I love how you show the detail of all the lockers when giving a tour. So many other RUclips tours just quickly flip open and close one or two lockers. Your style gives a far better understanding and appreciation of the boat. Thank you.
Thank you for answering my question with such a detailed video. That liferaft locker is perfectly placed. And the gas locker are far from the living area, which is very nice.
Hello, thanks for your videos in detail. Will you be making some videos showing the tender boat lifting mechanizm. Please also will you inform how you load heavy items in to the bulk head.
Hi Tayyar. Other than asking Garcia sales staff directly, the best place for questions on the Exploration 45 could be right here. Have a read of the comments and replies under each video; there’s a lot of info available now.
I never noticed that Snow Gum was registered to Sydney, we’ve seen a lot of videos about Snow Gum and for sure still want to see a lot of them, but why don’t you present to us a bit more? At this point if you’re likely to do so it would be nice to know Rick and Carolyn, what’s been your sailing past and what are your projects/dreams for the future. If this is ok for it will be much appreciated to sit in the cockpit with you and know you a bit more. ;-)
This is a very interesting comment Roberto. Our idea has been to show the boat rather than our travels. ‘More place. Less face!’, was a great comment I saw once on another sailing channel, where there was just too much selfie shooting and long talks to the camera. But, your point makes sense, because our backstories are relevant to our choice of this yacht vs the others we considered. We both had long careers in selecting, buying, maintaining and optimising fleets of military platforms. We used that experience to identify the best boat to buy, with our own money this time. Perhaps we’ll make a video on how we got here. That could indeed be worth doing. Thumbs up if interested! Down if you’d rather clean your bilges.
That’s the point Rick, and only by reading the anticipation for sure it will be worth to discover a bit more about you and Carolyn and what you’re dreaming for the future with Snow Gum. Other than this I also think that once you start to hear a voice and see a face it’s nice to discover people, there’s always something to learn and listen from people, and if you will want to carry us with you in your videos in your adventure I’ll keep following, both for the interest in the boat and also for getting affectionate to you. Have a good day! 👍
Rick, good job. The goodies just keep coming. Does the propane/butane locker have an "exhaust" port since they are heavier than air and will collect in the bottom of the locker if a leak? And did you have to add the strap to hold the tank or was it supplied?
Hi Kent. Yes, there’s a bottom vent in case of propane leakage. We asked Garcia to install a Nereus alarm panel in the galley, which has three sensors connected. A propane sensor in the gas locker and another under the cooker, then a carbon monoxide sensor in the middle of the galley. This Nereus panel also provides a remote control for a gas shutoff solenoid at the gas bottle. Everything you see in the locker was supplied by Garcia. One minor grumble - we were expecting to get a propane bottle but Garcia installed a butane bottle. I think the main reason for this is that butane is the safer option when there’s still work being done on the boat. There’s no difference in terms of cooking, but for refilling in far flung places, propane will be easier. Propane will also work in sub zero temperatures. We plan to have two 13kg propane bottles for our adventures. Should last a couple of years, given we use electricity for as much cooking as possible.
I wonder why Garcia designed the lockers by the wheel seat with an amarada side opening instead of a top opening (lifting the seat). It would be easier to move things in and out, and less chance of water intrusion in case of water in the cockpit.
Ooo, I want the answer to this question too. It better be a good one. Getting into those lockers is enough to put your back out! What you didn’t see was my attempt to film and measure at the same time. Impossible.
@@SailingSnowGum Rick, climbing mast and getting down on your knees and back up from those hatches. It's all about exercise for old guys. haha. The GE52 has top loading on starboard, but I've never seen it from the port side. I believe it's due to the way access is from berth to steering gear and on the GE45 you are going from the equipment room.
@@kentwood2914 With the central bridge down the rear seats make a handy walkway to quickly get to the other side. It’s solid underfoot. This payoff is worthwhile; I wouldn’t be thrilled with anything that felt like it was flexing. The cockpit locker lid is good in this respect - really solid. It should have something to stop it falling closed on some poor souls skull though.

You are most welcome Stephen. It’s handy for us too - having a video record of various measurements - even though we didn’t plan it that way. 🙂

perfect videos. I wish Best cruises and explorations all over the world. Where is the best media to ask questions about Garcia Exploration 45

Let us add top loading as a must-have for version 3.0 . What is under the locker should not constraint top opening.
