I'm working at ZF in germany, manufacturing airbag generators. I have a few colleagues who are sick for months at a time. So heres the reason, most firms don't want to go through the severance pay so the man just goes sick as much as possible. When leaving a firm you either do this, or you will need a lawyer to fight for the severance pay. Besides this the whole germany industry is old fashioned and arbitrary, very bad nonsense management with only short term plans.Quality has also left the chatroom for at least a decade now. The government is taxing in so many ways its ludicrous. I live and work in germany for 4 years now, but I plan to just opt out and return to my own country like many foreigners will. When that happens, germany will be left standing with its finger up it's ass.

I recognize the hardships that come with economic struggles like unemployment, job loss, inflation, housing market instability, political uncertainties, and the global impact of conflicts and wars. Making ends meet during such times can be incredibly challenging. To navigate this difficult period, considering alternative job prospects, enhancing skills through online courses, and expanding your network can heighten the chances of securing employment. Moreover, prudent budgeting, exploring available financial aid programs, and seeking assistance from community organizations can offer some relief. How are you currently tackling these challenges? Have you implemented any specific strategies to cope?

The issue is the cars aren't selling. It is not that the unions exist. The problem is management has decided to make the wrong cars and we all know what that was about.

This is history repeating itself. In the 1960's it was the British car industry that crumbled through high labor costs, inefficient and out dated plants and a long term lack of investment into development. Japan came along with low labor costs, all new plant and a need to develop. At the same time the European particularly German industry got far more involved in the main stream market instead of solely the top end. Now we are seeing the perfect, a major technology change and a new and very aggressive player in the market. China have a number of advantages such as low labor cost, a fiercely loyal home market and a drive to innovate. They have one other critical advantage, no history in the industry. They have not been a long term manufacture in the ICE market and dont have a huge investment in that technology or the extensive and complicated supply chain that it requires which means that they can focus on the new technology without having to support the ICE market as a result the German and Japanese industries will go the same way as the British industry did, largely for the same reasons.

    • @nox5555

Agree with the zero sum game. With Chinese brands willing to make a loss on low cost manufacturing there is no way legacy brands paying European workers can compete without protection from the government. Australia is very fortunate we don't manufacture cars. It means no tarrifs and so we get to enjoy affordable good quality EVs. I picked up a new MG4 essence for AUD$38K , that's USD$24k.

    Key points about this idea:
    Interpretation:
This signifies that significant change often requires breaking down existing structures or ways of thinking to build something better in their place.
    Application:
This idea can be applied to various situations, from personal growth to societal reform, where radical change might necessitate letting go of old patterns.

Many problems can be attributed to the saleman heading companies and, the take over of boards by the MBA crowd who have been taught that profit is the only goal, every quarter must see improvement which means personal bonuses. MBAs & salesman bosses have killed the german industry & greed of coarse.

5:10 thats due to burocratic overhead and thats the type of people they are usually attracting and hiring. Even in IT they hired 3000 people and have nothing to show for it.

I think that the same thing is happening all over the world, not
all the employees fault, as you have pointed out many companies
in China are going bankrupt also Japanese and U S ones are on the
brink of falling. AI bots and automation have a hand in the disarray!

From America, my wife and I had an American made dish washer, but decided this time a year ago to buy a Bosch, well Germans may make great windshield wiper blades, brakes, etc., but we used it twice, it stinks after use, is is not a practical design for loading dishes, cups, etc., and the stainless steel stays wet for many days, so something is wrong with this German design. We most likely will give it away, (still used twice) and buy an American made design again. Sorry Germany, but something is going wrong with your industry production. Best figure it out soon!

Bosch is just Trash. you should buy Miele.

Most of the US Bosch machines are made in the US, not Germany. Like the other guy said....buy a Miele.

@@johnstone7697 We have a Bosch and a service call cost us $530(pump leak). I believe the thing was assembled in Mexico and many of the parts that went bad on a 2001 BMW E-46 we had were Mexican(electrical components). Once you have owned a German car, you don't buy another one. I should have known better as my salesman drove an Oldsmobile and the mechanics all drove Japanese and American cars. Meile is not available in the States.

Instead of attacking labor rights in Germany, we should think about expanding worker rights in China and Mexico
