In this video, I do a walkthrough of the export capability in Scrintal and Heptabase and provide my feedback. Heptabase empowers you to visually make sense of your learning, research, and projects. Scrintal is an easy-to-use digital canvas to convert your creative ideas into structured knowledge. These tools can assist you in building a visual and connected personal knowledge management system.

Antone, you always do a thorough job without bias. That is admirable, not to mention rare.

As someone that changes his "Second Brain" / PKM app quite frequently this is SUCH important information. Thanks so so much for highlighting this with such amazing detail!!

    Hey Antone-! 🙌
First off, huge shoutout for creating that feature request about improving export file names! You're totally on point with suggesting the "title-hash" format instead of the random letters and numbers thing. 🎯 It would make life *so* much easier when organizing files after exporting.
And wow, it looks like you're not alone-plenty of people are chiming in on this. David Slattery made a solid point too-he wants a full export that includes **all** attachments and images, not just markdown text. 📎 And I totally agree, for Scrintal to really shine for business use or syncing with tools like Obsidian, the export functionality needs a little extra love.
Seems like the Scrintal team is on it, though! They're planning to roll out improvements after the new canvas experience this fall 🍂, which could make exporting and integrations a whole lot smoother. 🎉
Oh, and thank you again for making the feature request-super cool of you to kick things off! Let’s rally the community and upvote this thing! 💪 Would love to see it happen!
    Catch you around! ✌

It seems there's strong community support for improving the export functionality in Scrintal. Key points mentioned include:
File Naming: A more informative naming convention for exported files, such as using the "title-hash" format instead of just random numbers and letters. This would make it easier to organize and understand exported files.
Full Data Export: Users want exports to include all attachments, images, and metadata, not just the text in markdown format. This would make it easier to transfer data to other tools like Obsidian or produce professional reports.
Business Use: Some users, like David Slattery, are looking for features that allow them to transfer data for business reporting purposes. Heptabase, Capacities, and Obsidian offer more comprehensive export options, which Scrintal users would like to see implemented.
Future Plans: Scrintal has acknowledged these issues and is planning to focus on improving the export and integration features after the release of the new canvas experience in the autumn.
If you'd like to gather more votes and comments on the feature request you created, sharing it on the Slack community or with fellow users might help. It looks like a solid case is being built for prioritizing better export functionality!

Thanks, Antone! Nice content. I would like to ask you: from a usability perspective, which one wins for you and why? I know that Heptabase is way more feature rich but for you it is also more usable and user friendly?

So they're both usable, but I tend to look beyond usability. I'd choose Heptabase over Scrintal if I had to choose just one. I have other videos that will cover some of the different areas that determined my choice (export, versioning, sharing, mobile ux, and board features and functionality) but Heptabase won out in each of these areas except for mobile ux which is good enough but could be better on tablet devices. And Heptabase is just as user-friendly and easy to use as Scrintal. Security is an obvious factor but it's hard to completely show that.
