While not a fan of the animations and mechanics - I play Skyrim to play Skyrim, after all - I do really appreciate the tools used for this, as they would be good even with vanilla animations and vanilla or close to vanilla combat.
One of the best things I liked about Skyrim was that it didn't have the completely ridiculous japanimation combat animations. 13 years later, that's still a major part I appreciate.
This looks fantasting! Just one question, though. Which Skyrim-version you are using? The latest SE build or certain AE build (sorry, I can't remember the version numbers)?

I saw that you did it with Dynamic Dodge Animations and the 2B ones. I want to do that too but don't seem to find a way to do it yet
anyone know how to do this yet? im also confused on how he set it up EDIT: for anyone still having trouble setting up 2 dodge animations, change the _conditions.txt for 2B nier automata "IsEquippedRightType(0)" to (1), as 0 is unarmed and 1 is swords if you want all 1h weapons to work, you also need to add "OR" at the end of the line and copy the following over: IsEquippedRightType(2) OR IsEquippedRightType(3) OR IsEquippedRightType(4) as that adds in daggers, waraxes, and maces respectively. Here is how it should look in your notepad: IsActorBase("Skyrim.esm"|0x000007) AND IsEquippedRightType(1) OR IsEquippedRightType(2) OR IsEquippedRightType(3) OR IsEquippedRightType(4)
Maxsu blocking basically makes timed blocks in valhalla combat useless. Because the time it takes for you to recover from blocking stagger, the enemy has recovered as well.
Can you do an nexus collection with your own personal load order? It would be nice to be able to one click download all these amazing mods you are showing us. If not then can you share your current Skyrim load order with us with google docs or a word document.
TK dodge unfortunately doesn't seem to work with latest version (1.6.1170) of Skyrim. Still, great video! Edit: I figured it out i think, I needed an TK Dodge AE esp plugin and TK Dodge NG, rebuilt the animations in nemesis and now it seems to work.
+1 to this. I spent hours trying to get TK Dodge to work in the 1.6.1170 update to no avail. This comment saved my life and my few remaining brain cells.
Thanks for the help bud. To anyone else reading this, don't be a sausage like me and make sure you change keybinding in the ini file of dodge NG. Should work after that if you did everything else right.
Those were my thoughts originally. However, after testing for 10+ hours, it does not. Nothing from the overhaul other than Mortal Enemies adjusts that insane turn rate in the game.
Great video, followed all the steps here to overhaul combat and the result was astounding. I also looked up weapon specific animations and none seem to look cool as your greatsword anim, so i just wanted to know which anim mod are you running at 17:25 for your two handed weapon
Just bought Skyrim (again) for my PC this time. The video came just at the right time for a first heavily modded playthrough. Thanks! Also, I wonder how well all of this would work with a controller? I struggle with FPS games on the MKB setup and will probably have to settle for mods that allow for controller mapping or have patches available.
@@theroldan8675 Yeah for the most part. Actually started installing mods yesterday, I haven't figured out how to work out the TK Dodge Re yet tho while using Gamepad++. Everything else like TDM and Precision and so on that's mentioned in the video work right out the box with the gamepad.
the modpack is actually much larger than what is listed, many of the listed mods require 5 or more additional mods to work, in reality you will end up with 66, other than that its a good pack
Using this list as a guideline, I've been having a blast so far. Although I've run into a few issues. The biggest one is that something keeps unbinding and straight up hiding the left hand control setting from controls, and also that hit noises tend to be very inconsistent, sometimes it will sound fine and other times the perfect blocks will never make any sounds. Do you know of any specific reason why these might be happening? Edit: In case anyone was having issues with the erasure of the Left Hand Control, do not enable Remove Block from One Click Power Attack. I was using it as a bandage solution to get two handed weapons to work properly but it was resulting in the block key (or in Skyrim's case, the left hand key) being completely removed as opposed to just being disabled during combat like I was assuming.
Hey Syn! This looks beyond amazing. I already know the answer to this first question i think... any VR compatability? and now that you've said no, do you ever review and VR mods?
@@TheOne01One I just skipped Elden Rim and used Maksu Block Overhaul and Modern Stagger Lock without it. I still get the great staggers, but only miss out on the body tossing from the big enemies. I'd like to have those too, but this will do until someone can explain how to use Elden Rim for just the Elden Stagger part.
You mentioned you're using TK Dodge but in some parts of the video you do a step dodge and roll dodge in the same fight, that's DMCO right or is there a way for TK dodge to have both like DMCO?
the downside to using precision is if you are say using a mod like skyrim underground, the use of precision will get your character brought to the reload screan.
Great modlist! There was only one small issue.... modern stagger lock doesn't work on the current build of skyrim, does someone know any workaround for this?
I was looking for someone else to mention this. I currently haven't found a workaround either, hoping someone else could chime in that knows what they are doing.
Modern Stagger Lock will need an update. In the mean time, Plus Combat and Chocolate Poise Plus are good substitute. One thing Chocolate Poise has over MSL is that you can use TK Dodge to dodge cancel out of your own stagger, which I prefer
I recently went back to playing Skyrim after learning about how insane the mods have become and how stupidly easy it became to start modding fresh with everything having been condensed into MO2. I was surprised that I no longer needed several different files like wyrebash just to do the more simple mods and that MO2 is basically all that's needed. I went with Nolvus and the only thing I want to do is change the combat animations as I had some really cool ones years ago and were updated to work with SE, but I'm unsure how to add/replace the combat mods in Nolvus or what is and isn't compatible since Nolvus is a rather large list. Reading through the section on how to replace combat animations or adding animations gets a bit confusing, same for finding new anim mods that require other frameworks that aren't part of Nolvus and wondering if it's even compatible or if I have to disable one framework to add another. Kinda the same issue with trying to read on how to get FNIS and Nemesis to coexist for mods that still require/use FNIS but were never updated for Nemesis.

EDIT: for anyone still having trouble setting up 2 dodge animations, change the _conditions.txt for 2B nier automata "IsEquippedRightType(0)" to (1), as 0 is unarmed and 1 is swords if you want all 1h weapons to work, you also need to add "OR" at the end of the line and copy the following over: IsEquippedRightType(2) OR IsEquippedRightType(3) OR IsEquippedRightType(4) as that adds in daggers, waraxes, and maces respectively. Here is how it should look in your notepad:
IsActorBase("Skyrim.esm"|0x000007) AND
IsEquippedRightType(1) OR
IsEquippedRightType(2) OR
IsEquippedRightType(3) OR
IsEquippedRightType(4)
Awesome list, man! Comes right in time. I just build a new gaming PC and wanted make a new modlist for Skyrim to utilise the increased power! :)
My Gosh this is Art...Syn you're a Genius 🔥😭
Maxsu blocking basically makes timed blocks in valhalla combat useless. Because the time it takes for you to recover from blocking stagger, the enemy has recovered as well.
Extremely helpful, great video.
If not, cheak for TK Dodge RE
Yeahhh! Let'saaa goooo! Thanks Syn!
Doesn't precision make Mortal Enemies obsolete, though? Or am I imagining things? Love the video by the way.
Those were my thoughts originally. However, after testing for 10+ hours, it does not.
Nothing from the overhaul other than Mortal Enemies adjusts that insane turn rate in the game.
Hands down the best tutorial for a mod showcase ive seen other than gamerpoet 👏⭐
Still waiting for either MCO or BFCO to support creature animations. Werewolves and vampire lords are long overdue for new movesets.
Awesome video highlighting some great combat mods. Will definitely be making a new pack with this.
What visual mods did you use in this video?
thank u sm for this video i didnt use half the mods because i still enjoy vanilla combat but this video the only one that helped me install tk dodge 🙏
Hey Syn, thanks for the videos. Recently installed Graphic overhaul and still modding! Which UI do you use here? Is just amazing.
gonna bookmark this for when I eventually reinstall Skyrim. Just trying to mix and match myself just takes way too much time
Informative 👍 Fun 👍 Easy to follow 👍
Thanks, Syn!
Great video, followed all the steps here to overhaul combat and the result was astounding. I also looked up weapon specific animations and none seem to look cool as your greatsword anim, so i just wanted to know which anim mod are you running at 17:25 for your two handed weapon
did you find it ?
@gintokisakata2694 no, i think it's a paid mod
It will all be so good that Adress Library is updated for Skyrim AE!
What ?! A Syn video without Arena fighting scenes ??? What happened ? ^^
Jokes aside, thank you man, a really useful video as always 🤌👌
Lmao
Cheers! :)
"Mom, I want to play Rise of Ronin!"
"We have Rise of Ronin at home.."
It's not even Skyrim anymore.
Just bought Skyrim (again) for my PC this time. The video came just at the right time for a first heavily modded playthrough. Thanks!
Also, I wonder how well all of this would work with a controller? I struggle with FPS games on the MKB setup and will probably have to settle for mods that allow for controller mapping or have patches available.
controller works fine along with keyboard
Been wating for this. Thanks!
So it looks like you are just using the "Elden Stagger" part of Elden Rim without all of the other stuff it comes with, how did you do that?
I need to know this too. I cant get Elden Rim working at all. No idea whats up
@@TheOne01One I just skipped Elden Rim and used Maksu Block Overhaul and Modern Stagger Lock without it. I still get the great staggers, but only miss out on the body tossing from the big enemies. I'd like to have those too, but this will do until someone can explain how to use Elden Rim for just the Elden Stagger part.
New to Skyrim modding so I've got a Dumb Question. Do I need to downgrade off of Anniversary Edition or are all these mods up to date?
Looks amazing, thanks for the detailed explanations!
Raid shadow legends gonna be haunting me for the rest of my days. 2024 and it’s still prevalent.
You mentioned you're using TK Dodge but in some parts of the video you do a step dodge and roll dodge in the same fight, that's DMCO right or is there a way for TK dodge to have both like DMCO?
Id love to see s graphics list next!! The game looks so good!!
the downside to using precision is if you are say using a mod like skyrim underground, the use of precision will get your character brought to the reload screan.
Incredibly helpful
I can watch this without skipping
Wow, such an amazing video! Thanks for that! By the way, does anyone know how his options and menu are so clean and minimalistic? I love that...
Kinda the same issue with trying to read on how to get FNIS and Nemesis to coexist for mods that still require/use FNIS but were never updated for Nemesis.
great video ❤
I would love to see something like that but focused on FPS combat. swords, magic or bow.
Sorry, it's me again. Could you please tell me which mod adds the blood effects when hitting an enemy?
this is all for the Special edition, correct? I should avoid the anniversary edition at all costs?
Nice video. What light armor were you using during the coliders segment? TIA
What's the New Lands mod during the Precision section? Looks supremely cool!
