Killing Weeds And Hoping For Rain! Spraying Oats/Corn Check
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 20 окт 2024
- We received two-tenths of an inch of rain the other day on the dairy farm. Alan seized the opportunity from the moisture to get the oats sprayed. Drought can make spraying weeds very stressful on the plants, so Alan was hoping for a small bit of rain to help prevent any more stress on the oats than necessary. The 820 John Deere and Clark sprayer are put to work with a broad-leaf herbicide. Alan does a quick recap of how the oats and corn are looking despite the dry conditions. Lastly, we do a family update with Jordan receiving his First Communion and Leonard working the Draft Horses to get them in shape for raking hay.

We milk a mix of 33 Jersey, Holstein, Brown Swiss, Guernsey, and Ayrshire cattle. We also enjoy sharing our family's love of Draft Horses and using them for logging and other farm work. Dairy Farming in Minnesota can be challenging, but it's a lifestyle we really enjoy. Subscribe today to watch our small family dairy farm and family grow while continuing to thank our Lord for the blessings we've been given.
Congratulations, and God’s blessings on Jordan! Thank you for sharing that, Alan. Our God is great. 🙏🏻
Oats are a strong crop they always produce. Cows love the feed.
Nice to see you got sone spraying done. Prayers for good rain with no bad weather. Congratulations Jordan.
Your Deere 820 earns it's keep!!! Hope you're blessed with more timely rains. Congratulations to Jordan on his First Communion.
Congratulations Jordan!
Seems most of northern Iowa received rain Saturday into Sunday, followed by strong gusty winds and scattered rain showers. Heavy rains.
Rain stopped long enough Saturday afternoon for my nephew's outdoor wedding ceremony.
I'm spending s day at the Tomah Pull. Really nice to have you along.... At least on my phone. Looking for rain this weekend.
Congratulations on first Holy Holy Communion. Deo Gratias!
Congratulations Jordan!
Good video. Your right, doesn’t pay to complain, it’s just a wasted breath.
God bless you Jordan on your First Holy Communion!🙏
Your getting just like Cole the Cornstar with their tractor auto steer. 😉👍
Lol! Al the dairy star
Was watching radar this afternoon and saw you guys were getting some rain. I was glad! --blessings
Hi Alan, God bless Jordan on his first communion. Alawys a bonus seen Mr. Leonard with the horses, they look so gracious in the tall hay. Mother nature sometimes....I remember few months ago you had major flooding, now so dry.
Thanks for another great video, enjoyed as always. Btw what is that he's pulling with the horse?
It's Friday evening, looks like you finally got some rain up there, hoping you get some more rain this weekend.
Yes, and it's coming down nice and easy right now. Hopefully, we get a good amount!
Congratulations Jordan and another great video. :). Hoping you get some rain soon.
Odlično uradjen posao, ja još malo 39g 🙂 otac ti je šampion. Ne odustaje od svois konja. 💪👍🙂🥇
Working the horses looked so peaceful God bless
Great video. It really nice to see a team of horses working in the field also.
Good little spraying setup you've got.
Congratulations to Jordan on first cuoimion
Beautiful church and Latin mass, congratulations and God Bless
thx from russia/ watching you grow corn
Excellent video!
Loved the kids rockin out to Tom Petty
Keep the faith Allen. Rain is in the forecast. Pretty dry here in Wisconsin too.
Looking good Alan
Nice spray rig and useful row tracker! I'm using winter rye as my weed control this year, testing several different methods with it (lower Michigan). I'm seeing positive comparisons and am refining new skills since I grew up with the same systems you're using... I'd encourage you to do some easy testing yourself: get two or three bags of winter rye and drill an acre early this September, but it works through mid October. Next spring run your corn and bean planters through the test plot (such as before cleaning out after planting your other fields) driving right through the green standing rye. When the crops emerge (even as late as V1) use a cultipacker to roll down the rye (best if timed after rye pollen stage so it stays flatter). ... I'm growing heirloom seed, no fertilizer nor chemicals, and no tillage (except when converting sod to field I have to plow the grass under, I've tried that both ways) using older and worse for the task equipment than you have -- so you should see some great results, easy.
I've seen this method. However, almost all of my corn ground is on rented land. The landowners do a year by year rental, so I could spend the money to put rye in, and next spring, they might choose not to let me rent it.
Very good and God bless y'all
Hope you got the rain, our corn did have a 50% emerge due to the dry spell we had, so bottomline is doesnt matter were you farm you have to have some luck, greetings from a Dutch dairyfarmer
I just love your barn reminds of ours ❤
I love your crops they look the very best reminds me of ours❤.
Sorry I missed the last video. Happy birthday 🎉
thank you
Very nice! Oats are struggling here too. We did get half inch on Wednesday. I hope you showed jen all those low guesses on your age.
There was quite a few higher ones too, lol!
We been very dry all spring on north east pa. Our hay sucked. Corn very uneven emergence we have been getting few showers lately. Had big rain week ago got 1.8 in. Good bit ran off. But crops looking better seems like whole country been dry
Great video!!!
Hi Alan, you should be wearing glasses when pouring in the chemicals, If you need rain, I will cut hay, this is the luck I usually have. Another great video, take care.👍
Good advice
Thank you for the review on the light bar.ive been waiting one. The trees at the end of the field don't always work
Hey Alan, remember when you kids stood with flags at the end of the field.
Yup, those half-inch pipes off the dump truck.
👀🙄🐾👍As always an interesting video A&J looks like Alan's had a hard life
Never did comment on your age. But that was my guess. Happy late birthday. Keep up the videos. Definitely enjoy them
Ahh the good old eye ommeter for measuring chemicals 🤣 it always takes an extra splash at the end.
Does the long term forecast indicate the dry lasting long?
All the best 👍
We're supposed to get rain from now through Monday, but so far it's been missing us.
Ah, to be 38 again. My sprayer was easy, 8 rows. Now it's 90 or 120ft depending which one comes
Yeah I would be really cool if you guys could afford some pivots I'm sure they're not cheap but they're well worth their money.
Except most of my fields are rented.
❤
Where is the Outback Guidance system manufactured? Just curious. Congratulations to Jordan on his First Holy Communion!
I'm not sure, but I'll find out.
They are based out of Hiawatha, Kansas. They also have locations in Canada and Australia.
@@trinitydairy I thought it was the same company. Hiawatha is my home town. I was pretty excited to see something from here being used on your channel. Thank you for taking the time to confirm that. Love your channel!
A foam marker for the sprayer is around 600 to 1300 depends on how nice of one!
Sorry . Small buttons. Communion. Really awsome for him and great feeling our Christ.
Yup I do the same thing all the time.
Hey Allen,,,how did you do with rain this last weekend? We got some down here. Hope it helps!!
I don't know the exact total, but it was over an inch.
I hope you get some more rain. We've had .6 tenths in the last 45 days. Starting to get really desperate around here. Oats are heading out at 6-10 inches tall, no 2nd crop hay, corn is withering. Not good.
We've had about the same, but getting some nice rain now.
👍👍
I was right! I guessed 38..
In your opinion did the lite bar work good?
Yes. I'd take it over foam markers
🥇🥇🥇🥇video
Enjoy your videos! What state are you in?
Minnesota
How much rain did you end up getting Friday?
My gauge showed 3 tenths.
Got almost an inch of rain this afternoon
So you really have hopes to get oats worth harvesting?
I hope so.
@@trinitydairy should tell you we live by Long prairie
Congratulations Jordan. Do you guys go to a Latin Mass?
Yes
@@trinitydairy That's wonderful!
👍👌❤️🇨🇦,
Alan shouldn't you have a respirator on while spraying since your using an open tractor? They are saying that chemical is so harmful to us humans. Best wishes, Deb
There was absolutely no wind, that spray went right down.
They only cause cancer is California.
So you are older then me...for a couple months 🤣 Ever have the pressure guage stick on the sprayer? Mine has electric controls and the guage stuck at the same time the regular valve had a bad connection🤬 I ran out less then half a pass from done, and hot out. You gotta love farming or it will make you crazy.
I haven't had that happen yet.
my guess put 5 years on you sorry
Don't feel bad,Some put 10 years on me.
Hey, Alan always enjoy watching your videos yes we need rain. Really dry here in northern Illinois
Your video is always entertaining to watch Al, your crops looks good, I kinda remember years ago when I was a kid that my neighbor sprayed our field with a sprayer like that, have you ever seen the kinds where they mount on the tractor and pickup? My cousin has one of them, he has a JD 4010 tractor that he always mounted a sprayer and and old Ford 3/4 ton 4x4 that he used for spraying his crops, the year of that pickup is a 79 🚜🛻🇺🇸
Yeah we used to hire someone to spray, and they had one in a pickup.
