If they aren’t used to sleeping inside cat houses, then the cat kennel will feel like a cage to them. Try to put their favorite blanket or plushie in their kennel and make it feel like a home.
Sedatives, and test them a few days before... because each cat will react differently unfortunately ....one of ours slept, the other acted insane and bit me (pierced through my thumb meat completely) through the cloth carrier
just started watching the vlog, but i wanted to say that hearing music from the Hotel Dusk game out in the wild was a very pleasant surprise and a nice trip down memory lane 😂 okay back to watching your vlog
Good luck with the big move!! I'm sure Rover and Cosmo will be good kitties on the plane (super brave!) I'm also so inspired when I see you packing, it makes me want to try out creating things and selling them!! 😤⭐
If you didn’t - add a squeeze of lemon or a dash of acv to your pesto and add a finishing salt. It usually gives that one taste note people miss. 🤌🏾 delish 😂 Love your vids. Thanks for sharing.
That congee looks dope. Using the leftover rice is a genius move - I always start from uncooked rice and it takes sooooo long. As always, love your vlogs :D
I have the same pet carrier. It’s very sturdy however not great on shoulder strap for long walking as it clips on opposing sides; so just be aware of that factor.
ohhhh that makes sense. I thought the strap was kind of funny! I saw that you can slide it onto your luggage so maybe we'll use that while going through the airport before security :)
Cat travel (USA based at least, I used to travel via airline between two states when I went to uni and my kibby is my ESA so she had to come): >Feliway! It's a cat scent hormone that can help de-stress >I do NOT recommend a sedative, because if there's an issue w/ the cat overdosing, you can't do shit until you're back on the ground. They're not gonna stop the plain for your cat. >Make sure your carrier is sized right, or at least close. And remember that once I was told I needed like a ridiculous sized carrier like 10x6 inches. These carriers do not exist!! There is not a single carrier that will carry a cat safely at the size they asked of me!! So if the airline is demanding a carrier size that literally doesn't exist, ITS FINE. Just make sure your carrier is soft shell and it'll fit w/ plenty of space!! >The security WILL ask you to take the cat out of the carrier and scoot your way through the metal detector, and then they will ask to see your hands WHILE you have the cat in them. You will need to kinda hold the cat w/ one arm, show them your palm, they take a sample w/ swabs, and then repeat w/ the other size. The security officer will most likely be afraid of your cat biting them! This is normal, just keep a firm grip on your cat. >It's 99% a personality thing if your cat is gonna be chatty during the flight or not. My baby is super super quiet. She sleeps the whole flight. Her first flight she peed herself when the plane took off so put down a peepad + bring backup if you have time to replace it at a layover! >Good chance that your cat wont eat or drink during the flight (personality thing so its a 50/50) my baby doesnt eat, drink, or bathroom any time we travel, but does so once we're at the hotel/final stop. >Leaving the carrier out so they don't get stressed works! Unless they're smart enough to know what the carrier means! My baby runs and hides if she so much as sees the carrier which is a nightmare if we need to leave for a plain in a few hours.
@@MeganWangart Oh also, fee for pets, aaaand you have to call ahead of time to let them know you've got pets! Most big flight companies have a text line now tho and I suggest using that cause they just ask for species, coloration and carrier size.
When you said it was ridiculous that you had to cancel your lease 2 months in advance i was kind of shocked because in germany it's mandated by law that you do so 3 months in advance (to give your landlord a chance to find someone else for the flat etc) To me that was totally fine, but also in germany you can't really get kicked out of your flat for similar reasons :'))) It's funny how I just assume things are normal from what I know 😭
oh wow! the ridiculousness I was referring to wasn't so much giving them notice - but how we would pay the rent for every month it stays empty! but yeah it's so interesting how different countries have different renting policies. I've heard in Canada they have a policy where you don't need to pay double the rent when you're in between moving apartments!! how nice T_T
@@MeganWangart wait??? so if they don't find someone to rent after two months you will continue to pay??? IS THAT RIGHT?? THAT IS LEGAL???? if that's so then my brain COMPLETELY shut out the possibility for that interpretation because???? WHAT?
