This record kicks serious ass. Oz is astonishing. Absolutely burning on the uptempo stuff…Sunny!? Cmon. Best version since pat martino’s Live! The ‘74 version not the yoshis one.
The older I get the more problems I have with the guitar in jazz. So often it’s just not a nice sound. And before the abuse starts I have been a jazz guitar player for a long lifetime. It’s not unusual for jazz musicians to avoid guitar players for various reasons and sadly I’m starting to agree with them.
Don't like the guitarsound that much. The trebly tone of the gretch doesn't blend well dinamicly with the rest of the band, at least in the solo... Julian lage has a simular sound, when he plays straight ahead, but he's more expressiv and has more texture and dynamics in his tone, that he uses as a tool, to interact with the band... Nothing against Oz Noy though, I think he's great with the Rock/fusion stuff, but Bebop? I don't know...
@@leoosiku Of course OZ has great Bebop Chops XD Don't confuse my statement, you don't know what your'e talking about... I said, I just don't dig the Guitarsound that much in this setting. Straight Ahead Bebop/traditionell music is different from fusion. It's maybe a Personal thing, but Everyone can have his opinion. I compared Julian with Oz, because I hear simularities in the Tone and the Sound, but to me, Julian sounds better, when he plays traditionell, because it's more his thing. Oz, on the other hand, usually doesn't play that much traditionell or Bebop. I think, A schooled listener, like myself can simply hear the difference. But I don't want to put down Oz in any way, with that Statement, because I very much like his other work, that he did.
Good job with Gretsch!
How original and creative I’ve never heard anyone swing this straight up wowwwww
Check out Julian Lage!

Oz has huge bebob chops. Why compare. Oz is Oz Julian is Julian. You want great, great bebop guitar…..Pasquale Grasso.
