Hmm I think we might have to wait and see how each version ends up getting used the most. I might imagine text+ will stay useful in relatively quick or simple effects. SText does require that extra renderer which might be clunky for some people. And the difference in coordinate system so if you need text interacting with other elements that might be easier with text+
Hi Patrick any thoughts on ways to present text / graphics that changes as the video progresses, Show text/graphic then hide when a score changes or milestone is reached, or clock reaches the minute mark etc. Is it possible to use expressions to change the text?
How did I miss that 18.5 made it so that you don't need an sRender for previewing anymore?? I think I've been doing it still out of habit and never noticed...
This is a welcomed new feature, but I still think Blackmagic needs to completely revamp how even basic text is done on the edit page. That's probably the one feature I still miss from my Premiere days is the essential graphics panel and how easy it was to work with basic text and shapes. I'd also like to see Blackmagic enable the conversion of text into shapes like After Effects does.
I enjoy watching your videos, but I've been experiencing an issue with the plug-in Proto V2. I'm unable to apply it on Fusion, as the assets don't show up. Is there anything specific that needs to be done to resolve this?
Well dang, now you want me to play with rendering shapes. And it wasn't necessarily the text stuff that got me. It was when you zoomed in and everything remained crisp. Now I want to play around and get to know that system better.
Are you talking about using the "time" variable in a Fusion expression? That actually returns the current frame within the Fusion comp, not the actual time in the timeline. For the time on the timeline (within the Fusion comp) you right click the Text and select TimeCode. Because that's not confusing.
As much as I enjoy using da Vinci resolve, I am extremely disappointed that this newest version hasn't included the kind of complex abilities of text animation that after effects includes in the basic package. Yes there are lots of pre-build stuff on the market, but when a client wants a complex custom text animation resolve doesn't even come close to being able to do what you can do in after effects.
This is complete un-true…outside of AE specific plug-ins, you are able to do all of the same things in Fusion. The problem is know one really teaches the proper way on translating the AE layer based approach into the node based tool system. So people give up on Fusion because they believe the layer based system is the only way. The only advantage as of now that AE has over Resolve/Fusion is the plugin ecosystem. Show me a AE animation sans plugins and I will recreate it for you in Fusion easily…
There is nothing you can do in AE that you can't do in Fusion. Actually, the opposite might be true. Don't let the pre-build stuff fool you. This is just a reflection of the huge Adobe user base existing before Davinci Resolve came to ruin the party. The larger the Resolve user base gets the more prebuild goodies you will see.
The way your explaining this is just awful. Watch it played back in a week and see if this makes any sense to you. Or maybe you know it so well you just think you’re explaining it well. But you’re not.
It’s so easy not to be a douchebag when it comes to offering criticism to a RUclipsr and yet here you are sounding like a complete douchebag. The amount of people who lose all sense of civility when commenting online is incredible. How did your parents raise you? Did they talk to people the way you do or were they polite and constructive? I would love to see your RUclips channel and videos.
Da Vinci Resolve creators are having second Christmass now, i can see the spark in the eyes.
Your enthusiasm - even purely for the math involved in the "expressions" bit - is awesome!
3:23 a way of including a green screen with the actualy shadows and dimensions present while recording with green screen
10:35 What's that brother 🤣
Awesome, waiting more about sShape system❤️🔥
Great video! exciting new features for sure
Question. If stext is superior (and i see the advantages) why not have all text be stext? Why have non-stext?

@@PatrickStirling OK. Thoughtful reply. Thanks.
You are cranking these out today!
I love how the BSpline tool phrase broke your brain 😂

Yeah that was a sneaky little update in there. Suuuuper useful

Still on 18 beta I really gotta update
And is it available in the free version too?
Hi sir my question (After Resolve update, activation is required, Resolve will not run without the key.) What is the answer
Were you on the free version before? Make sure you download the right version this time!

there's a ton of power there for sure.
In the new sText node, is there character level styling?
Of course
Unrelated but do you a way to display 'frame number/count' instead of time in the timeline? In Premiere, it's pretty straight forward.

@@Nob1ej0n No, I'm refering to the Edit timeline. Instead of time I want to see the frame count up till the timeline bar.
Loving the new features but this is still AE work for me.

@@PatrickStirling I'd love to show you but since comments do not accept links or allow me to display images I don't know how that is even possible.

This is great. You mentioned word by word with the follower. Was that updated in 19?
It's a little complicated but I should have a video on it tomorrow! And a free little title pack to show it off!
your audio isnt the usual high quality man, did you change mics?
very interesting
What's about a silent keyboard Patrick? 😂
bring the microphone closer so the voice doent sound so boxy
MASTER
Cool!
All I want is text wrap. How does this not work in DaVinci after so long????
