- DAG talks about his quarantine outfit, staying home, being in a bubble with his family, losing weight on the Jenny Craig diet, cast-members on “In Living Color” playing pranks on him, playing Jamie Foxx’s father on their new Netflix show “Dad Stop Embarrassing Me,” meeting Jamie for the first time, and Jimmy’s parents coming to his shows and feeding him leftovers.

David is hilarious, but not enough people give him credit for his dramatic roles. He’s just all-around amazing.
TRUE!
I always loved him on tv he makes me laugh every single time. He is truly underrated
Very funny in 3 Strikes.
Facts
Ditto
Been a fan for 25 years and I’m only 36 lol. In living color was the best and I’m glad he and Jamie reconnected. Also I almost spit out my water when he said he wanted to get back to his birth weight 🤣🤣
I’ll be 40 in may and I agree ☝️
😂😂😂
Indeed my friend I’m 33 I feel the same
Still so funny. All those In Living Color guys are just killer comics.
So much talent came out of that show. Miss that era.
So true Tommy Davidson, Jim Carey Kim wayans...and ofcourse David...
@@petertownsend2255 ALL of the Wayans clan, really. The talent in that family is immeasurable! I'm actually rewatching The Wayans Brothers on HBO Max and appreciating their humor even more than before. Hilarious! That show was stacked!
I liked how Jamie Foxx put it, he said he was the funniest guy he ever knew until he showed up on In living color and he had an uh-ohh moment and suddenly he went from the funniest to the 8th funniest in the room.
I wouldn't have put him 8th lol but it's nice to see he recognized the level of talent that he got to work with
Jim Carrey is NOT funny. I'm Canadian and even I can say that. You see 1 Jim Carrey movie than you seen them all
Still the funniest man around. The DAG is grossly underappreciated. You never know what's real sometimes.
As a 90's kid he's always the hilarious cop on Jumanji
Damn! He was the guy that was a sneaker designer.
Thank you
Absolutely
First thing I thought of ...then your comment first one I read. Love this guy!
I USED TO BE ON THE FLOOR DURING THE ALLIGATOR SCENE 😂🤣🤣
I was mostly a teen in the 90's so I remember him as one of the funniest cast members on "In Living Colour"
True comic. He doesnt say fun things. He says things funny 🤣
love this!
I laughed, LONGER and HARDER, watching DAG'S interview by Kimmel than a lot of comedians SET!!!!
This man is a legit hero. If you don't know, you don't matter.
David looking like a Black Santa who just played basketball for the first time
😅
Lmao
Love this man.
That isn't a statement, it's an order!
A natural David Allan Grier Legendary pure talent they don't make em like that anymore
I appreciate DAG so much more as an adult than I did when I was kid! Non-stop laughter at him on Martin! I love the episode at his church when he was marching down the aisle and singing "I've Got a Feeling"! I love when he cracks during that scene! It's pure gold!
Didn’t he moonwalk as well
@@tproctor332 Yep! 😄
Love that episode. Cabbage patching up in church. Hahaha!!!
He’s starting to look like a Black David Letterman.
He looks like a really tan David Cross in this interview.
😂😂😂
Uncle Phil
😂
He’s so handsome! Aging very well. Love his personality!
seriously???
@@Michelle-pn9xt seriously. He’s very handsome!
He IS handsome. I was thinking that watching him.
@@StrongnBeautiful - Yes! I was thinking that watching him, too. 😊
“I wrote a song about it wanna hear it? Here it goes... aaaaaaaaahaaaaaaaan!!!!” 😂😂😂 If you a real fan you know 😉
Hahahahaha...yep
The funniest thimg ever!!😁😆
2:13 The Mrs. Kravitz reference was fun!
Absolute national treasure and wonderful human.
My favorite character by him is the blind bluesman on In Living Color.
Got a new song!
Like to hear it?
Here it go! 🤣
BTW he brings that character on his new sitcom w/Jammie fox ***spoiler alert*****
Thank you very muuuch!
He did a skit pretending to be Maya Angelou and every time I saw her after I thought of him😂😂😂😂
Yesssss!!!!
David’s sketch of the singing man “Calhoun Tubbs” on In Living Color was nothing less than fantastically funny as hell!
I see a 'Black Santa" comedy movie in the works! I SEE you DAG!
I really wish they didn't cancel "The Cool Kid's" with him and Vicki Lawrence. I loved that show.
Me too!
I really thought that show was funny !! The cast was good together.
Me too! Hated when they canceled it!
I think that show would’ve fared better on a streaming platform, as opposed to network television.
David is amazing very witty OG✊🏿
Omg! When he said “she brought you fried chicken?” He said “no she know better” I died!!! 🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂 she woke!
One of those talk show guests to have on even if they aren’t pushing a show.
I wanna get back to my birth weight 🤣💀
Genius!!!
I love this guy. I hope he wins the Tony for A Solider's Play
My god it’s so good to see Dave and Alan Grier he needs to come out of his bunker more often
“Jimbo” is taking me out 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Jimmy is really trying not to crack up too hard. So funny with David.
David's done the road longer than 25 years. I saw him in the early 1990's at UT Arlington. One of the funniest comedy shows ever.
I'm glad he shared some of the things people go through in Hollywood. He needs to eat....he'll be funny either way
God I love DAG!! He’s so damn funny!! 😂
I'd love to see him reprise Calhoun Tibbs again lol
Loved him in the Carmichael show this show looks very disney channel vibes tho
Lol! “I want to get back to my birth weight.” - DAG
I love him from Martin show. Man he was funny on that show and it looked like he was having fun too doing it
HILARIOUS per usual. I want Tommy Davidson to be an obnoxious friend on their new sitcom. It’s HIGH-Larious!!! Support it on Netflix.
Calhoun Tubbs looks like he's wearing all of his father's day gifts at once !!!
Ha! 🥲
He was flat out spectacular in Tales from the Hood!
Reverend Leon Loni Love?
I'm watching it right now Martin episode 27 season 1 lmbo
"I wanna get back to my birth weight." I may never recover
One of the funniest men to ever be on set
David, the legend that everyone should know about. ✊🏿
Lol he's only 11 yrs older than Jamie. But I find it awesome that they could pull off a father & son combo.
DAG is so wonderfully talented
The beard is awesome! Works for him well.
David is looking good!! Go zaddy..😁😉❤
Just finished the series "Dad stop embarrassing me" ngl David's probably the funniest one on the show😂😂 great first season!!👌🏾
I enjoyed him talking about his relationship with Jimmy's parents and Aunt Chippy.
Boy, Jimmy’s introduction was no joke; DAG is da funniest!
I love David Alan Grier I just hate his show was canceled New Kids on the Block I look forward to that every Friday cuz I laughed so much to almost wet myself always loved his comedy anyway love love love love
Oh one the BEST GUEST on MARTINNNNNNNNN AHHHHH HOW YALL DOING thank you very muyuch!
I'm back due to the Patient
Mr. Grier is also a theatre trained/seasoned actor. He portrayed Malcolm X in the stage version of 'When The Chickens Come Home To Roost'. I'm sure that was the productions name. I saw it in the early '80's on PBS.
That is right. He is a classic trained actor. Super talented
Now I know where some of Tracey Morgan's brilliance comes from.
“I wanna get back to my birth weight” 😂🤣🤣 I felt that!!!
What the problem is... I wrote a song about it would you like to hear it here it goes 🤣
For David Alan Grier's age, he has great youthful skin!!! Has to be from growing up drinking that finest water in Detroitr!!! *no joke! Im in my 40s and have no gray hairs yet!
I was just looking at his skin
Popped in to take in the first few minutes but he's still too fun to not finish watching being interviewed lol.
I love ❤️ In Living Color, just as funny today as it was when it came out
I think it's funny that David Alan Grier (1956) is now playing Jamie Foxx's (1967) Dad, with only 11 years age difference between them. When back in 1992 in the Eddie Murphy (1961) movie 'Boomerang', John Witherspoon (1942-2019) played David's Dad, and John was only 14 years older than David. Those two were so wonderfully cringe worthy in their roles as Father & Son. 👌🏻
Iconic👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 David Allen is funny in everything he does!!! I mean everything!
I wanna get back to my birth weight. LOL
Wow DAG, Wow..
You are as they say,
brilliant.
He is just so funny!!! And can play any part/ character!!!
"im gonna shave my beard lose 60 or 70 lbs. I wanna get down to my birth weight" LoL we need a In Living Color movie.
David Alan Grier... hilarious dude! Def gotta check out this show.
David's adorable. A true Renaissance man who can wear whatever he wants because his abundance in every area is apparent...and that's not a weight joke! He looks fantastic. Love him.
🇬🇧 We have SO much Love for 🎭 Mr D.Alan-Grier SO much 😎⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ He is a Global Icon 🌍
Wow, for 64, he's going on 54 it seems. He ages really well.
That was the funniest interview!
So underrated...people never mention his name in the African American comedian list but he's that kind of funny you KNOW ur gonna laugh hard( which makes his role kn Jamie's foxxs new show, perfect cause Jamie is same way and they have history together).
He looks like a black Santa Claus with that beard.
His Living Color sketch of Men on Film with Damon Wayans is still one of the funniest things on TV!
Him saying Jimbo just made me laugh so hard. This man is just comedy 🤣
I never thought about this. When you have a famous member in your family, you get to meet all of their famous friends and associates.
I love the fact jimmy6love the shows and comics I grew up on..I was proud of him when he did the Jefferson's all in the family and good times live...
On of my favorites! So underrated!!
CAN I FINISH WHAT IM SAYING!!! 😂
If you follow him on ig you know he doesn't do Jenny, he's a good cook I wish I could taste what he cooks.
I gained 45 this last year.
I was smiling through this whole thing...DAG is great.
The guy *now* looks like Philip Banks of Fresh Prince.
How
I love him on In Living Color, loved him as Rev Lonnie Love and the father on the Carmichael Show. I hope this show turns into a hit.
At 1:33 when he said "Just one nut is vaccinated. The other one is jealous. But I digress....you know Jimbo....". LOL. David is hilarious. He was gold on In Living Color. Still miss that theme song. RIP Heavy D.
The funniest part is then talking about his parents 😂
Birth Weight 🤣🤣🤣
Love the beard!
Can’t wait to see the show!
Thank You DAG Thank You
I've missed this guy💜
Always loved David Alan Grier. He still got it. 🤣🤣
I give this interview 2 snaps in a circle
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Classic DAG , his interviews are always hilarious. Cant wait to see the new show.
I like that "I just finished my basketball practice" vibe
I laughed everytime they zoomed out and I got to see David's leopard shorts, white sneakers and black socks. And then his line at the end, "I wanna get back to my birth weight," killed me. 🤣🤣🤣
Jamie Fox looks older than David. He’s literally only 10-11 years older, lol
I came here to say the same thing
What are you drinking? He looks much older than Jamie. That is the reason he is playing his dad.
@@Michelle-pn9xt Why because of his beard? Only thing that looks old on that face.
@J B Show me Jamie without his wig, without makeup and without his gap filler. And you tell me where he looks younger.
@J B lol I work in film aswell. You’re lengthy reply doesn’t make your opinion better than anyone else’s. That’s why they are opinions. I could careless who agrees with me, I see what I see. And he’s wearing a hair piece not a transplant. I can defer you to my father who does hair transplants for a living if you’d like another “opinion”. Jamie could pass for late 40s and so could David if he shaved his beard and lost a little weight.
I loved DAG on the "Life With Bonnie" show. That show had some great writing, and great actors on it. It was fun to watch.
It feels awesome to see him and the other In Living Color cast. Takes me back to the 90's! I gotta see that new show for sure.
"Gotta song for you, like to hear it, here it go." 🤣🤣🤣
Love David!
JIMMY kimmel I love you man you are the best of the best person I know ❤♥ 💖 💕 ❤ 💜 🙌👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
YES.............At this point, Jimmy and I, have been involved for years........ COMICALLY!!
So underrated. His stand ups are too hilarious.
